I remember when these were new. They were such nice cars. Hard to imagine a 2020 5 series looking like this in 15 years... but there probably will be some!
I guess some poor folks buy these expensive foreign lawn ornaments, not knowing how expensive maintenance and repairs are after the warranty expires. These things break down, and the owner can’t afford to fix the damn thing, because the car parts are so damn expensive; so the car is basically left to Mother Nature to take over.
Your videos are really great. Whilst I am not a professional detailer, I employ as many of your techniques as I can when cleaning my own car(s) and I always get comments about how great they look.
Yah how does this work legally? The car was totaled as a biohazard, and those hazards still exist. The unsuspecting buyer of, say, the back seat would get a massive chunk of foam and upholstery full of nasty.
Larry... if you were doing this for a customer car would you have a concern for the vents, headliner and foam inside the seats still containing some mold?
@@AMMO-NYC Would the gas have killed whatever was in the vents or would you need to actually take the HVAC system out or replace it? Also what would be the process for cleaning the headliner? You could just replace the seats because they probably do still have mole inside and could get them cheap.

I was based in Lynchburg, VA and now live down in Land O' Lakes, FL and haven't worked on any cars in quite a while, but I'm still watching man. LOVE IT!
Using a small polisher to clean headliners... what a great detailing tip! Kudos to Larry, Jason Rose and the other crew in turning this" sows ear into a imitation silk purse" to allow it to be sold at auction.
With that much mouse activity, it's about a 99% chance enough wiring was chewed through to make the car not start. But I'll admit, out of morbid curiosity, I would've liked to have seen that too.
If you’re concerned about to panel/trim clips breaking during future details, you can order kits off Amazon with different assortments of sizes for $15-$20. Kits typically are made for one specific manufacturer. You could keep one for each of the common manufacturers on hand in the shop.
Finally you listened to me and removed the interior trim for a real cleaning . Good advice : cover your ears with earplugs so the germs and gases doesn't take it's way in your ears because there is a canal between the ears and throat so actually you may breath by your ears so be careful .
When Larry says "by FAR the worst car I've ever done in my career", you know it's going to be disgusting... Edit: can strongly suggest Kwazar spray bottles, they'll save your hands/
I can easily relate to this. I work at a scrapyard, and only deal with the automotive recycling side of it. You have to go in the cars sometimes to pull stuff out that can't be shredded or crushed for safety and environmental reasons. It gets really disgusting sometimes. Even this bad. Which is why you refuse to go in those kind of cars.
Those interior switches make me homesick in a sense for my old e36. Loved that car- spent way too many warm days detailing it, though nothing that would make Larry take notice, I'm sure.

Ozone has no effect on bacteria, mold or VOC... It's effect on odours are also questionable, as it mainly "masks" the smells so you smell ozone in stead. Also: Ozone is toxic... The generators are also not maintenance free as often being claimed.

Now that Trump is gone, the car was allowed back on the streets again, and it does resemble the Trump presidency in some way.

Not to mention all the wires that could’ve been chewed and all the decay of sitting for a long time, so I get why this was totalled

Years ago I was looking for a newer car. I found a cobalt but it had this twingy mold smell to it. Car fax said it was flooded. But this car is beyond anything I've seen before.
I work for a Lexus dealership in California. We have 120-150 appointments everyday. we usually get 4-6 mold removal a month. it usually cost $4,000-$6,000
Water leaks are from the door vapor barriers. Those foam panels inside the doors. Once they come loose they drip water into the carpets. Pretty common on bmws

Yup, inside the seats and dashboard were my thoughts too. Even if it’s being sold for parts
Yea its dubious, things like the seats should have been permanently defaced to ensure no reuse no resale.
But I think the tablet system that they used killed off all the mold.

I use ozone machine to remove odors and mold you should look into one!
The CIO2 seemed to work really fast. Thats really handy for a business owner. An ozone generator would have taken 2-3 hours minimum
