    Gotta keep in mind that in civilian guilds when you swap in the bench you’re also usually swapping to weaker players as a whole, and it’s also likely late enough in the season that gear isn’t changing anymore

    Oracle adding Prayer of Mending for disc is like... going against everything they just did to Disc in the re-vamp. A button you push just to push, because it's optimal. Disc uses Renew right now, but solely for Attonement application, not because of its healing, it does fuck all healing.
    Really don't need yet another button that doesn't do anything, but you have to use it to optimize. That's how it got into the problem it was prior to the rotation prune.

      As a holy priest healer, I can’t stand prayer of mending and it always ends up being the damn tier set. Can’t stand wasting 8 talent points to buff one crappy ability -_-

    10.2.6 is gonna be a wow BR where you land in random spot in azeroth level 1 and get pickups for spells while the area shrinks. The pirate flag is because they added boats to sail between continents.

    I don't see how a "silent majority" casual player can meaningfully engage with the move to more support options. The default game ui does not do you any favors on when you should be pressing your support button(s), there isn't a lot of in game feedback if you're doing it right, and it increases the delta between the puging experience and coordinated groups.

    Mob damage and healing don't need to infinitely scale at the same rate. It doesn't need to be 10% damage and 10% health per key level, it can be 8% damage and 10% health for instance and then the limiting factor doesn't become one shots.

      Honestly they should just cap the increase damage of mobs and bosses spells/abilities at like a +20 or +22 and only have the health continue scaling/increasing for higher key levels. Thatway at a certain point it becomes more of an optimization of pulls and execution rather than oh hey this mechanic/ spell just one shots me at this key level.

      @@skrotax If damage capped at a 20 or 22 people would eventually find ways to do it without healers and that would become the norm. People are already doing most 23 keys without a healer in MDI and there is a team that has done world first 32 without a healer. If anything there needs to be more healing not less of it. Remove a lot of the avoidable healing, and add back a whole lot of unavoidable healing that is predictable but still challenges. The fact that you can pretty much eliminate the healer role from relevance just by playing perfectly and stopping every cast should not be a thing. The role exists for a reason, make them do their job.

    36:50 - About Growl enjoying Healer because there was not this push to top the meters. I feel the same way constantly.
    I heal in our Raidteam and I usually heal in M+, but I also feel a bit anxious about it because if people die I blame myself (even if they stood in bad and killed themselves). We are not Cutting Edge raiders, nor are we hardcore keypushers and we take our time to climb (some people push harder but they got their own little team going). We usually plateu around +20-22 with the occasional higher key for fun, and instead of pushing as high as we can we jump around doing +20 on alts, or a +18 to give a freshly ding'd character a Vault slot.
    We have the issue of too many Healers to DPS, or at least Healers that feel comfortable doing damage on their main raiding character. I am one of few that can be persuaded to swap (I raid as Resto Shaman but have some experience as Elemental) based on what the M+ teams currently need.
    I've practiced on dummies and even in lower keys as we kept pushing early in the season, but with so much going on I get overwhelmed in a way that I don't get as Healer.
    I push my buttons all the time, even if not perfectly optimal, but I still find myself below our Blood DK tank on some of our pull, and sometimes below tank on the Total Dungeon Damage meter. I feel that I'm letting the team down and even if we clear the +20 dungeons easily, sometimes even as a +2, I feel really bad about my performance. It's at the level where I sometimes make up excuses so they end up taking a PuG instead of me because I see myself so low on the meter and I am ashamed of it.
    I don't ever PuG M+, either as DPS or Healer, because I feel bad about my performance and I don't want to ruin someone else's key just because they think I should be good because of my ilvl and score, but I can't deal damage to save my life..

      Pls dont make up excuses to avoid playing with your friends. I'm sure they would feel hurt that you avoid them because u don't think you're good enough. That's so horrible! Would you ever want your friends to do that to you? You gotta show your self some love my man.

    I am the player type Max was talking about RE broken logs. I like parsing higher of course, but it's mostly because it's a sign that I'm improving. I'm playing a new class this tier though, and the existence of aug, PI, blessing of seasons, etc has made it almost impossible to use logs to improve. I feel so in the dark compared to previous seasons and I absolutely hate it.

      I will constantly look to improve my own gameplay and I trust logs for that. I don't care wtf the rest of my raid is doing. I don't hold them to my own standards. But I want to get better.
      A lot of people just play games to get good at them, and that's just as okay as wanting to play the game to just talk to your friends. There's people that throw a baseball back and forth in their yard and people that play on their local community team. Both should be allowed to exist.
      These support classes with improper hooks only hurt one of those individuals. If the others aren't interesting in looking at details, or logs, etc, they don't have to. No one is forcing them to lol.

      Go to Warcraft logs and compare to a high parser and check cooldown usage in relation to fights and compare your cast>timeline to his/hers.
      Can identify almost any mistake by doing this regardless of what the numbers say.

      @@JaySharp1 It’s not that simple, unfortunately. I have another player of my spec in my own raid who was parsing higher than me, but even that isn’t sufficient since holy paladin buffs give more cd/buff uptime and uses of lots of abilities due to feedback loops. To actually understand what’s happening you have to do really, really complicated inspection of every ability usage cross-referenced with exactly when they got various buffs, what was stacked, etc, and then do the same for yourself, then compare and try to make extrapolations. It’s simply too complex and time-consuming and even when you do it there’s still some guesswork.

      ​@@JaySharp1Cool now go do that but do it vs a healer and your healing comp varies from another because you have different healing composition so you have raid cooldowns at different times but you still want to see how you doing even if when you press your cooldowns isn't up to you but is mandated by your guild for progression.
      And oh, oops, I rank 1 parsed on the last fight (yes I have many times) but that doesn't stop me from trying to evaluate how one of my talent choices compares to another or how much value I got out of something in a fight, even if no one in the world did it better than me. I still like looking at those things.

    For Oracle, if they want to keep that premonition mechanic, I believe they should use an OPie-like wheel instead of cycling through the buffs. Just put up a radial dial and pick the buff you want to give out.

    Great talk about defensives and healing profiles. I'm curious on a further opinion though: IF they pruned back defensive CDs, which kind would you prefer to keep? What design goal would they use going forward for defensives? I'll use myself, a rogue, as an example. I have Feint, Evasion, Cloak Crimson Vial, and Vanish (though that last one is sadly used on CD as an offensive cooldown now). If I were to prune my own defensives, I would get rid of the longer cooldown, more powerful buttons and keep the shorter cooldown less powerful ones. I'd keep Feint and Crimson Vial basically. As iconic as Cloak is, it feels better to have something that is reasonably up for most mechanics. If a boss is going to do a big hit every 30 seconds, I'd rather have a well timed Feint reduce every one rather than Cloak immune one occasionally.

    Not a complete fix for the reward structure past 20 - but just give a couple more crests. Like every other level past 20 gives 1 extra crest - so time a 26, you get 15 crests, meaning time a 26, you get an upgrade. Time 4 x 26's, get a max level craft. Doesn't seem like a lot, but it's the right level of reward to lure people into pushing.
    That's a 50% time savings per Mythic upgrade or a 20% time savings per max craft - just for timing 26's. If you can time a 26, it may or may not be optimal from a time investment standpoint, but it would feel good to finish a dungeon that might have been a push for you, step out of that dungeon, and then upgrade your gear.

      I'd say the opposite, he really doesn't understand the average wow player and sees everything from his perspective. You only get this impression because you probably have the same experience he does, everyone else I speak to really doesn't enjoy Growl's input.

    50:00 I feel this. I have all the gear I need with exception to loot off of:
    1. mythic bosses I have not killed yet
    (Tindral / Fyrussy) and by extension do not feel like I deserve the loot.
    2. Myth track Seastar and Balefire Branch, which statistically speaking I need to have 3x 18+ slots every week in the season to see each trinket once.

    On the key times vs 1 shot your looking at the failure point. Right now most failure points are healing based/ one shot based. What people want is dps failure point. Where you gave 100% did every trick and just they can’t hit the timer.

    I am fairly casual, do my 16s-20s heroic raiding. I really like the logs because it helps me understand how well I am playing my class and if I am improving over time, hell they might even be more important for me because I don't have that elite lens to truly understand my gameplay faults and how to improve. So I am sad to lose that improvement metric

    Excellent episode as usual. One nitpick - 3k IO is definitely not all timed 20s, that would be closer to 2750. 3k is all timed 22s with a few 23s.

    I would also note that, based on what Max was saying where you would feel the need to clear all 3 raids early on every week if they were all available at once - I feel like there’s a similar issue where you might be incentivized to run the raid on all 3 difficulties to target a certain item that can then be upgraded to Mythic (based on how it was in SL)

    On dungeon boss design for the bosses that live forever. You make the shield/totem/add spawn at certain % of HP instead of every X seconds. Example: Boss spawns add at 60% and 30% instead of every 40 seconds.

    I’ve been saying this as well since they removed the seasonal. They should’ve done the opposite. Remove the ordinary affixes which are just annoying and just have a seasonal that adds flavour and new ways to do the dungeon. This would be a lot more fun.
    I’m surprised they don’t mention Glory that warriors had in shadowlands. I thought that was perfect as a support spell. Fun for the warrior with extra rage and good for the entire party with the buff.

    Have all the raids open but you get locked out of all bosses after 10 boss kills. Your guild could do all easy bosses for vault or all end bosses for loot, or some combo, but no incentive to do more than 10 bosses.

    I think the best solution for the fated raid is simple you as a guild choose which fated raid you want to run that week. It could be the same one as last week it could be a different one it could be the one you have been progressing since the release of fated. You go in you get your lock out on your character and you are almost "Attuned" to that raid and cant attune to another raid. Yes it sucks that maybe 2-3 of your players wanted to do Aberus because of a trinket and 2-3 other players wanted to do Amerdrassil because of the Shadowflame weapons but thats what the Denars are for. You as a guild choose what raid to run you run it you get your free piece of loot from the vendor and then once you prog and complete the raid (hopefully within a week or 2) you can then go hey lets go to Aberussy next or Amerdrussy.

    fated discussion makes me wonder if thats a good area to try out the raid progression we used to have in fated seasons, makin it so you clear vault to gear up for aberrus, clear aberrus to gear for amirdrassil

    It would be nice if you could focus a piece of gear in your vault from content you have cleared and once you fill up a progress bar you get that focused piece of gear in your next vault opening

    As far as the patreon question goes, sometimes it is also just shit because you don't have a choice, my guild also had trouble rekilling sark, we didn't even change strat, but we had a bunch of roster issues (absences aswell as people quitting) so we didn't pull the boss for 3 weeks, and then we had to reclear with a completely new tank, a new healer and multiple dps switched because the people that were in for the first kill simply weren't there.

    i think for fated seasons, it should be like vantus runes, but for the whole raid. you choose one of the three raids to do fated for one week with all difficulties. Then you can pick again after the next reset.

    They can put games in like they used to have in BFA Nazj, but you have a low chance to win a Tmog or some some sort of currency. You can make an arcade out of it as well where you get to put you name next to your high score. Something that gives a reward, but doesn't affect power.

    the problem with boss mechanics that leads to boss fights lasting too long are adds/intermission on a timer
    the simplest solution is either stop scaling these abilities beyond 20 (im not sure but i remember this was a thing in SL) or simply make them happen at a certain boss %

    They should test an m+ Season with no normal affixes and your key rolls 2 random seasonal affixes of which you choose one when starting the key. This way we get a bit of choice, actual impactful affixes & variety. And Blizz will get a ton of data which affixes we actually want to play (be it because it's annoying or just overtuned).

    Regarding M+ rewards above +20, I don't think it would really work. My suspicion is that they want general M+ rewards to be reasonable to get without jumping through too many hoops. Putting a reward behind a specific milestone like timed 25's or 3500io or whatever runs into the problem where that goal is EXTREMELY season-dependent. In any given season, you can expect +20's to be pretty much the same difficulty because that's what they tune around, because that's where the rewards cap. If they lock rewards behind higher breakpoints, either a) those breakpoints could be only attainable by title pushers anyway, or b) they'd have to tune the season around that breakpoint and then we're back where we started.

    Open all of the raids but the lock out for them is longer. If your guild can put 5 raids together and Loot Pinata out all three each time then great, but gives other guilds access to hit the bosses and/or raids they want.

    IMO a good way to do raids would be they open incrementally, but when they open they stay open. So like VotI opens and it’s open for 2 weeks just VotI, then week 3 AtSC opens, but VotI is still open and so on. You are power gated at the beginning when you spam gearing for ilvl anyway, guilds can progress in order and don’t feel the need to spam raids for gear, but if they’re struggling after 2 weeks, you can do Aberrus Hero/Normal for some extra gear and go back to VotI prog, etc.

    I love the idea of affixes only being positive. Then increase mob health so that using them properly is the challenge. Being a caster and getting an affix combo that puts bad things under your feel and makes you have to move every 4 seconds feels bad. But if my damage is increased by getting near the volcano and my damage is subpar if I dont play that properly would be fun.

    I've been saying for a while now they should introduce something similar to m+ but instead of pushing levels you push speed. And I kinda think that's how time running will be.
    You do a time walking dungeon, something a lot of people tend to pull fast as possible and large as possible and have people optimize speed and only speed. Imagine like once a month it just does a random expac and you do WOD time running for ex. You go as fast as possible, have a weekly leaderboard and people just purely push speed with no extra mob scaling. Would be super fun as an event and I think lean towards some of the midcore players. You have a competitive angle that doesn't involve egregious knowledge, skill or hours, in a much less toxic/stressful environment in a quarter of the time. Throw a title in for top 1% or some currency that scales up the faster you do it to buy some tmog - perhaps even challenge mode mogs for the corresponding expac and I'm willing to bet a lot of people would be running it when it came around as long as it stayed only an event like time walking currently is.

    My guess is that 10.2.6 is gunna have some way for them to trial delve technology/the way the work. They mentioned War Within will add delves to the new zone, maybe they plan to try some version of delves in the older zones, to get a feel for it. Although, not everyone would enjoy this kind of content, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's something more broad. Just a random guess

    One thing i can kinda see with the whole support spec debate is that if they add more support specs, eventually the density of support spells will be so high that everyone will be getting buffed at least a bit. I think utilizing the group exclusive buff tech like windfury could potentially solve the issue of buffs being stacked on a handful of busted classes without putting too many restrictions for m+ that its cumbersome.

    I think the Hero Talents like Dark Ranger will be pretty nice when they manage to do insane animations that suipport the Fantasy. Like if everything the hunter does is shadow themed and the barrage thingy looks just insane I think most players will appreaciate that and go with it even if it at the core just adds one ability and does damage. And I actually think thats athe sweetspot for something like this

    Open all three raids, combine the loot pools and lockouts. That way if your bis is off Rashok but your group wants to do Amirdrassil first cause it's fresh, you wont be screwed until your guild gets around to Aberrus. They just have to kill Larodar (or whoever has the same loot pool as Rashok).

    There was datamine suggesting that the .6 patch will be a Vampire Survivors game mode (as wild as it sounds) which would explain why you don't need to play on either classic or retail to make it work. I would love it as I think it could actually work really well using the engine of a MMO.

    Any of the bad mechanics on bossfights do affect "everyone". Anything that does absurd damage and one shots on a 28 is still problematic on a 20 and every key in-between. On a high key, these mechanics are "Idk how to live and survive these one shots" compared to a lower key where it is "Please let my team execute this perfectly and never mess up a mechanic and press their defensives". I'm coming from a pure healer POV, but DPS and Tanks can just come in and do the dungeon completely clueless even on these lower to mid 20 keys. If one and/or both of those roles fuck up, then who feels it the most and has to fix these issues, the Healer. These big hit mechanics that do scale to be one shots are not really healable at a certain point. It's even to the point where it feels like a lot of the time it is easier to heal the higher keys where people what they are doing than it is to heal the lower keys. This is even a problem in keys as low as the 16 range. If you have verse gear and you know what you are doing and hit your defensives, then it's a breeze. These bigger hits are usually telegraphed, but it's a lot harder to understand for players in the moment. Ticking damage is usually pretty obvious for the player and easier to understand how much damage they are taking and how much danger they are in. You can see your healthbar continuously move and know that when you are below 30% hp or whatever % that you are close to dying. These big hit mechanics are usually the biggest offenders of they do nothing until they fucking murder you. The best example of this is the Corrosive Infusion orb from Blight of Galakrond in Fall. It's such a joke of a mechanic until it starts chunking you for 60+% hp and ticking for another like 10-15%. Most of the worst offenders of these types of mechanics are on dungeon bosses. If people don't get their shit together, then you can do the boss fight 5+ times and still wipe to it with nothing to show for it. If for whatever reason your group keeps getting owned by certain packs of mobs or pulls, you can still complete the key. Eventually, you can take out the pack no matter how long it takes. I feel like keys especially up to 20's should be encouraged to be completed even if someone fucked up or it's out of time. I think it's a lot healthier for the game when 20s are achievable with some amount of effort and determination, not perfectly played boss fights. This is the reason why I say it affects "everyone" because I feel like Blizzard has made decisions that reinforce that they feel like 20s are the "end goal". That's where the best vault and loot drop rewards are, it's the quickest way to get the mount and alternate tier set effects, and this season they have made extremely lenient timers that they haven't changed. If the gear and the "end game m+" is more accessible to people, then you get more people playing, doing higher keys, and that helps everybody have more people to play with and exposes more people to the joys of higher keys.

    I like one shot checks. They don’t really exist until 27. And I can do keys as a healer without being pressured to do massive dps. When it’s only timer/dps checks it’s not fun to be a healer.

    So, the fated raid problem is easy to fix. Just give people a fated tuning stone, that you press and then choose your raid of the week. So everything is open but you can only fated lock one raid a week. Maybe make it a charge system like with set

      That is definitely no good fix. Doesnt fix it for any guild. You still have to pick what drawback you want. Either same raid for weeks and people not getting specific stuff they want or change raid and 'forget progress'

    Open all 3 raid but have Mythic be locked out to only one, so a guild on their first day raiding that week choose to lock themselves to vault, and they can prog that and get what they want. Then if they didn't clear vault then next week they can go back or choose to lock themselves to a new raid for that week to get gear from it. Then after a month or so of that open it up so that guilds can do 2 or all 3 of the raids in the same week if they want to. Prevents guilds from feeling like they have to raid more to complete more content at the start of the season when everyone wants all these huge upgrades, but still gives them the choice of what raid they want to do and when they want to do it. Then after a month people will be largely geared and they can have fun just doing all of the content they want.
    Side note cook: M+ should drop myth track at the end of dungeon when timing 25s (20s if we want it to be more accessible for more casual players but still earning it through harder content). This would make it feel a lot better when you are a spec that is hunting for a BiS item from a dungeon. As it is now the only way to get myth track from M+ is your weekly vault, which is up to 3 pieces of gear out of a massive pool of loot from the dungeons. This could also be locked for the first month or so, or until a .5 patch, so that people aren't just full Myth track by the end of the first few weeks of a season. It would however allow players who are a mix of hero and myth track (from raid and vault) be able to gain something from M+, as it is now after the first few weeks there aren't any drops from M+ that you don't have so it is just there to gain IO and fill your vault slots.
    An alternative (or also in addition to) that is less farmable is for there to be a currency added to the vault that you can only get from 25s (or 20s). You take it instead of a reward from the vault, like the current currency, then after two (or more) weeks worth of it you can exchange that currency for a loot bag that is targeted towards what you want. The way I think the targeting could work is there are two options. 1: You get a loot bag that drops 1 piece of myth gear for your loot spec from a chosen dungeon from the M+ pool, so for example you want the Iridal staff on myth track so you choose the bag that contains all the loot from Fall and you get a myth track piece of gear from Fall. 2: You choose a gear slot to get a bag containing all the gear that can go in that slot from all of the dungeons in M+ at that time. So for the Iridal example, you could choose a bag that is a weapon and you get a random myth track weapon from all of the dungeons loot pool. These options would allow players to target farm items easier while not making them infinitely farmable like the earlier option of higher keys just dropping myth track if timed.
    I think it makes sense in that mythic raiding is pretty challenging content, and high keys are similarly challenging. It would just balance out the rewards more. Right now it feels like shit to just wait for your vault to potentially drop 1 of the last 3 things you need at myth track.

    Azure vault always killed you on jumps if you tried that while leveling in normal, unless i missed changes i hope it allows to jump in m+. Makes sense blocking people in normal to get to last boss asap for bonus exp

    I think the best solution for the raid rotation is that all 3 raids are open, but the characters get loot locked to 1 raid a week. The good guilds that can clear the raid in a week are still able to do that and they can freely choose the order or just farm one raid a few weeks in a row if they want. The guilds that need some progression time would have the option to extend their lockout and continue where they left off the previous week. It would be kind of weird for pugs in normal and heroic because the playerbase could be split up, but I feel since those difficulties are a lot easier and the bosses are puggable in the first place, then it's not as bad as screwing over guilds that want to experience Mythic. This is the first tier where I've really tried to do Mythic and the fights are really fun, but, as I've learned, some groups struggle a lot. What should be an easy boss could take 3 or 4 weeks for them to kill and that's with continuously doing that raid 2 days a week.
    Fated raids feel like they are there to relive the hype moments and fights of the expansion when you are at your most powerful. So many classes have been changed and buffed and become so much better and more fun than in previous seasons. The biggest example is that you can actually play Mythic Razsageth as a Disc priest and have more agency on whether you live or not because you have Ultimate Penitance. I feel like another part of fated raids should be aimed at making them easier and more accessible for people to experience these fights. I liked your guys' ideas on the affixes being more about fun and beneficial instead of having a lot of annoying downsides. I don't know that it needs to be 100% free benefits like 2 lusts, but I feel like it should be a mechanic that you can completely ignore and kill the bosses and the raids like it was normally done when the fights were current content. However, if you are able to do a slight challenge, then you get a pretty big benefit that would make the fights easier. For example, an orb spawns somewhere in the room and there's an add that you have to throw the orb at. If you don't throw the orb at it nothing happens and fight proceeds as normal. If you do though, then you have to dps it down or do another mechanic that would then give you some sick benefit. Don't focus so much on the details of the pretend mechanic, but the sort of idea that I think the affixes should emulate.

      Why not open all three and just have the bosses in the same position share a slimmed down loot pool (ie Eranog, Kazarra, and Gnarlroot can drop the same items) and have the same lockout? They'd have to adjust Vault since it only has 8 but that's fine. It would solve the problem of reprog and if your bis is off Rashok and your group wants to prog Amirdrassil, you're not SOL. The only downside is if your group just wants easy loot, they'll just farm whatever is easiest but who gives a shit 'cause it's S4.

    Don’t make it use vault tokens make a coin you get for each slot you get in mplus over a ten maybe then make it cost 9 or twelve. That’s three or four weeks of me being encouraged to fill out my mplus vault slots.

    I think Hero talents will be a significant fail, which will hype the players and they left them with feeling of disappointment.
    My personal expectations was that hero talents will add a little of more favor to each specialization: strong theme animations, spells with additional effects to matching the theme, some quality of life maybe. In in general that's it... not reshaking/rebulding how spells works on the basic level, not introducing new boring maintenance buffs or debuffs.
    How I personally see it, it's just that Blizzard does not understand its player base and its expectations, always going agains the flow, insted of with it. This can be already recognizable after releasing 8 trees. Additional part of possible failure is that they are putting new layer, when in case of many classes the base layers is not yet finished.
    I wish there would be just option to not select any Hero spec and receive direct % buff in damage, healing or anything what they are trying to target. Just a backup plan for the players if there will be no good pick for them.
    Evoker, Mage talents are spicy? Could be that they were choose with blessed finger of rework.

    on the damage thing and support. I actively don't care about support for or against, cool it is their, but you gotta give me some sort of tool to figure out how I can suck less. Cause I am not great, but I hate being a carry, so just like give everyone support stuff, but I gotta have a way to be able to figure out how I am doing if there is this much support out there.

    You guys should do a whole episode about civilian guilds. Bring in someone in a rank 300-1k guild who can talk about it, cause Max has NO IDEA what it's like for the majority of CE raiders these days lol. There are like 1k+ guilds who get CE every tier but don't compete for hall of fame or anything, and that's really the majority of people who experience mythic end bosses. Talk about roster issues, what it's like extending for 2 months straight, waiting for nerfs, etc.

    i feel like yall have decided that the dung pool for s4 should just be all the dragonflight dungs. but in the last fated season we had all the mega dung + 2 regular - this is the first time we can do a full mega dung season witch i find super neat due to all the cool and interesting loot u can get from them, am i alone here? :D great poddyc btw bois keep it up o7
