I bought the exact same lift about a year ago from CAEL in Hamilton Ontario Canada. It's fantastic lift for the price. I recently converted my '71 Challenger from auto to manual trans using this lift - it was perfect for the job because of the open center design. I wish I'd bought one years ago.
Thanks for your video. I gave it a like but I gotta say that your electrical work is a concern. If you don’t want to run conduit to contain the yellow Romex, then at least use metal clad wiring so the insulation has some protection on that open wall. Secondly, your plug wiring doesn’t have any strain relief. This means the cord weight is pulling on those individual insulators all the time (gravity never sleeps), so eventually you could have an internal connection failure. Thanks again for sharing this.
I'm glad I ran into this video cause I was about to order the quick jack lift jack. Also it's good to see good reviews. I'm still browsing for other jacks cause I have a C7 ZR1 vette. Thanks for the video! By the way, I just went to the website to check out the jack and price went up to $2,700...I was hoping to buy it under $2k
I love the "Soul Destroying" reference! Laughed a little back here in Sydney, Aust and can relate. Not every workshop has to have the latest 3 Pack Poly Urethane flooring, NASA developed lighting, air purifiers, rubber floor tiling, piped music, etc.............
I have a basically identical unit here in the UK and have to use assistance ramps like yours for every car I own - if I don't, the cars that can get on the ramp without grounding tend to shove the whole lift forward in the garage rather than climb the ramps.. also don't forget that to come down it has to go up slightly to disengage the locking pawl, so don't stop too close to the garage door opener! (I only narrowly avoided that mistake once 🤣) It is a great piece of kit .. I'd still love to be able to have a 2-post lift, though!
@@DeadEndRestorations all that included it is still a *great* lift for small garages. It's nice to see someone with a "normal" (for the UK!) sized garage rather than the giant 100' x 100' caves everyone south of your border seems to have, as well ;) We seem to have similar interests in financially ruinous old BMWs so now I'm off to watch more of your videos!
I looked at these but they get in the way of everything under the car. The advantage of a side post is it's all open under the car. Ya it'll lift too high for low ceilings but you just need to be aware of the or install a limiter switch.
The height seems nice, but once you put the car on it it seems like it’s a weird in between. Too high for a roller, too low to stand under it. Like you I have a small one car garage and the quick jack has been perfect for me.
Cool lift. i'm also having a smaller garage with limited space, and would like to know how you handle jobs that requires access on the sides. Would a 2 post lift be better or would the poles introduce other issues? How have the lift worked out for you during the year.. still satisfied?
You can add extra height in your garage by changing the angle of the same garage door tracks and use the same angle for the garage door opener. You just might have to tighten the spring a bit more. You'll thank me later. I did my garage already year ago
Absolutely, that's my plan but I have an attic with storage above so need to rebuild that to get extra clearance. Eventually I will sink the lift into the concrete to make it flush. Thanks for the tips!!
Chamberlain makes garage door openers that work off the shaft (jackshaft) the garage doors main coil spring is attached to. Getting rid of that track type door opener will gain you some clearance between the roof of the car and ceiling.
I have to tell you that those little helpers practically did the job for you. On a serious note, be careful letting the measuring tape run back like it did at 1:17. I did that once and ended up with a nasty cut.
I just got my Quickjack 7000tl. I have 9ft ceilings and 7.5ft garage door up. The QJ max lift maxes out possibly lift height in my garage. Plus they are easy to move for a temporary paint booth which is important for restoring cars.
Will this work in outdoors? Can it withstand water, snow for exampe? All I have is a yard and no lift yet, but im finding that i will definitely need it soon, because crawling under a car in snow is not a good option. Im planning unbolting transmissions and engines, why are you calling this the worst case scenarios? Is it hard to do this with such lift?
Very nice! But...A car that has the full set of underbody panels.... I don't think I would be able to remove the panels with those wide lift sections under the car. I have a 997 and pretty sure it won't work. My Quickjacks work well, but don't' go as high of course. Thanks for the video! -Tom.
There's me getting annoyed when I got the measuring tape and fixing 11' .. 9' would bring tears. But yes.. we must make do. I'm currently slowly modifying my garage into my own set up. I have experience with these lifts. I really really want a 2 post. But with full height. My walls are 8' but most of all 2 post are 9' 4" .. so without mods I'd only get in a scissor lift. My intention is to install and with them being 50+ cm flat height.. I'm going to run concrete runs in line with the ramp. Then bolt down studs, lay insulation and ply/flooring on top. Then if planned correctly no cold feet etc, the ramp comes up out of the smooth floor. Less trip hazards etc. but yes, these things are game changers. The main reason I don't want a scissor is the likes of rear axle work. Lack of access for removal etc. but front end is fine. 2 post just means nothing is impossible.
all good points and I agree - eventually I plan on cutting into the concrete and laying this down flush with the ground. Still, better than crawling around and using a pump jack and 15 minutes to raise/lower the car each time! Good luck with your project, cheers
Nice video, I have I think the very same chinese lift, just different sticker :D Lack of space and the ability to regularly park the car over the lift is also the reason why I chose mine - even though it was more expensive than a 2 post lift.
It has been a year since you purchased this item; could you or any of your readers here, share if they experienced any issue in performance with this product? I am planning to gift one to my Dad and I don't want my old man to feel any disappointment.
Hello. Great video (thanks). I have a question about this life (unable to get a reply from the vendor). Before making a big purchase like this, I need to ask: What type of hydraulic cylinders are used on this lift? They will inevitably go bad (they always do). I would like to know pre-purchase what type they are and their general availability. I would like to know ID, OD, capacity and stroke length. Thank you.
I have the same type of lift I sunk my one into the floor leaves you with a level floor and not having to step across the lift and no need for extra ramps
What about those small rectangular imprints of bottom support showing up on both top black bases/benches (4:11 to 4:32)? Does it mean these base stations ( black benches) are made of thin plates? Please explain.
great video! curious, when the freight truck came to your home to delivery the heavy items, did you have to pay for liftgate service, and did they drop it off on the curbside or on your driveway? Or, did they help you lift it into your garage? Any insight would be helpful, as that is my only hesitation to purchase heavy equipment. I have a sloping driveway into the garage and not sure how to handle the last 25 feet of maneuvering, even if I rented a pallet jack from the hardware store. Any insights are greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
Truck had a lowering ramp and the driver used a pallet jack and the two of us barely pulled it up the driveway and into the garage. My driveway is a slight incline but nothing major and it was very difficult. You better call some strong friends over the day it gets delivered :)
This lift looks excellent for my situation but it is setup to be a semi-permanent fixture. That concerns me because in the winter it will get a bunch salty, grimey snow dumped all around it and on it which I can’t imagine will be good for it. Would be great if it was easy to move it out of the way when not in use.
Its definitely washable as the whole thing is painted and sealed. My long term plan is to cut out a small trench in the concrete and mount it flush to the floor so that driving in/out is a breeze. Thanks for commenting and watching!
Have you used this lift much since you installed it, and did you find that new power point location to be poor planning near the centre of the vehicles side? I'd imagine the controller should be forward of the vehicle to allow more free space around the lift.
I use the lift all the time! I've done a ton of serious work on my M3 using the lift, as well as on my daily tesla model 3 (brakes, tire changes etc). Ideally yes at the front of the garage would have worked but I don't have the space so had to fit it on the sides. thanks for watching!
I have a super small garage like yourself. Impressed you managed to have a solid scissor jack like this. Just to clarify these don't need to get bolted down?
Hey there, its been over a year since this was posted. Is this thing still holding up? Curious to know if any welds knocked loose on the locking pawls making it come down uneven.
I noticed you had a plank across your lift to reach the lifting points, you feel that was safe? I have a narrow sub frame on my Nova as well but decided to lift on the pinch welds did considered using something across as well not sure wood is my first choice!
Hey buddy. Loved the video. Very clear and concise. I am sold and hope to get this same product in the future. My current barriers are, I don’t have a garage 😂 and two, I don’t have a 220 outlet. So the plan is to get those two things first and then I will pick up one of these lifts. I also mainly work on aircooled VWs that don’t have frames and use a floor pan design, but this should still work fine. I’m excited about getting one and it would take my hobby to a whole nother level😆 pun intended.
I have the same issue with not access to 220 unless I rewire my garage's panel which is a big job in and of itself being as my garage is not attached. Still trying to justify the expense too, but man I want one.
Hi friend, question for you. Have you found any vehicles that were not able to work due to the drive over platforms being the jack points? Reason I ask is because I have a big range of vehicles by size (tiny bmw z4, c6 corvette, several hummers, and a humvee). My concern is that I will find a limitation with where the platforms don't reach the jacking points on the vehicles. I am debating between this lift and a similar midrise that uses adjustable arms to pivot around to the lift points of the vehicles but Ive love to hear if you came across any vehicles personally that didn't work. My widest vehicle (humvee) is 84" wide. From what I see online, these tracks around about 75" wide so driving over them with the humvee may be difficult. Cheers!
I haven't had this issue, but a Humvee is massively wide and this lift will be too small for it to reach the jacking points. The midrise that uses the arms to reach the jack points is limited because the entire middle underside of the vehicle cannot be reached whereas this leaves a big wide hole in the middle for doing exhaust, transmission, driveshaft work etc. Cheers!
@@DeadEndRestorations true true, thanks so much for the input. I am pretty certain I determined which lift I will be getting. I found a nice Tuxedo 2 post locally at a vendor that will also deliver and install for me. I think long term with the uniqueness of the wide humvee, it will serve me better but hoping someday to add a scissor lift in another bay for other cars. Cheers!
@@RonnieThompson-n2u never an issue, just if you have a wide vehicle like a humvee, then a 2 post will work better. I am prepping my garage for a 2 post to be installed next month. tp9kacx is the model I landed on. Cheers!
@beurownboss1554 I've been looking at these lifts too; I've found on Atlas equipments site there's an extension kit you can buy for the larger vehicles if using these style hoists. Worth a look anyways
Hi, two questions! First, thanks for posting the video. First question - do you feel secure under the lift without the addition of a low height screw jack? I would hate to be crushed by my own car. Yes, I know that all these lock in place - but I would feel more secure if I had additional braces to support the main weight of the vehicle - for most cars - the front end of the car. How do you know where the center of gravity or balance is; apart from just using the factory pinch welds? We can assume lifting by the manufacturer specified lift locations is the correct approach? My second question is about the logistics of the lift, and how to maneuver it onto the garage. I understand this is not a portable solution. Most of these have a pivot point at the far end and a bar with wheels to drag it along. I've also read that they weigh about 1500-2000 pounds. Lets say you move, and would like to transport the lift onto a trailer and take it to your new home. How would you begin to do that? Thanks!
great questions! to be honest i do very feel safe, I have since bolted the base into the concrete garage floor with heavy duty anchors and its rock solid. I have thought about sticking a pair of jack stands in between the arms that go up/down and you can/could as an added safety measure. I decided against it because knowing myself, I would forget they were there and lower the lift and possibly cause more damage/injury in the process! As far as moving it around, it weighs around 500-600 pounds and with the wheels its easily moved on a relatively flat surface. I used a combination of dollies/floor jack to maneuver the box into my garage and unbox it. It was definitely a bit tricky without any sort of crane but doable even on my own without any help (from adults at least). Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
Thank you for your reply! Much appreciated! It's a very nice lift, have you ever thought about cutting the concrete in order to recess the lift into the ground? That way, you wouldn't need to use the extra wooden ramps. @@DeadEndRestorations
Hi, I just bought one of these after seeing your video, but I can’t get it to work. The machine came with a wire that I had to wire to a plug and there was only two wires, red and blue. No ground! Is your 110V? The manual they sent with the machine has the wiring diagram for a 220v motor. Just wondering if you could shed some light on this
I'm a little confused about lift points. It appears it doesn't lift by the pinch weld area but by pads located elsewhere. How do you know if this will work on your car?
You can move the pads around to place them on the right support structure for your car, I put mine on the pinch welds or you can place it on a frame/jacking point as well
With mine I have to raise the lift and there's two flat points on the rear bar that are raised enough to slide the wheels onto. When you lower the lift it will rest of the wheels for easy movement. Cheers
It will drain out the oil, so not recommended on a regular basis. Plus its super super heavy so tilting without cables/machinery is not really possible. Cheers!
crazy and probably stupid idea, but what if you integrated a two post lift INTO the wall. You wont have posts taking up your precious, just need to make sure the arms are beefy/long enough which they are usually over built. No idea if this is actually feasible but just thought id run the thought past you
@@DeadEndRestorations yeah I'm not sure, my thought was kinda making it structural and part of the wall and roof in a way that makes it tied in and out of the way but still functional, and possibly making the feet/arms able to tuck into the wall when not in use so they don't take up space. I honestly don't know a lot about lifts but now I think I'ma start researching and see if this might be feasible and try to do it in my own garage lol
This was a bunch of trial and error buying couplings from Lowes/Home Depot but eventually I made it work. Best to take the one from the lift with you to the hardware store and test them out. Good luck!
@@DeadEndRestorations hi there one more question please , how did you connect the air line to a compressor? We live in Toronto and went to Canadian tire and princess auto but didnt find a fitment to the one sent with the machine from China... Cheers
I got a QuickJack a year ago and have been generally satisfied with it. Looked at scissor lift when I was comparing it and thought the space in the middle was very limited. But seeing your scissor lift it looks like there's a decent amount of space in-between. Do you feel the ramps are a bit too wide? Or maybe it's just the camera angle.
The ramps are a good width, if anything they're a bit narrow on the outside width for newer/more sporty vehicles. The space in between is wide enough that I should be able to drop my E90 M3 exhaust (next video I'm working on) Cheers!
That is a nice lft. Wonder if the company will offer other ramps to address what was for me the biggest (yet still not a deal breaker) con. Maybe you have a metal worker buddy that could fab you either a replacement set or a type of cover/sleeve that'll lay on top to cut down on the approach. Just found your channel today and thoroughly enjoyed your e34 journey. Best of luck with the e90 and future projects; I'll be watching. //Subscribed//.
Awesome thanks! The other option is cut the concrete and set it below ground to sit flush with the garage floor - that might be my longer term solution 👌

Folks, i am looking at this lift from CAEL. Any concerns/pros/cons since you’ve had this lift? How about dealing with CAEL?

Thanks for your video. I gave it a like but I gotta say that your electrical work is a concern. If you don’t want to run conduit to contain the yellow Romex, then at least use metal clad wiring so the insulation has some protection on that open wall. Secondly, your plug wiring doesn’t have any strain relief. This means the cord weight is pulling on those individual insulators all the time (gravity never sleeps), so eventually you could have an internal connection failure.
Thanks again for sharing this.
Thanks for the tips!
Romex is not temperature rated for use in conduit. he would need to use THHN or THWN for use in conduit.

I think long term with the uniqueness of the wide humvee, it will serve me better but hoping someday to add a scissor lift in another bay for other cars. Cheers!
Did you resolve your issues
@@RonnieThompson-n2u never an issue, just if you have a wide vehicle like a humvee, then a 2 post will work better. I am prepping my garage for a 2 post to be installed next month. tp9kacx is the model I landed on. Cheers!
@beurownboss1554 I've been looking at these lifts too; I've found on Atlas equipments site there's an extension kit you can buy for the larger vehicles if using these style hoists. Worth a look anyways
Thank you for the well done vid. Very informative.
@@DeadEndRestorations
very nice. It's a shame the wheel platform is so wide. That would be life changing for my garage maintenance. E36 M3 wants attention.
the platform isn't that wide at all, the E34 fits just right on it and an E36 likely would as well!
How was the delivery? Did the bring it to your garage entry?
Hi, I just bought one of these after seeing your video, but I can’t get it to work. The machine came with a wire that I had to wire to a plug and there was only two wires, red and blue. No ground! Is your 110V? The manual they sent with the machine has the wiring diagram for a 220v motor. Just wondering if you could shed some light on this
Hey, yes mine has two wires and is a 110v model. Sorry can't be of much more help!
Hey would you know how to remove the wheels on the lift? It seems like theres no easy way to remove the lift wheels once you move it!
to mount/remove them the lift needs to be up as it rotates the pipe that the wheels attach to. Cheers!
How did you get out of your car when you drove in with that pump in the way?
It clears the driver's door no problem
Understood. You cannot keep all of them.
How much does it cost to runa 20A plug? Is there converter as a solution?
It cost about $100 in labour and another $100 in parts
Thank you very much for the idea. I am looking to do a similar setup.
I'm a little confused about lift points. It appears it doesn't lift by the pinch weld area but by pads located elsewhere. How do you know if this will work on your car?
You can move the pads around to place them on the right support structure for your car, I put mine on the pinch welds or you can place it on a frame/jacking point as well
I have a mr8 lift can’t figure out we’re to put the 2 wheels
With mine I have to raise the lift and there's two flat points on the rear bar that are raised enough to slide the wheels onto. When you lower the lift it will rest of the wheels for easy movement. Cheers
Does it have safety locks? I didn’t hear any when you were raising it
yes of course, one should never buy a lift without locks!
is it 20 amp 110 volt
yes
Do you have a link for how to purchase this in the USA?
Reach out to Capital Auto Equipment in Canada they may have affiliates or warehouses in the US. Cheers
Is there any kind of locking mechanism for possible lift failure?
Yes there are about 5-6 locking steps at different heights
Do they ship to US?
great question, I think they do but best check it out with them directly. Cheers
Where did you buy it from?
How easy is it to disconnect the lift from the pump assembly? I would want to basically tilt it on its side when not in use.
It will drain out the oil, so not recommended on a regular basis. Plus its super super heavy so tilting without cables/machinery is not really possible. Cheers!
@@DeadEndRestorationsthank you!
crazy and probably stupid idea, but what if you integrated a two post lift INTO the wall. You wont have posts taking up your precious, just need to make sure the arms are beefy/long enough which they are usually over built. No idea if this is actually feasible but just thought id run the thought past you
love the creativity! I guess I would need to build the chains/locks/steps into the wall somehow??
@@DeadEndRestorations yeah I'm not sure, my thought was kinda making it structural and part of the wall and roof in a way that makes it tied in and out of the way but still functional, and possibly making the feet/arms able to tuck into the wall when not in use so they don't take up space. I honestly don't know a lot about lifts but now I think I'ma start researching and see if this might be feasible and try to do it in my own garage lol
Can you tell me how you connected the air line and the connectors used. Thank you
This was a bunch of trial and error buying couplings from Lowes/Home Depot but eventually I made it work. Best to take the one from the lift with you to the hardware store and test them out. Good luck!
is this lift still available with the same price?
should be as far as I know...
Hey there did you have to hook up an air compressor on the lift to work?
Cheers
Yes I did have to
@@DeadEndRestorations thanks ✌
@@DeadEndRestorations hi there one more question please , how did you connect the air line to a compressor? We live in Toronto and went to Canadian tire and princess auto but didnt find a fitment to the one sent with the machine from China...
Cheers
What lift is this and where can i find it? Thanks!
capital auto equipment. thanks!
this is so cool. Have you come across any lifts that can be plugged in into a regular outlet (not 20 amps)?
thanks! No they all need more than usual 12amps unfortunately
Is that 20amps at 120 volts? I Australia we run 10 amps on a 240 volt circuit, so we might be OK.
And the answer to my question is further down. This is 20 amps at 110 volts. An Australian power plug should handle it OK.
What model of lift is it and where did you get it for that price? Thx.
Capital Auto Equipment, this is the link:

Congratulations on getting a lift.
Is there any lock in that prevents the lift from dropping if there is a hydraulic failure?
Absolutely, theres 5 different locking positions from top to bottom, you always rest it on the locking stops prior to going under the car. Cheers
this product can be use in car wash ?
Should be OK as far as I can tell
I got a QuickJack a year ago and have been generally satisfied with it. Looked at scissor lift when I was comparing it and thought the space in the middle was very limited. But seeing your scissor lift it looks like there's a decent amount of space in-between. Do you feel the ramps are a bit too wide? Or maybe it's just the camera angle.
The ramps are a good width, if anything they're a bit narrow on the outside width for newer/more sporty vehicles. The space in between is wide enough that I should be able to drop my E90 M3 exhaust (next video I'm working on)
Cheers!
I am not a car guy, but that is pretty sweet.
Great video and lift! I'm subscribing BC I live in Burlington 😆
Thanks for the sub!
I badly need one of these ..
Drawbacks aside that’s actually a really good deal for what it is
Agreed!
Thank you for the recommendation! Are there some German viewers who can recommend something similar available in Germany? (And where to buy it?)
These should be part of every home by law
I really want to say he is really a good boy!
Where in Canada did you purchase this lift? Thanks in advance!👍🇨🇦
Capital Auto Equipment, there's a place in Hamilton and one in BC somewhere I believe. Cheers
@@DeadEndRestorations Thanks for the quick reply, I live in Woodstock Ontario Canada, I’ll check out Hamilton for sure, thanks again.
Nice man! 👍
Garash????, have I been saying it wrong my whole life, Garage!
😭😢😭😢😭.....how could you let that beautiful e34 go! Could you video it on the move before you hand over the keys so that we can see and hear how she looks and sounds in all her glory traversing down the road? 😎👍
Yes i will, not to worry 🥲
2,700 yw
Wow its now $2600USD. No thank you
C'mon ~3000$ !! after taxes. Helluva cost when a typ lift is only 1/3 rd $ More
Agreed, but hence my title for 'small garages' because a 2 post is too wide, and a 4 post eats up all the floorspace in my tiny ass garage! Cheers
Well, shoot wish i woulda saw this before buying mine. Oh well, i will run the crap out of it, despite its flaws.
WHY do you feel the need to tell us how many CENTIMETERS wide it is. We us English units in the USA.
Canadians stuck with the metric system, sorry! Google translate cm to inch :)
made in china...???
Love the "white power" symbolism!! ROFL!! jk
