- ND filters don't really get a lot of love from me, but recently I needed to use one with my Godox AD200 Pro and I loved the results! In today's video I go over why I needed it, how I organized this shoot, and how I edited the shot. Hope you like it! =)

I've been looking for years for a video, where someone's sharing and explaining the editing process. Not to copy. To learn new techniques, points of view, etc.
I'm really glad I've found your channel.
Thank you so much for the value content.
Beautifully done and technique explained. I'm sure Julia loved what you did to enhance her photo shoot.
The video was long, but you covered everything and left nothing out which I appreciated. I have watched and appreciated a few of your videos. This one twice. I must confess that I was surprised that no one mentioned what appeared to be a possible mystery word in the clouds behind Julia. LOL! Please keep up the great work!!!
Another excellent and informative video. Thank you. With regards to using ND filters, or any circular filters for that matter, instead of buying one for each lens, just buy one for the size for your largest lens and then buy step up rings for your smaller lenses. These allow all different sized lenses to attach to the filter. They only cost a couple of dollars each too!
Your explanation was just incredible
Love love love this photo. Amazing content. Thanks for making this video. You are the best photographer out there.
Beautiful shots my dude 🙌🙌 Great video
I just used your tip on selective colour on some shots I took today. I thought they were a bit bland but now they are "Wow!". thanks!
Thank you very much for sharing your techniques adding the BTS. Its very helpful!! I follow you on IG and you add a lot of BTS there. So once again THANK YOU and keep up the good work!!!
Underrated channel, great work man!
As for Godox triggers you can use a canon trigger on a nikon or Sony on Manuel application only.
Love showing the before & afters, also how you edited to get the final photo!! 👍🏼❤️
I use the RevoRing and it fits most of my lenses. Twist and release. Super convenient.
Wow what a great video. New the channel and I subscribed and liked the video in 1 min 3 seconds, that never happens! Look forward to seeing more content.
Thankyou!!..I really enjoyed your video. Beautiful photo.
THANKS FOR THIS INFORMATIONAL VIDEO! great work
Bro keep that content coming! Love your video style
Beautiful image. Thanks for the info.
Looking forward to your video on the STC Optics Sensor Filter! I am caught between getting the 6 stop or the 4 stop ND filter and I’d like to know which you would use for what type of look / situation. :)
Loved it 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Hey buddy, great video! I have a question. By using an ND filter aren't you essentially reducing the power of the flash, like when using high speed sync? Say your flash is at full power, then you slap an ND filter on. The image will be underexposed, no? That's what I mean about an ND filter reducing flash power too. I don't understand when you said high speed sync cuts down the power of the flash but ND filters don't @ 2:15. I understand in a physical sense they don't, but in the end it's the same effect, isn't it? In the end both high speed sync and ND filters are both limiting the amount of light from the flash entering the sensor. Just two different methods of doing so. Am I missing something?
There's more to the story. HSS is literally cutting down the power in order to work. ND filters are basically sunglasses for your lens. It's not affecting the power of the light at all.Imagine a flashlight shining on something and then you put on sunglasses. Did you lower the flashlight? No, you just reduced the exposure of the whole scene. HSS is like putting on sunglasses and also reducing the output of the flashlight. I regret not going over this more in the video so thanks for commenting.
Hi 👋 can you recommend some good filter for shooting on sunny days. ☺
Hey Fernandes. Are you still using the over the sensor ND filters...they dont seem to be in popular usage. What may be the reason?
Great Video! may i ask you which C-stand are you using ? ( i mean the one behind you) i am using Walimex but i would like to know if there is a professional alternative for shooting outside (with no people helping lightning)
thank you 🙏🏻
killer content as always, thank you brother 👍🏼
a tip about using ND filters: get one ND filter kit for the biggest size lens you have, and then just get adapter rings so you can use the same ND filter on lenses with smaller diameter. super simple and super cheap way to go about it.
The amount I’ve learned from you is incredible. Thank you, truly 👍🏻
I learned and liked it. Thanks man!
Thanks for sharing your workflow! Keep up the good work!
Great video as usual brother. I actually prefer ND filters over high speed sync. I know it's a preference thing. When I was using Einsteins in the past, it was the best option available. I eventually went to the Flashpoint/godox lights a couple of years ago, and I I would find myself reverting back to ND Filters often. Your flash doesn't get taxed a hard. Love the breakthrough filters.
Nice lesson, dodge & burn is on of the key part
Great video again. Thanks for taking the time to do these.
Do you have the link to the light spigot you used? I’m trying to attach my flash to my mono pod
Wow, I really need to keep up with this series. Great stuff!
i guess im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account?
I stupidly forgot the account password. I love any help you can offer me.
@Phoenix Fox Instablaster :)
@Imran Jasper Thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm.
I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Imran Jasper It worked and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my account :D
@Phoenix Fox no problem :D
H Francisco, great video but I watched this video a number of times hoping to see how and when you actually adjusted the VND filter to darken the sky before switching on the flash. This section was very important for me but you seemed to skip over this part far too quickly, could you please explain in more detail this part of the process. Thank you
You can always use Cokin system, so you can use one filter with different lenses.
Beautiful photographs.
Nice work man. Where can I get that version of LR 2018
Hello, I would like to know in which profile you take your photos on the sony a7rlll
I am new in this high speed sync flash setup, I never try before after looking at your video and others , I have interest to get one to try out. But I am not sure whether as begineer I dont want to spend that budget and dont want to carry so much on travel. I came around one Godox SK400 iI which only have a max speed of 1/2000 and intend to use in day time or sometime evening and with ND 3 stop filter , can it be setup to match AD200 pro or AD400 which have speed of 1/8000 sec. ?
Buy just one ND Filter for your biggest lens and use step up/down rings.
Very true, but then you have to worry about extra things which isn't as convenient as HSS.
I haven't had any problems with high speed sync. with the AD200 & my Nikon. But the ND filter idea may be a good alternative.
Hi Could you advise what is the diff between Ad200 and the new AD200Pro
6:02
do you normally do this for client images, just wondering if its worth it, like do you make any money with it?
Would you need and Nd filter if you were using an ad400 ?
How many stops of nd did you use
Hello sir, i wish to buy AD200 godox flash.....but i dont know which softbox i will select......can you please tell me which one is the best
wow, cool photos
Thank you so much for this video. It’s so densely packed with information!
Good job... ND filters are my preferred choice because of the power issue you spoke of. I don't mind the color corrections. Pretty Shazzy editing 👊
thanks for sharing man!!!you killed it!!!!!!!!like always!!
Really like these type of videos!
Great job! Really detailed and informative! You got a new subscriber in me!!👏🏾👏🏾😁
You can buy one filter like Hoya ND 82mm with variable 9 stops and a group of step up and down adaptors and you are good to go.
Hi Francisco, so, today I made a family shot, around 20, 25 images I will deliver, if I want to have them all consistency I must do this kind of editing (plus a personal ones) on all of them, right? Do you do this kind of editing too when you have a bunch of pictures or just on those you want them to pop up?
Amazing Job :) Congratulations :)
Can I have the link for the foldable softbox?
Wow, that's a lot of work. Your images look stunning and pop right out. May I ask how long it took you to edit the image in PS? Because it is quite a lot of changes. If it's a lot of time (hours), then how is this sustainable if you have multiple images, models and shoots? Thanks
Amazing video. Never seen but always wanted such a video with so much detail in BTS not just for shooting but for editing too. Thankyou so much 😁
Love the shot! I was just wondering, what is the reason you mostly go for pre posed static portrait shots? You shoot with a camera with a constant eye auto focus option no? So you have the possibility to for the model to move, and still have the eyes in focus.
Great use of ND filter! Good photos and thanks a lot for sharing....I just couldn't help seeing that one piece of straw below the models eye that makes me want to take it out :P
Incredible
Absolutely stunning results!
Which company nd filter is this?
That’s at 1/250 shutter speed. A cheap manual flash can get very similar results. Can we see HSS over 1/1000 shots?
Whoa is that a camera clock?
Great work! Ive been wanting to get a little one light setup for outdoor portraits instead of everything natural light all the time. Will that AD200 fit in the less expensive octaboxes on Amazon? Like the cheaper Neewer ones and such? Thanks
Yes it does 👍, the cheap godox box comes with the adapters on Amazon
You’re inspiring me to do portrait work man. Thanks for the tips!
Great instructional video
"Indy filter" haha CC! Great video man and I love the photo. Can't believe you haven't shot a redhead before! They are the best!!
Awesome detailed video, thank you for sharing your work...It's appreciated;
Hey Fransisco. Just wondering what ever happened to the video you said you would make on the STC Clip Filters for Sony. I really trust your judgement and would love to know if its worth it and what are the pros and cons. Keep up the great work
Can you help me please
am a beginner, I left today all happy with the solete to take photos and it would not let me go over 1/200 speed, if I put automatic mode I would go up to 1/380 or 1/400 alone and in manual mode it does not let me ... ...
Is there any way I can use my trigger and that the camera in manual mode can change the shutter speed from 1/200 to higher (IT ONLY ALLOWS ME TO INCREASE THE SHUTTER SPEED WHEN I DISCONNECT THE TRIGGER XPRO BUT WHEN I CONNECT IT AGAIN, IT LOWS ME TO 1 /200)
Since I have verified that when I place the 1/1000 trigger, I lower 1/200 and I do not understand what the reason is if it is in M mode (Manual) I should be able to handle it as I pleased.
I use the godox Ad200
HELP PLEASE 🙏😭
My guess is you need to enable HSS on the transmitter. You have the XPro transmitter?
@@fjhphoto
I need your help
Before in Manual mode
I could in the LV button I could go visualizing when I made adjustments such as increasing the iso or shutter speed or diaphragm aperture when I made changes visualizing in on the screen (LV) but now when I make changes I only see that the numbers change but in (LV) I can't see if the light goes up or down
I explain
Before in LV I could visualize how the subject darkened or lightened by setting iso, aperture or shutter speed but no longer
And I'm interested to know if something is wrong with my camera
I use a Nikon D3300
I always enjoy your videos, thanks!
Not totally related, but maybe you'll have an idea: How does Irene achieve such beautiful (almost flash like...) results with only natural light? What's the secret?
EagleXL one thing I admire about photographers who use natural light a lot is their ability to read and predict great lighting. Having an eye for that really helps in the end result but of course Irene is a master of her craft too with posing, getting great expressions, and keeping the shoot very natural (not posed). It's something you need to practice to develop. I'm working on getting better at natural light myself.
I use an AD 600 pro 135 1.8, Hoya 6 stops plus CPL and a softbox. I still need to be on HSS at ISO 50, afternoon sun in the tropics and I cant get get enough power to light my subject.
Great work Francisco ! Do you think you'll stick to the A7Riii or from now on take the A7RIV ?
I'm using the A7RIV right now and after a month I'll decide if I'm going to keep it or get something else. If another sony camera comes out soon like the A7SIII I would want that instead for the better video features it should have.
another solution is to get an nd filter for your largest lens diameter and then use step up rings to use that filer on your other lenses.
What ND filter do you use, the one I have is crap.
Jesus that a lot of information. Thank uoi
the degree of power drop will be highly related to your shutter speed
You're amazing photographer.
Inspiration for me.
amazing work thanks alot for sharing the details and the edits thanks again....
Your videos are always so helpful and inspiring. It really helps us people who are new to this stuff to know all the ins and outs of capturing photos at this level. Love this series, thank you
Than you sooooo much for this amazing video. Really helpful.
how you made exif?
I love your videos man
Your work and explaination is better and easy to understand than most professors in the universities.
never had this issue with Canon. Sorry to hear about your equipment failure.
Thanks - you lost me at the end there though - not sure what you were doing with that black and white adjustment.
You are simply amazing!
Please suggest me a nd filter for my sigma 16 mm lens 💝
Thank You!
3 stop ND enough for bright outdoor portraits? Thank you!
It could be enough. Depends on your settings and how you want to expose for the scene.
Thank You......well appreciated.
Cool as always bro ;)
I have the same equipment and I never get anything similar jajaj, the photographer is actually the key.
awesome content!
Hey brotha,
Know its been months removed from this photo shoot. Have you tried using Capture One?
I check mostly for sessions that use the AD200 because I want to buy it.
Interesting topic. I suggest you make a seperate clip on editing. I came here for info on the flash but there is very little mentioned.
