    For me a car, especially one you've had that long, that's been a big part of your life and shared so many memories with you becomes part of the family. I couldn't imagine letting it go. I've had my 2000 Intrepid since 2006 when I bought it as my first car. I love it as much or more now than I did when I bought it. I've gone on road trips with it, met fellow owners who've become friends, joined a club, gone to the Nationals, moved, and learned how to repair and care for it over the years.
    Life happens, and you do what you must, but if at all possible I don't plan to ever sell mine. You only have one first car.

    Larry, right on target my friend! As car/detailer fanatics, we love our automobiles, and its hard to part with them. Lord knows, I've let a couple go that I wish I had kept, but life moves on and we find new rides to enjoy. As fathers, we will do anything for our families, and that includes lettings the toys go if the need arises. That said...shed a tear or two when she leaves for the last time, but take some solace in the fact that more than likely another young man or woman will start their own path of car ownership, and build their own memories with your Impala...We are caretakers for these wonderful things we call automobiles, and it sounds like the time is right to pass the torch on this one.

Also it is nice that it wasn't that bad. I've been cleaning a work truck for about 10hours to get the mold out. It made your situation look like a cake walk.

      Patrick94GSR oh man keep that as long as you can! My dad had a 92 GSR in Milano red he bought from an older gentleman completely stock and always garaged. I drove it one day and fell in love with it. I figured he would keep it for a while.
      Fast forward a few months later, I found out my dad sold it! My heart sank. I had every intention to buy it from him or by luck, simply give it to me. Man, I wish I communicated that to him I want to have it. The thought of the new owner abusing the car and ricing it out just saddens me more.

    Hey Larry, I know this video is a little older but I hope you get a chance to see this. Just a friendly observation as a former mold mitigation specialist. I would recommend that when applying Shag (a great choice for the Hydrogen Peroxide!) apply it directly to your microfiber towel instead of the surfaces. That light mist and puff of air from the bottle can actually cause mold spores to become airborne. If you happen to deal with mold on a fairly regular basis, I would highly recommend grabbing a product called Benefect. It is a fantastic product as well as the worlds only authentic botanical disinfectant. No strong lingering odors or harsh chemicals etc. Lastly, I would encourage you to wear a simple respirator. The mask you have here does nothing to filter out spores. The respirator will filter much better and keep you significantly safer. Fantastic video as always! Keep up the hard work!

    I totally understand about the armrests/console thing. When I worked at Costco gas station in Lewisville, TX, a Ford Expeditio's battery died. Since it was against policy and not real smart to jump a battery while sitting between 12 gas pumps, the owner asked if I could steer while he pushed this monster out of the station. I know that if something has come up missing, or something for damaged, I'd be at fault. I told him I'd push the truck out and HE could steer. CYA, Baby. I then jumped his truck off with my car battery, and he was on his way. Cover Your Ass is the name of the game. I'm a female, btw, and that was the biggest vehicle I'd ever pushed in my life!

    Razorblade on windhshields is the BEST way to clean them, hands down. Spritz a little water on the window, go over it with a blade, then you can use way less product and elbow grease to wipe up the little remaining residue. I drive 100 miles a day for my work so I get lots of bug impacts, the razorblade method has saved me a lot of time.

      In the current market they are quite affordable. Unless you're looking for one with super low miles, you can find them all day around 5-7k in decent-good condition; rough ones for around 3k.

    So sorry to see your car took a beating from those storms. I came all the way up from Tx in July of 2018 with my roofing company to help with the hail and wind claims. I saw a whole spectrum of damage. Glad your home is okay!

    Dude... thanks for doing this video, since i just found your channel, I had daydreamed on what it would’ve been like to detail my old (not with me anymore) impala SS. But do my eyes deceive me, you not only have the same year impala but you give it the same detail I use to do to it (Cracked door panels and all). Anyways, thumbs up and sorry to see you gave it the proper send off. Cheers

    I use kitty litter in dollar store pantyhose to control moisture when I store cars...or if the car is a winterbeater that doesn't have AC. It hasn't failed me yet to keep mold/musty smells away. Take a red solo up, scoop the kitty litter into it then stretch the over the cup and tip it in until full and tie it off. Yes, it does make dust so you can put them on a paper plate or on a plastic bag etc

      The concentrations and time needed to have any lasting effect on plastic would mean you have to leave it parked next to a transformer for a while. He's being over cautious imo

    Is "Max AC" not recirculate on the old chevys?

    • @JJ_ExMachina
      @JJ_ExMachina 6 лет назад +1

      jborgar "Max AC" uses the recirculate function automatically, but does not recirculate the inside air continuously. In some vehicles it also maxes out the speed of the fan (makes it very noisy as well). Many of the older vehicles did not have a true recirculate function, more of a "sort of closed off" feature. Newer vehicles will completely close off the air coming in from the outside from the HVAC system, to prevent smoke or other unpleasant smells from entering the vehicle.

    On the part where you mentioned you practically lived in this car, I think it'd make a great video and story to hear about your entire life leading up to being such a successful and well known detailer.

  • @1974kenm
    @1974kenm 6 лет назад

    In most domestic cars, MAX AC is the same as recirculate - its just a short cut instead of turning the temp down, the fan up and pressing the recirc button.
