The Pilot are common to throw multiple misfire codes…do you know the common problems? Started to show engine light after changing scheduled spark plugs. I cancelled the engine light thru OBD and disconnect the battery. Any suggestions.
Wow great job, clearly not so handy is a lie. 😆👍 I need to do the valves on my 07. I’ll just be an assistant for my friend who knows how. I’m afraid. LOL
Great job!!!! I know that's a lot of work but I cant wait to see the engine run smooth. I have an 03 honda pilot with the check engine light on, and I think it's because I put gas in it without turning the engine off. I am wondering if anyone knows if it's going to reset on its own?
On the misfies, see if you can get a live OBD scanner that will show you the misfire count in realtime. I use a Foxwell NT530 that does bidirectional communication and real time data. You will be able to see when and how often you are getting a misfire. I have not found an app/bluetooth based scanner that would show the full realtime data and bidirectional control/communications like the Foxwell.
Condition looks pretty rough man. I'm a car guy and I love 1st gen Pilots, but honestly with as rough as it looks and the mileage too, it's really useless to try to fix with how awful that engine sounds...best used as a woods beater. I commend you on trying to fix it though. Some things just can't be fixed.
Yes! But a couple things of changed. I was going to scrap it, but I I’m going to do some fun things with it. But I will put out part three as soon as the new CV axle comes in
Thanks for the comments Scott! As of right now I have two other videos out, where I start to I actually do work on the pilot. I did change the EGR valve and it didn’t help much. But I’m in the process of fixing a few other issues and so far it’s running a lot better!
You so peed yourself lol rotfl glad to see the valve adjustment did something, cause I had a misfire on cylinder 5, and did valve job and 3 exhaust valves were to tight and both exhaust valves on cylinder 5 were to tight, seems like great progress
Totally peed myself. Didn’t like those pants anyway 😂 And yeah, I guess that’s pretty common with these engines. But it’s on the way to running better!
You need to replace timing belt, timing belt tensioner, and water pump if they were not done at 100k and 200k miles. Serious engine damage possible. Use an Aisin kit purchased from auto parts store or reputable online auto parts supplier (not Amazon and Ebay where there are many fakes sold)
Fuel filter? The old one was looking more like a fuel filther 😂
Ooooooh that was a good one Ozark. Gonna write that down on a sticky note and stick it to my Mac.
They do sell replacement fuel strainers, I just changed mine out the other day
yay Ive been waiting for a update for your pilot!
🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 Heck yeah! I have some more updates coming.
When will part 3 come out
Probably another week or so!

Yas my pilot has 284,000 miles now
I just bought a 99 corolla with 288,000 miles on it for 1500. Thoughts?
If it’s in great shape and you like it, then congrats!
I have a 2003 Honda Pilot and have been having problems with it and was wondering if you could give me some answers or some help?
I can certainly try! I mean, at this point I’m just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks, you know?
Love the pilot vids!
🙏🏼 thank you! I’ll keep em coming

is part 3 gonna come out?
7:29 our mdx started up like that after sitting for months

Tbh man I’m so excited I didn’t majorly screw anything up 😂😂 (yet).
You can do it dude! Lmk if you have any questions, I can try to help.

I fill up without turning engine off all time
Timing belt?

are you workign on part III
Yes! But a couple things of changed. I was going to scrap it, but I I’m going to do some fun things with it. But I will put out part three as soon as the new CV axle comes in
@@NotSoHandyCarGuy and i wouldnt want you to scrap it it would be fun seeing the thing with like 300,000 miles and running like new
I agree that’d be really cool. But it’s going to take a lot of time and money. You’ll see see in the vid!
Fix the intake leak and the exhaust leak. The exhaust leak is seriously messing up the air flow which is causing ECU to use default/rough parameters.
Did your ever replace the EGR valve? A stuck open one (due to carbon) will make it stall and rough idle
Thanks for the comments Scott! As of right now I have two other videos out, where I start to I actually do work on the pilot. I did change the EGR valve and it didn’t help much. But I’m in the process of fixing a few other issues and so far it’s running a lot better!

8:00 woah the mileage
Change ATF like 4 times if it was a neglected vehicle.
Also, the radiator probably has a hairline crack in the plastic header section. Known design issue at 150k miles. Will be a slow coolant leak.
Will you sell it once you fix it? I can’t believe you’re so mechanically inclined.
I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it yet Torrey! I might use it as a beach rig, or enter in the gambler 500 🤷🏼♂️

Also - vtm-4 will not operate with most/any check engine codes set. Fix those before working on vtm4
help me fix my Honda 2003 (cries) lol
Cheap toyota vs reliable honda. I say both the toyata and the honda have good support on both sides
👍
