    Yet another reason why, pound for pound, the champion of flashes is the AD200. I almost bought a V1 for hot shoe flash at weddings and events,. For nearly the same price of an AD200 it was a hard choice but I knew I couldn't make an AD200 work on my camera! That's until you put us on to the extension with the round head. So I bought an additional AD200 instead of a V1 and I was able to bounce with 200 watts of power. 2 Ad200's with the extension accessory and you got a beast of a kit. Thanks so much!

  • @mverick160
    @mverick160 2 года назад +6

    The AD200 round head drops the power you get from the AD200. It pretty well matches what the Ad100 puts out from testing. If you could put the Ad200 fresnel or Ad200 bare bulb in it you'd gain power. The round head is nice on the Ad200 but the power drop off isn't worth it if you already own ad100's.

      I did not know there was an extension head!

    • @pmurph5
      @pmurph5 Год назад +1

      @@gosman949 It is the Godox EC200 extension flash head. It really is an extension cable. One end goes onto the AD200 like the other heads (rectangular speedlight, bare bulb, optional round head, optional LED). At the other end of the cable you mount the head that you want.
      For use with the Angler FastBox with the Godox V1 adapter, you’ll only be able to use the round head (whether it is directly on the AD200, or is attached to the end of the EC200 extension cable).

    • @gosman949
      @gosman949 Год назад

      @@pmurph5 yes I see that now! I'm ordering the round head. The extension is too much like my AD360s, which has that pesky cord hanging off of it.

    • @pmurph5
      @pmurph5 Год назад +1

      @@gosman949 Just to clarify, you can put the AD200 with round head directly on the Angler FastBox -- no cable needed. This does put more weight on the magnets. If you have the old 14-magnet V1 adapter, that could be a problem if the stand gets bumped or you're hand-holding. If you have the new FB-CA 6-magnet adapter, the new locking tab at the top will eliminate that problem.
      Or, buy an AD100 and use it instead of the AD200+round head. It will cost more ($299 for the AD100 vs. $80 for the round head). But it is smaller and lighter. Also, the AD100 occasionally goes on sale for $199. While the round head also goes on sale (it's currently $60 at B&H), I'd wait for an AD100 sale and put the $80 (or $60) towards the AD100.
      I say this speaking as a person with 4 AD200s, 4 round heads and 2 extension cables. I sold two of my AD200s to pay for two AD100s (purchased on sale). I love the AD100s and the Angler FastBox 24". (I also love the older 14-magnet V1 adapter for the FastBox since it packs flatter than the new FB-CA 6-magnet locking tab adapter.)

      @@pmurph5 I have FB-CA adapter with AD200 round head. Unfortunately the round head does not fit completely in the adapter and does not attach to the magets (there is a sizable gap between the round head and the magnets). Please let me know if I’m missing something here. I’m afraid if I push harder I’d break something.

  • @pmurph5
    @pmurph5 Год назад +2

    As of September 21 2020, I believe B&H no longer sells the V1 or Profoto “all magnet” adapters. These have 14 magnets to hold the flash head.
    Instead, the new FB-CA adapter is supplied. This has 6 weaker magnets plus a locking tab which ensures the flash cannot fall out.
    While that is good, the adapter is also twice as deep. When the FastBox is folded, the FB-CA will stick up about 1” higher than the old V1/Profoto adapters which were flush with the FastBox.
    Note there is currently some confusion at the B&H page for the kit with the 24” FastBox, V1 adapter and grid. One photo shows the old 14-magnet adapter, another shows the new FB-CA. If you order this, you will get the FB-CA.

    I have just bought the Adorama eVOLV 200 Pro TTL (their version of the Godox AD200Pro). The eVOLV 200 Round Flash Head (Godox H200R) absolutely does not fit into the adapter ring that I use with my AD100Pro flashes on the Angler Fastboxes. I saw that you were able to get it into the Angler adapter while it was on the flash head extension, which is what I am trying to do as well. I am wondering if there has been some design change? Maybe if I buy an older round flash head, it might work better? I can get it to work with the Fresnel head, but I'm disappointed that the round head doesn't work. It looks like Angler will soon be coming out with an adapter for the bare bulb head, which should be interesting.
    April 10, 2024-I just got the FB-PA2 adapter ring. Now, I can confirm that this works with the Angler Fastboxes and the Godox Round Head on the extension cable. The 14 magnets on this adapter ring hold quite well. Writing to Angler did not resolve the problem. Angler staff told me that soon an adapter for AD200Pro would be coming out ($90, on their site). However, they were referring to the same adapter which is available now on the SMDV site for $49.95, which I also bought. This adapter, however, is for the bulb head. I can confirm that it works well.
