  • Chanel White was only 19 years old and planning her wedding when she started noticing odd pains. She thought it was just wedding stress, but by her honeymoon she was having full symptoms of severe scleroderma, systemic lupus, polymyositis, and mixed connective tissue disease. After years of living off a feeding tube, Chanel received a successful bone marrow transplant and is now enjoying her “bonus life”.
Shannon Sylvian was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer at 31. Determined to find the solution, Shannon and her physician discovered that many if not all cancers thrive in sugar-rich environments. Her organization, Brown Sugar Rehab, provides education and financial resources so that others can have access to a longer, healthier life.

Theses series have shown me how I’ve been living wrong. I’m in remission, I have stage 3 lung cancer. I’m living just knowing this remission won’t last long so why try and act happy. Omg, I have to live till I die. Don’t die before my heart stops. We are all born dying, but until we get sick we don’t know it, we are to busy living..God Bless us one and all!!!

“If he went blind and he needed my eyes, and that was the only way he could see, I’d be blind for the rest of my life.”… Imagine loving someone or having someone love you that much! Shannon’s story really has me crying like a baby because I cannot imagine losing the love of my life.

Love like that does exist in the world, still, even in July 2021. I had a love like that. He was shot down, serving the USA, doing what he loved to do. I nearly died from the grief of losing him. There are good men out there in the world, I have lost desire to have one. I'm happy in my life, volunteering, helping others, working in a career I love. Saving up $$ to pursue my dream. Single & celibate by choice.

I can relate so much to Chanel's story in a variety of ways. I received a stem cell transplant in 2006 after my leukemia relapsed. I too still have chemo brain due to how much chemo and radiation I had to have to treat the leukemia and then to prepare for the transplant. I met a few others that were going through similar situations and they lost their fight so I often still wonder why I am still here and they are not. Fortunately, the transplant worked and my leukemia has been in remission since 2006. However, as a side effect from the stem cell transplant, I am now living with a rare and progressive disease that is destroying my heart and lungs. My doctors gave me a 5 year prognosis in 2006/2007 when diagnosed and here I am still today. I might require oxygen when I move about, but I am still alive and that is the most important part. I am so glad Chanel's transplant has given her this second chance at life as well.

This! one hundred times!. The love between Jessica and her husband made me cry first off because I couldn't help but think, in my romantic brain 'what a soulmate connection' and then Shannons story... I'm the kind of person who gives a piece of myself to people I love, and I keep them in my heart and my mind 24/7. When I think of being in a relationship, God do I want it, but I- and you and everyone else- deserve someone that loves you just as much as you love them. That mutual connection that defines the meaning of 'cherish'. Potent stuff. Seeing people that have found that is joyous, even in these tragic cases. Jessica said it well that love is the key. I really felt that.

I was able to watch these stories without crying…until Bethy was crying because she didn’t want Shannon to feel worse watching her husband David’s story, as he died from the same type of cancer Shannon has. Watching Shannon, in obvious pain, and knowing how little time she had left, getting up to embrace Bethy…I just lost it, started bawling. These two women, both in so much pain, for different reasons, being only concerned about the others’ feelings. I wish everybody would watch this…the world seems to have lost so much compassion and empathy for our fellow humans. I just want to be a better person after watching this series.

Honestly cried the whole way thru Shannon’s story. As a someone who had cancer (rare & aggressive type with a 90% of coming back) in 2018 at 23 years old and getting confirmation on the cancer gene testing 2019. Now being evaluated for colon cancer currently. I’ve dealt with the acceptance of death, and over committed myself in different areas of life to leave my mark on the world. Since I don’t have children at least friends and family can look back at my desire to live just in case a long life isn’t my reality. Shannon’s story made me realize how her husband supports her quiet but he’s deeply broken on the solo interview! At least he will have shared time and closure. It’s an eye opener and I realize I should share my health issues with my life now. Think less about unwanted pity and more about their closure.

I can’t believe how much Shannon’s story speaks to my family. My mom was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in Spring 2011. We didn’t know at that time that we were going to lose her. The oncologist would say, “We’re going to fight this with all
we’ve got.” She went to live 4 years on chemo. In April of 2015 her beautiful heart stopped beating at age 54. We were fortunate to have her home with us until there was nothing more my dad could do and we lost her 11 days after went into palliative care. I believe her strong will to live got her to 4 years. I blessed to have my mom for 29 years. She was born on the 22nd and left us on the 22nd. I’ve told people why I don’t like Spring and unless they’ve also lost someone special sometimes people don’t understand.

Jennifer - Please don't lose your faith. God is full of love and mercy for all of us. As it states in the bible, He is giving those who are lost more time because he is very very patient. The earth is ruled by satan and that is why we see all the bad and evil people do horrible things, but God loves us all the same and He is hoping and giving them the chance to accept Jesus, His only Son, who he sent here to die for our sins. He came here willingly and died on the cross even though He was sinless to repay our sin debt in full so that those who put their faith in Him will be able to live on in eternity with Him. May God bless you and give you peace in your heart.

    • @tchili1

@@shobanarao7663 Yes! You are exactly right. It says in the Bible that God is giving them time to repent and put their faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, and turn away from sinning to live a righteous life. My Mom was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer when I was only 19, and left me with my raging alcoholic father. It was a horrible death because back then they didn't treat her pain like they do now. But, she was an amazingly strong Christian who lived for Him every single day. I was devastataed when she was diagnosed because we were a team and she was my protector, but also she was a codependant so it was a very difficult thing for me to process her dying, especially at my young age, so I didn't. Kept it all bottled up inside for 10+ years until one day it all came spewing out at the most inappropriate time, so I went to counselling and that was another traumatic and horrible experience that gave me a nervous breakdown, but I still worked and cared for my husband and daughter while getting my nursing degree. All I can say is that my faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior got me through it. His strength has gotten me through the roughest of times and I pray that you have Him in your heart as well to deal with all the trials that come with being an ACOA. God bless you.

No one deserves the pain that they have endured, and to see them smiling and at peace. My God this is beyond beautiful and beyond true and pure love. Earth Angels to say the least! Shannon told her doctor her symptoms and the doctor basically ignored them. Imagine had she’d know earlier. Very sad.

Bechir stated living in fear was tiring. He helped me recognize I have been living in tiring fear...I am ready to be free from fear now and to live openly to share how I want and need to be loved and give my love. Also to step into those areas I've been working to. These 3 videos on these five families are in my gratitudes tonight for their breaking the bits of fear off me and pushing me open to be loved and give love. Thank you, guys.
