I wish you could do sickle cell disease. I have a collapsed right hip and 2 years ago I came out of a 5 day coma. 3 weeks later I had a severe seizure in which I fractured my hip that I had replaced on the left hip. This will be my second hip replacement. In severe pain pretty much daily but still planning to graduate college, write a book, and do RUclips. I wish I could feel an hour of no pain but that may not happen. I was told I wouldn't live to see 18-21. I'm 30. My heart a month ago was going to stop and the doctors still haven't figured out why my potassium, magnesium, and blood levels will drop to abnormal levels. My heart rate is rarely as low as 120. Living in so much pain is so frustrating especially when I want to accomplish certain things such as my degree and I can't because of the excruciating pain I have to deal with 24/7.
I'm learning how to stop saying why me and instead saying why not me. I'd love for you to hear my story.
I'm hoping to try and get more consistent with my RUclips channel so I can reach more people and bring more awareness to this painful and terrible disease. If you read this I'd be so shocked!

@@its_like_this_onca9068 Claire's life was not a cliffhanger for people to get some sick entertainment from. She was a human being, not a character in a movie. There are a lot of people that were completely affected by her in many ways and a lot of people who are still mourning her passing. You are a sick person for comparing her life to some movie that is there for your entertainment. Seriously, what is wrong with you?

I’m sorry, I find it gross that people think she was put here by God to teach us a lesson through her suffering and untimely death. It’s a really selfish way to look at things. I know that these things are commonly said and aren’t meant to be offensive, but when people rationalize suffering by thinking that it’s something we need to see in order to learn some sort of lesson about life it, by it’s nature, takes away from the triumphs of the person themselves. She was a wonderful person, she had aspirations, she had goals, and she wanted to live a full life which was unfortunately taken from her by her illness. This is no one’s fault, and it is sad, and scary to see someone so young die in such a way. By making her death inevitable - something pre-ordained by God - it perverts what her death really meant and how sad her death really is. Her life was not for us to learn from, it was for her to live. She decided, buy her own free will, To share her experience and teach those of us who would listen. She was graceful and beautiful, elegant and smart. She had wit and humor, and talent, that outshined her disease. And she deserves all the credit. Don’t take the credit away from her by making this pre-ordained. We can miss her, we can be sad for her, and we can try to set the same examples that she did. Let’s give credit where credit is due.

It's almost incredible, like... she was learning how to experience the vulnerability of being hopeful for good things pretty much at the same time I was. I'm not dealing with terminal illness myself, but I had some rough years in my late teens and early twenties that deeply skewed my perspective on what my future could look like... and then I learned I could rely on my friends and family again, and then I found an online community dedicated to positive storytelling (which is how I describe The Adventure Zone and the fans because it Really Genuinely Isn't Just A DnD Podcast) and realized that there were others out there who wanted good things too, and then I started dating my boyfriend who became my fiancé within about a year. And I think that's a good part of why Claire's death was so devastating for me; it was beautiful and intensely relatable to see her opening up to the possibilities of living for that much longer. She deserved more than anyone to have the transplant and recovery go well and to experience the payoff of that hope.

It’s not always that easy. I have physical health conditions and I suffer from depression and PTSD. Put them together and some days the only thing that gets me out of bed is the pain. I keep the paracetamol in the kitchen so I have to get up and move about as much as I can, but my various ailments make serious exercise impossible. I have to limit food intake to lose weight to put less stress on my body...so that I can exercise again, but the calorie deficit causes tiredness and chronic fatigue is a side effect of my cardiac condition and some of the medication I have to take.
That said, these people do inspire me to do better. They are all so generous and beautiful and I wish them the very best and thank them profusely.

That's the problem with cancer, they can remove the symptoms and tumors and you think it's gone, but it's really not because the root CAUSE of what started it in the first place is still there, most likely a genetic component, an immune system defect allows cancer to grow in the first place.

I cried when she died so horrendously tragic, even though I can guess, she’d still would have found it all worthwhile, because a community coming together to make the transplant happen, was such a beautiful thing to see once in a lifetime and that it had been just a shot at life from the beginning after all.
