All these years of experience and this man just freely gives all these tips and tricks. Love the community you built Scotty. I personally never take my car to mechanics because I'd rather do it myself and make sure it gets done right and I don't get ripped off. You're the only mechanic that I'd trust to work on my car though that's for sure! I hope when I'm your age one day that I will have the knowledge and energy to teach others like you do. I look forward to the 2-3 videos of great content I get a day from ya. Hope life is and stays well for you for a long time :)

I think mechanics I've met by word of mouth are generally honest, but sometimes they drop the ball (or the parts!). Now I just do everything myself except state inspections.
What Scotty does is outstanding, esp. this video. My engine is a year newer so that'll be the next time bomb to go on that K engine.

Do you have any problems with the brake rotors warping frequently? I recall this being a problem since it was new at about 25,000 miles. Recently I changed the rotors and pads - 10,000 miles later the jumping when I brake is ridiculous. It’s really the only annoying problem I have with the car.

I was losing a quart of oil almost every week and thought I blew a headgasket. I changed filters, had a timing belt job done and other various work but the oil burning persisted. It came down to paying attention to the oil pressure sender switch on the top of the engine block. I ignored it and it was the problem. $20 part and I was back in business. Now my oil is steady when I check the dipstick even after long drives.

Happened to my son's car it kept eating oil and making a metal on metal sound even when the oil was good. Took it to the dealer and they acted like they didn't know what was up.
