This was more of a cosmetic fix, the mold will eventually come back. Especially considering there is probably mold all under the carpets and inside the seats that they can’t get to. Owner is most likely going to sell it to someone and make it their problem.
Noooo So you're telling me that if my car got wet (yeah i let the rainwater sip into the back hood for just one minute and now my car smelled terrible i think fungus) so the smell will linger there even i gonna send it for deep cleaning??!? I feel like driving in biohazard environment for this couple of weeks. So i need to buy a new car??!?
@Semerah Padi If it was only a minute, It should be fine to get it professionally cleaned. Just make sure they do a good job. Then get yourself a ozone machine and let it sit in your car for 24 hours after it's been clean to kill any possible mold. Maybe you can pay them extra to rip up the carpet and clean underneath.
Unreal how clean they got that car! I would be wary of the mold coming back, but considering the upholstery can’t be removed, these guys did an amazing job and their hard work will definitely slow any reoccurring mold issues. I do hope the owner keeps up with regular cleanings and got that sun window fixed! As a side note to the well-meaning commenters out there, don’t be too quick to judge the owners of anything that becomes dirty. You never know what they might be struggling with, so this is a gentle reminder to have compassion.
Yes the mold would still be in the car. Also under the plastic door moldings. Plus with the water from the extractor can cause the mold to be moved around releasing more spores, even after he ran ozone. Along with the tornado pushing it deeper into the rug. he also should've cleaned the bottom side of the carpet.
@@applejuice4791 he said he couldn’t lift the carpet because it was really stapled in there and it wouldn’t fit the same if the carpet came out. He normally would have.

Honestly when a vehicle is this bad even after it's visually clean, there is always Mold in places you can't get and you'll have health issues if you spent to much time in it, at a minimum all carpet and headliner should be replaced. Just cleaned out my wife's car that had a leak for a month under the driver's matt and I removed the carpet, seats center console remover and trashed all soimd dreading since you would destroy it if you tried to clean it. I cleaned, dried the inside twice and pressure washed the Matt's and carpet and treated with a enzyme cleaner then extracted and fan dried it. Installed new sound deadening and put it back together. I also did the same thing to a friend's car that broke 2 5 gallon jugs of water and it flooded the floor and all the lower vents were submerged so they were removed and cleaned. It's alot of work to do this properly. I charged him 700 to do a full inside and outside detail, and that took a full 2 days.
Yes! Also there is tons is mold under that carpet, the vent on the carpet is wide open and he thinks all that mold just stopped? Nice cosmetic, but still cosmetic
Great cleaning service but from technical perspective the insulation of the carpet under it is still a swamp, let alone the roof liner and every single plastic like the door trims and the dashboard needs to be removed and thoroughly cleaned inside out aswell as any passage on the car body that can be reached as the ozone doesn't help with MOLD SPORES, let alone the seats which are useless once they get damp in a moldy environment unless you remove the covers and let the foams sit under hot sunlight for a week after cleaned. I can understand the owner needed a quick deep wash and those guys are unable to do anything more for the agreed price or intervene with the car anything more, but this car and any that gets water damage are BIOHAZARD.
I had a similar problem with my GS300. When I came back from a 3 week holiday I discovered the drivers side was full of water, the pipe leading from the roof had come apart and it was draining into the footwell. Cleaning the carpet is only part of the cure, underneath is a lot of thick sound deadening that also needs soaks up the water, the carpet needs to be lifted to do a proper job.
Amazing work... also incredible that there are people willing to go to such extent and use expertise to get something this dirty, clean like that. Pretty sure that if I showed up with a car looking like that anywhere here where I live, there would not be a single business that would say - sure, we'll take care of it. No matter the price. One look and they'd all say it cannot be cleaned, get rid of it, period.
Whut? Why are socks on the bed an issue ( unless you walk around the house on your socks, then i can see the issue) I can see how shoes on the bed are an issue, but if you keep your socks clean i would imagine theyre better than your bare feet. Your feet have oils and skin cells that can build up on the bed and leave it smellig like feet. But if your socks are clean then its just fabric on fabric.
This doesn't change the fact that that carpet needed to be removed and replaced as well as the factory padding underneath needing to be replaced. This is just a half-assed job and I bet that car still smelled on hot days.
Using the Tornador for the mold removal was a NO-NO!! Guys have gone to the hospital from APC all day in the Tornador; it atomizes things so finely you can breath it in without knowing. Even with your respirator on you blew billions mold spores all over your shop and potentially in your eyes lol
I think its probably a car that was caught in a flood and their lying about how it got that way, you can see the water level on the outside of the car. They probably bought at auction or from a junk yard for a few hundred bucks and are trying to flip it and get a few thousand bucks out of it
Carpet did not look good in the after-pic - I'd be hesitant to sit in that thing. WDD did a phenomenal job with what they were given, that was a nightmare!
I question if he could have replaced the carpet cheaper than paying you to clean it? I understand cleaning the seats and door skins, but a set of new carpet for that lexus is $2-300 online. Thats a lot of labor you did to salvage the old carpet to still have nast underneath.
mold releases spores which can get into places that are hard to reach, they should've still ripped the carpet out even if it was stapled, or its just gonna regrow in the car. never saw them ripping out the plastic moldings around the doors which can house alot of mold underneath. Plus doing under the carpet and the floor pan. How I see it, is this guy just did what you would see, but not completely get rid of the mold. And yes I know he ran ozone, but with breaking apart the mold, it can release new spores that where not easily accessible too with the ozone. especially with him using the Tornador, he is just pushing mold deeper into the carpet as well. honestly they should've stripped everything out and pressure washed all the plastic and carpet, then extracted the carpet and let it dry.
The whole point of snow foam is to get as much dirt off the car without touching it. You’re not supposed to use a mitt or any other cloth with snow foam, you’re supposed rinse off the snow foam after a couple of mins and then use a hand wash.
This car is still destroyed. You have no idea if all the electronics behind those buttons, behind the shifter or dash are corroded and rusted. What state are the airbags in as well?
Why doesn’t anyone use ammonia anymore? My sisters car had rugs and plastic. We use ammonia and water and scrub. After scrubbing for a couple of minutes. We let it soak. We let it soak overnight. Almost a full 28 hours. I would say. Then we use regular soap and water instead of washing it. As we rinse the carpet and plastic we noticed that the smell on both of them was gone! So I’m wondering, why in gods name does anybody use ammonia anymore? Seriously?

If you notice your car has a leak, and you don't have an option to keep it in a garage or similar, and you can't deal with it, due to any circumstance(being sick, time, whatever) Just drill two holes in the floor, keep the front slightly higher than the back and preferably also tilted to one side, will prevent accumulation of water, it will dry out when its warm and will only rust a smidge where the hole is, which is better than the entirety of the floor developing rust, carpet being messed up and electronics failing.
