George sang that song so beautifully. No one can take another country singers song and sing it like George jones..he's the king of real country music. 2022 and I'm listening to all the legends 🙌
Lol there’s always one gotta dislike a great video. Maybe he was just a huge Conway fan idk but I’m also a huge Conway and George fan and both did a phenomenal job and props to George for a fitting tribute to Conway. Both are legends and will be missed.
Yup I cried too when I saw/heard him sing this beautiful song on television that night...had never heard of this song before, got the CD :), thanks so much for posting Geert VL :)
I remember watching this live, too - so exciting for George Jones to be singing - and of all things, the biggest song of Conway Twitty's career (he had just died a few days earlier, if I recall). So, so many emotions all over the place. George and Conway were very good friends - I saw them in concert years before in Southern California (George was the opening act, because he liked to get home early). I was lucky to get to meet George and take photos backstage.
Hello Darlin' Nice to see you It's been a long time You're just as lovely As you used to be How's your new love Are you happy Hope your doin' fine Just to know it Means so much to me What's that Darlin' How am I doin' Guess I'm doin' alright Except I cant sleep And I cry all night 'til dawn What I'm trying to say is I love you and I miss you And I'm so sorry That I did you wrong Look up Darlin' Let me kiss you Just for old time sake Let me hold you In my arms one more time Thank you Darlin' May God bless you And may each step you take Bring you closer To the things you seem to find Goodbye Darlin' Gotta go now Gotta try to find a way To lose these memories Of a love so warm and true And if you should ever find it In your heart to forgive me Come back Darlin' I'll be waitin' for you Goodbye Darlin'...
Conway Twitty had died not long before this award show took place. George's performance of Conway's hit was a tribute and goodbye. I imagine beyond June and Naomi Judd, there was not a dry eye in the house at the end.
@denniscross3430 it was the CMA Awards night but as George had just released this on his new album, and the fact Conway had just passed, this performance from George turned into a tribute to Conway.

It makes me cry seeing him bring Country greats to tears. Sob😢
There will never be another George Jones. He was one a kind and in my opinion the best. Still listening to him daily.

Hello Darlin'
Nice to see you
It's been a long time
You're just as lovely
As you used to be
How's your new love
Are you happy
Hope your doin' fine
Just to know it
Means so much to me
What's that Darlin'
How am I doin'
Guess I'm doin' alright
Except I cant sleep
And I cry all night 'til dawn
What I'm trying to say is
I love you and I miss you
And I'm so sorry
That I did you wrong
Look up Darlin'
Let me kiss you
Just for old time sake
Let me hold you
In my arms one more time
Thank you Darlin'
May God bless you
And may each step you take
Bring you closer
To the things you seem to find
Goodbye Darlin'
Gotta go now
Gotta try to find a way
To lose these memories
Of a love so warm and true
And if you should ever find it
In your heart to forgive me
Come back Darlin'
I'll be waitin' for you
Goodbye Darlin'...
Conway had died in June, so this was a fitting tribute to his friend
The reason everyone in the audience is crying is because it was just days after Conway Twitty’s tragic death.
Few months after
Thanks for sharing that
They're crying because it was the greatest tribute ever in country music. By the greatest Country artist ever.
Wow does it better than Conway but does every song better than anybody the greatest ever rip jones
Conway Twitty passed 28 years ago today (June 5).

Dance for all
Anyone know why June carter cried while watching this

@@orbison thanks for the answer I could listen to him all day long
The legends where all close as friends. They made real country music together ❤
It was Conway Twittys memorial service and Johnny and June were good friends with Conway and also George was singing that'll being the emotions out.
@denniscross3430 it was the CMA Awards night but as George had just released this on his new album, and the fact Conway had just passed, this performance from George turned into a tribute to Conway.
All the women crying, won't see that happen much nowadays, they got no heart...
