Wirewool on the cooper works well or wire brush on a drill for the stubborn bits . Tiling looks great . Black grout doesn't get dirty its always black . White grout turns black under a woodburner . You may need to do something around the flue pipe exit and the ceiling cladding . Not up on narrow boat safety regs . ?
Ooh that's good to know. Thank you! Thank you! Yeah grey grout all the way as white is bound to get really dirty by the stove. Yes as for the flue pipe exit, I'm currently looking for a collar so we can correct that part too as it's definitely in need of making safer!

Yeahhhhh, morning guys, so glad you’re here. Firstly, I love those boots Bex. Chris no matter how hard I try I can’t get my gloves to go on by slapping them the way you do but I’ll keep practicing. The fire is going to look brilliant, love the copper idea, it’s made me think that maybe our wood heater (which looks the same size as yours) in the new house isn’t big enough to heat the whole place, might price a bigger one, hopefully if we get it we won’t need to change the tiles. maybe get some flexi pipe and fit something temporarily in the evening when you stop? I used to carry an old gas bottle burner for emergencies..heat is essential in winter tho :P
thats a cracking idea, we have a few small blow heaters but there so expensive to run, and when you turn them of it gets cold again ager 5 minutes 😂

I'm with you Becca. The best thing about my present house( besides my wood stove and firewood sheds)is my workshop. Except my bench saw is broken at the moment. Mum taught us girls well. Been trying to encourage my granddaughter. But she prefers whittling wood rather than cutting it and banging it together to make things.

So glad u guys are back. Loved the Halloween special, I think I got drunk that night just by watching u guys. U really did an incredible job editing it all together. I saw in a comment, that the viewership may have not been the same. Now I know you are more than busy right now &I am not sure if you guys have an Insta &tiktok acct, but a short and link to a video like that in the future& I am sure it will drive your views up. Esp useful for when you guys become cruisers.
I know this boat is gonna look smashing in the end, cause all great things take their time. Plus you have literally touched, repaired, fixed every inch of the boat & that will come in handy- if some does goes wrong.
So mamy things I cant wait for, one of them is, when you are all done & you do a final walk-through video episode, before u set off cruising& u do a look back for each room / area, making the journey we all have been on with you two complete. Make it a drunken sloshy night video of "remember when" moments.
Although I will in some ways miss these type of repair videos, I really can not wait for all the shenanigans you two will get up to that lay ahead, while you cruise.

(Even though I am an ol Rockabilly chick at heart, the older one gets, the more willing one is to make exceptions hahaha)
In all seriousness.. I am so very excited (I keep saying this, but I know its true) for how close to the finish line u are& to finally set off into the blissful sunset together. Just dont forget to pack the Marigolds. Never knew til there was u guys they had a name besides "gloves that are designed for super nasty jobs, but strangely not for one time use only"

Oddly, I am watching this episode being a lil bundled up, as the repair to the heater in the house took a bit of a turn when I heard an oops from the tech guy.
Being an old welder, I know all kinds of diff oops& this one wasn't one of those pleasurable, suprise oops, this deffo was one of those, "shit, I just broke some oops". So by tomorrow the other part is being ordered& hopefully at some point before the weekend the original reason of why he was here & the new reason why he has to come back again will all get fixed.
In the meantime, I am a bit more bundled up &the 4 yr project to prep my parents' home to be sold slowed down a little until he is done.
So, one doesnt have to be necessarily on a NB for things to go sideways or take a bit longer until u get to arrives at the finish line.
By the end of this yr though I am finally done, which means once Mom is settled in her new place, I finally get to pack up all my tools, head to England&look for a NB to rebuild. A 15 yr old dream in the making. The great news, I just showed an old friend of mine who is a Master carpenter the kitchen design (from a game I love)& he said no prob, just say when. It's nice to have friends willing to travel to work, drink&have a hilarious time.
See I too have my finish line now finally in sight after everything has taken 2 yrs longer than I originally planned. I aint complaining, just getting a lil restless.
Anyways, enough from me for today. So yeah to us &here is to freezing together hahahaha. Hopefully, not for long.

We just like to have fun and do what we feel is going to be a fun episode. We dont have too many restrictions with the channel.
Yes we do have a few social media pages but rarely update them, we just dont have alot of time though we will start doing them again, we are really happy and amazed at how well the channel has done, its quite mind blowing to be stuck on a project like this for the last few years and to have the Chanel growing and growing.
im actually going to do a small walk through video as its been a while but the one at the end will be the biggy, I think when we cruise there will be a whole new story line unfolding and so may adventures, I literally cant wait..im so jealous of the other narrowboat channels cruises, and the boat will also be such a monster by this point with all Beccas amazing ideas.
Yes Merch would be fun, id like to come up with a few fun ideas for that. The DIY part of the channel was just meant to be get the channel going a bit before our main aim the cruising but it seams to have takes a life of its own

oh woaw, we both want to learn how to weld actually, it would be very handy for the boat. So you have a project yourself and must know exactly how long these sort of projects can take. That will be such lovely new for your mum.. whoa....you might beat us to the actual canals then too 😂😂 the narrowboat was a 15 year dream of mine too...and it will live up to the excitement eventually im sure, keep warm ❤️

Cut one corner first, about 10mm, then turn it around and cut from the other end.
We did try this but that didn't always seem to work either?? Fortunately we had plenty of tiles to cut what we needed!

Copper cleaning was impressive. You might want to look at a protective layer as copper tarnishes very quickly, due to the likes of oxygen and so on.

Hi bex & Chris, just a little advice when you come to laying your tiles I would use flexi adhesive. Xx the fireplace will look absolutely gorgeous can't wait to see it finished you were so lucky finding that copper. Can't believe someone chucked it out 😊😊
Yes I think your right Tina we will need to use the flexible adhesive, hasn't Bex done grand job once again , I didn't want to go anywhere near it but its come up so amazing, what a great find, go Bex
@@TheNomadicCrobot she's done an amazing job she's very talented. I'm a tiler by trade and we always use flexi adhesive on anywhere where there is movement like wooden floors. With the hearth did you allow for spacers for the grout lines you will need a gap between the tiles for the grout xx

Are the tiles a legal requirement? because if not, then they should wait until the whole boat is fully functional, both at the marina and underway. Aesthetics last.
They probably aren't a legal requirement but it seems silly to not tile it now whilst the stove is out. Taking the stove in and out is a really messy affair and we don't really want to cement the flue all in only to have to crack it to get it out again in the future so we can tile it then. Plus we are concentrating on getting the lounge complete and we can't really oil the floor until the fire is done so it made sense to do it this way. Thanks for your comment 😊
Obviously to late now but wrong sort of tile cutter even so it would have worked better if you started the cut one end then turned the tile round and cut from the other end so no chipping of the ends.I have noticed that after your silly spider video on Halloween you only got half your normal viewers so that tells you people are only interested in seeing you work on the boat and putting up with Chris 😊😊😊
