I cleaned out the charge port yesterday. It was incredible how much came out. Before I did it, it wouldn’t charge unless the cable was in the perfect position. After cleaning it seemed brand new and the charger clicked in

Been doing the same thing working as a technician in a Apple certified retailer. A great way to finish up the job is to use some form of cleaning putty for the bottom speaker grills and top speaker grills; you can get rid of the left over gunk
@@ramanbhadu1 I am not familiar with error codes for iTunes as we use Apple configurator for pretty much all our restores. Judging from what you're saying it sounds like you're experiencing a hardware error which means it either fell in liquid or suffered some physical damage. There is unfortunately no way to fix this.
Thank you so much for this! My charging port had been getting clogged, but I couldn't see inside well and I didn't want to tinker with it and damage it further. But after seeing a professional just stick a tiny metal object inside the port and clean it out, I felt confident to do it myself. I cleaned out way more lint than I had expected, and the port works good as new now! Can't remember the last time I felt that satisfying snap when I plug my charger in!
After it started to become increasingly difficult to get the charging cable into the USB-C port on my Android Pixel 4a phone, and thus to charge it, I was able to resolve the issue with a sewing needle. After turning the device off I was able to use a fine sewing needle to fish out all of the lint and compacted debris at the bottom of the charging port, after which it became easy to plug in and charge the phone. This is a task that you need very good close up vision to accomplish, as I'm short sighted, fortunately just taking my glasses off gives me extremely good close up vision.
Funnily enough I had exactly the same issue, on the same phone. I actually had enough gunk collect in there that the charger no longer plugged in fully flush to the phone, so I fished it out with a very pointy compass
Did the same exact thing with my Pixel 4a. I couldn't properly charge it for months without perfectly positioning it and it would keep popping out unless the phone was perfectly stable. Forget about trying to charge it in a moving vehicle. Was this close to buying a new phone until I did this and removed 2 years worth of gunk in the charging port. Now it clicks in like a charm and stays there
You don't need that good of vision. Just know that USB C ports have the piece in the middle and try not to bend it. Also I'd recommend not using something metal as it could potentially scrape off the contacts inside. Otherwise just try to scoop it out, don't need to be able to see inside it really.
@@An4lAvenger I tried 'scooping it out', which didn't work as the lint was compacted hard. There was no danger of scraping off the contacts or bending the middle piece as this was an extremely fine and sharp needle which went nowhere near either, but did require precision guidance, only possible with good close-up vision.
