We have 5, the same 5 we’ve been using for 3 years. Not one fail. Battery life is phenomenal and so easy to pop in a spare! We have all the accessories because they really extend the creativity options. We can’t imagine any piece of photo gear as cost effective as our AD200’s.
Honestly, I’ve tried so many different units and the 200s always come out on top in every facet. I know I sound really biased but for the money there’s no better flash. And no Godox doesn’t pay me 😂
I love my AD200. One advantage of the AD100 though, is sharing the battery type with the V860iii and V1, allowing you to keep things simple with chargers, spares etc.
Thank you for watching! lol you may not like our next video. I bought the 100 to test it. It let me down in several ways, which made me like the 200 just that much more. We’ll be posting it today or tomorrow
I had a HS Shoot yesterday, I use a 43in bounce as so light and easy to walk in the woods with. I was F1.4 1/640 HSS and only need 1/16 juice. Pics looked great. I have shot one AD200 in a 65In at 1/2 power, really balanced the light and looked amazing on that shoot.
I've been eyeing the AD200s for a while now! When photography was just a hobby for me I went with budget dups, the Neewer Q3 200s. They have done their job for me so far, but once they stop working I'm upgrading to the Godox line. This size work great too as I can fit both my Q3 200 in my backpack with other lens no problem, I couldn't do this with AD300/400s.
Yeah man it really is a great size-power ratio. The 300/400/600 just becomes more of a chore in my opinion to be able to carry around. Plus all these 200's work with Godox on-camera flashes so we use it in the reception sometimes as a room light. Thank you for watching Edgar!
The AD200 strobes are fantastic! When using multiple units, at one time Adorama sold a 6-bay charger that charges up to 6 batteries simultaneously AND allows you to individually stop charging any/all of them at 80%. That coupled with the MagMod accessories' abilities makes the AD200 an extremely functional powerhouse of strobes.
Thank you for that comment! I had no idea they sell that multiple-bay charger! Very good to have! I've broken about 5 of these already so I have a bunch of chargers lol! But that ability to stop it from charging above 80% is extremely helpful for the longevity of the batteries. I have that for the AA/AAA batteries. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a great bit of info!
I just reread what I wrote, I can see why you thought I meant the chargers lol what I meant was I broke a bunch of ad 200 units, so I have all the chargers that they came with
Nice one. I have 2 AD 200 pro's, and I'll check out the LED head. I also bought the AD-B2, in which you can combine 2 AD 200's and end up with a 400Ws light. Awesome. I love Godox / Flashpoint equipment. They are not too expensive but you get quality for your money... and all their systems are compatible. I've also 2 V860iii's... which are awesome speedlights. And all is controllable with the XT-2 controller (of which I also have 2). Alas, these 2 controllers do not communicate with each other, so altering settings on 1 forces you to make the same alterations on #2 manually. But hey, I can live with that.
That's an awesome set up Frank! I wonder if the XPro transmitter works better together? I know they just came out with the new Xnano too (tiny touch screen one). I wonder if those two link up to one another somehow. Something to look into perhaps. Thank you for watching!
Best explanation of use and power of ad200pro! If in wide angle shots use bare and don't mess with quality of shadows or just add second to fill shadow with 1-2 stop less power. If close up just put softbox on the frame edge! Will buy another 2 ad200pro in addition to my one) also outdoor if no wind we can use translucent umbrella. Cheap and light and compact setup.
Love it, super insightful! And Love all the magmod attachments you talked about! I need to swoop one already! I think I'm go for the Flashpoint eVOLV 200 since I guess is the same unit just branded for Adorama. Stoked you making more videos !
Thank you Francisco! And yeah I did forget to mention that since I couldn’t find a straightforward answer but flashpoint allegedly comes with a warranty since it’s from adorama and it’s the same thing. Hit me up when you get it and we can vlog and do a tutorial 🙌🙌

Thank you for watching Martin! Can I get your thoughts on the AD300? I have the 400 because I figured if I was going big, I might as well get a ton of power out of it. How does the the 300 compare to the 200, however?
@@TNKPhoto The ad300 is still in its testing phase. I have taken it out a few times but for right now, I have only been testing it with the OEM reflector. Ad200 is the best for huge events because it’s so versatile with accessories. I have 3 Ad200 and 2 Ad100. For some reason I don’t really trust ad100 unless I have another flash with me like a V1
Absolutely! We have a shooter who swears by the ad100 but to me, for the same price, getting twice the power with a slightly bigger size (trade-off), is still a better option. For small flashes I just use my speedlights as off camera options. When I broke one of my AD200s I was using it for a few shoots for back lights since they don't really require as much power. Thank you for watching Chris!

I'm a little confused between the AD200 or AD600. I do studio work but I also wanted to do it outdoors and I always use softbox. I know the 600 will be heavier, but won't it be worth it anymore? The difference in prices and in a recent promo would be 70USD. What advice do you have?
Great question Sergio! I was gonna say instead of getting one AD600 I would just get 2 AD200s for the same price in case you need more power outside, and that way you always have a secondary flash if you wanna add a back flash. However, now I'm coming with a question lol. Where are you finding a 600 for 70 more than the 200? Cause I may jump on that too lol I would honestly say if you always use a softbox, go with the 600, because the 200 won't be enough generally speaking. Outdoors in less than ideal situations (right before sunset), the 200 will probably struggle
There are many options out there. The MagMod MagBox is a nice option, really well built and easy to break down. However it’s a little more pricey. The other options are the umbrella style soft boxes. You can find them on Amazon for a very affordable price. Hope that helps 🙌

The big difference between AD200 and AD100 is not the amount of power or the size/weight. The big difference is that you can attach the bare bulb with >180° and so use studio modifiers in full effect, and you even have a mount on the barebulb configuration to safely attach light modifiers. The AD100 can only shine forward, which completely modifies the effect for example a reflector or a beauty dish can have.

I’m not familiar with the canon ecosystem but I can’t see why it wouldn’t. You’d set your remote to hss and the ad200 would then be in hss mode. On Sony it automatically lets you go past 1/250 after you do that setting on the remote
@@vmaxbaby maaaaaan Canon really likes to play themselves. I feel like if they were more inclusive with other brands, people wouldn’t jump ship. One of my friends left Canon just because Tamron can’t make the 35-150 for Canon and it’s such a versatile lens for weddings
@@TNKPhoto.. Im Dominican Born in NYC... lol i did date a Salvadorian Girl... Sweetheart. nice Family... Now i live in Shanghai, China since Nov 2008 but i visit any change i get. lol
The only downside in my experience with the AD200 is that you can drop it or let the light stand fall over (the godox speedlights can take this abuse). The electronics in the unit are just too fragile. There unit bumpers available that offer really good protection, but as a general rule, it just pays to think about how you setting up your flash, and doing practical things to look after the unit. That aside, it is one of the best photography tools designed since I've been doing photography. Period. Price, versatility, longevity...it wins in all areas. And it services so many different photographers with its modular design. The only tool that comes close is the 70-200 lens. It would be interesting to know how many units Godox have sold worldwide since its release.
Oh man that would be a hell of a statistic. They've gotten about 5-6 orders from me for the 200 lol. For the same exact reason that you said. I had two fall over once and break at the same time. Ever since then, this is the first thing I tell people to buy after getting an AD200: ruclips.net/video/fnwOQ8ao9e4/видео.html
Thank you very much for watching! You know what, I don't have personal experience with it but I'm sure it's great. It IS a bit bigger than the 200, definitely not close to an on-camera flash size so I think that's what deterred me. I figured if I'm using something that's gonna be big and cumbersome, I might as well get the 400/600 and get massive power. I've owned the 600 and now I have the 400 and they really are on another level. I'll be posting a video about it next week if you'd like to check that one out
andrew is correct, youtube rob hall and shawn kemple ad100 vs ad200: ad100 wins. ad100 more power than ad200 with round head during light testing. portability, round accessories/magnetic, zoom function, and cheaper - ad100 is not 299, its 249. middle of the day ad100 is fine, check the video tests. ad100 also uses v1 batteries. ad100 lcd brighter, more than 500 shots at less than full power (ad200 maxes at 500), and has a cooling fan. recycle time 1.5 ad100 vs 2.1 ad200.

Does this do HSS when using a canon R5 or R6 ?
I’m not familiar with the canon ecosystem but I can’t see why it wouldn’t. You’d set your remote to hss and the ad200 would then be in hss mode. On Sony it automatically lets you go past 1/250 after you do that setting on the remote
Sadly canon made changes for the R5/R6 and most if not all non branded canon flashes don't allow TTL and HS.
Cono??? lol You are Latino... What Country...
First Time... to your video/Channel.. but.. I am a Fan... Just Subbed...

Ever since then, this is the first thing I tell people to buy after getting an AD200:

Whats your thoughts ad300 vs the ad 200?
Thank you very much for watching! You know what, I don't have personal experience with it but I'm sure it's great. It IS a bit bigger than the 200, definitely not close to an on-camera flash size so I think that's what deterred me. I figured if I'm using something that's gonna be big and cumbersome, I might as well get the 400/600 and get massive power. I've owned the 600 and now I have the 400 and they really are on another level. I'll be posting a video about it next week if you'd like to check that one out
I think it has the best ecosystem around him also
Completely agree. Once you’re in the Godox ecosystem, everything is very intuitive with one another 🙌

It fluctuates between 250-300 so if you’re not in a rush, save it and buy it when they lower to 250 and save a few bucks
Greta Thunberg wanted me to tell you “how dare you!” For talk in’ trash on the lil ad100 Pro! 😅 Another awesome video 👏👏👏
😂 😂 hey you still collected a bag with the 100 so you stay winning Andrew 😎😎
@@TNKPhoto Think about it - using little ad100’s allows more room in my Pelican case to collect 💰💰. It’s science.
@@corderophotos1442 Speaking facts right there lol
andrew is correct, youtube rob hall and shawn kemple ad100 vs ad200: ad100 wins. ad100 more power than ad200 with round head during light testing. portability, round accessories/magnetic, zoom function, and cheaper - ad100 is not 299, its 249. middle of the day ad100 is fine, check the video tests. ad100 also uses v1 batteries. ad100 lcd brighter, more than 500 shots at less than full power (ad200 maxes at 500), and has a cooling fan. recycle time 1.5 ad100 vs 2.1 ad200.
You know what, I’m always open to being wrong. I love learning so I might take you up on testing this out. I’ll see if Andrew can let me borrow the 100 so I can do a proper test and do a review on it. Thank you so much for watching and for Giving me your insight as well
i dont think youre wrong; its just that ad100 fits a lot of peoples needs. but we respect you and thank you for your video. please do the in depth comparison and testing.
Best? There is no "best"
Best would be subjective so whatever you think is best is the best for you. For our workflow, we find this to be the best but hey that’s the beautiful thing about having choices 😎
