My #PoemADay is "Choices" The smart choice is the one to make But the easy choices are the ones we take Then when it's to late it was a mistake The Hard Choices Consider for God Sake!
Been an Alcoholic most of my life, plenty of times I’ve cried to George’s voice. When you can relate to the music it speaks to the soul. If I had any twin who was a damn singer and song writer, it was George Jones. I was a train headed downhill with no brakes, and I still struggle with the pain of regret and addiction. RIP George, your voice still lives on.
Ta heck with these other dudes tryna make a comparison or tryna compare him to other artists. I agree with you, George Jones r.i.p was and still is the greatest voice in country music
My grandfather passed away about five years ago, and George Jones was his favorite country artist. It's hard to explain, but every time I listen to him, I get so emotional and it takes me back to great times with my grandfather. Man I would do anything to have him back and for us to be able to listen to Jones one more time together.
To me, this is the best country song ever written cause it represents the life I chose with drugs and drinking and now I am paying for those mistakes. I used to listen to this song in my darkest hour and now I stand in the Light. Things are much better now thanks to God, Jesus, and the Spirit. All glory be to the Trinity but thank you George for the piece of your heart you left with us.
hydrolic1 Amen brother! May Christ give you all the riches of His glory and all knowledge and spiritual understanding of His will for the glory of God!
The greatest showman and singer. The epitome of country music. I think everyone can rested to this song no matter what they have done or not in their life. Unlike some, George Jones acknowledged the demons that he had endured all of his life, and tried to fight the wrongs. We all have vices. Whether it's drinking, smoking, cussing, gambling, gluttony, etc. No one is perfect on this Earth. George Jones sang a lot of songs that touched peoples lives over the years, but this one is a masterpiece.
Have a vague memory of someone (details escape me) basically he said once George got into his "Vocal Gymnastics" everyone was just blown away (they were his contemporary Stars just singing with him)
I heard of this song shortly before typing this, when I learned that Alan Jackson sang his own hit "Pop a Top" then abruptly switched to singing this song. Once he finished, rather than bask in the applause, he got off the stage & into his bus as fast as he could. George & Nancy Jones, watching the show from their home, were delighted to see Alan stand up for him that way.
Yes this is aka john. ETP ELIJAH and jesus said he would be with us until the end of the age or world. Also he said I will CLOTHE you with them all ornaments as a bride.. But listen 2 watch everyone you LOVE disappear most to the flames. It's not easy but it must be done evil has to stop..
I love that he started with, Pop A Top. Great way to- once again- publicly thank and acknowledge Alan Jackson. Both men were/are the best in country music.
I was literally weeping at his funeral. Such a big part of my childhood and my grandma's favorite singer. She still has several records of his from years ago. Man, thankfully we'll always have his music to remember him. The sad part is that I was never able to take my grandma to a concert, I was looking to do it during his farewell tour but that never happened. RIP George.
Hahaha Alan stood up for George, when cma told him he couldn't sing his whole song, Alan as a message too cma song some of George's song... that's why George said that to Alan in the beginning.
Alan Jackson gave the bird to the suits, and wasn't a damned thing they could do. He was their biggest cash cow, and he said, " You don't treat a legend like that " .

We don’t realize when we’re young , how the choices we made then, will weigh so heavily on our minds when we’re older. As long as there's one George Jones fan left, he'll live forever. He'll be gone when all the lives that he's touched fade away, and that'll be a long time coming.
Jones is the greatest country western singer the world has ever know. I was addicted and dependent on alcohol by the time I was 18. I drank everyday up until about 10 years ago. The only reason I quit is because heroin and bnboose got too expensive together, and I had to pick one. Quitting booze was easy compared to that shit. I loved George Jones, when I heard he had passed away, I cried for three days. I grew up listening to his music in the sixties. No one else had the sadness in their voice that he did!
God bless you George for keeping the "Country" in country music. They need to cast your shoes in bronze because no one will ever be able to fill them. We miss you terribly sir.

I put him right up there with Hank Williams Sr,...well almost. lol Guess I just love C & W music. Rest in peace George, you were special, and this was perhaps your best song !.
+Joe Furlong Did you, perchance, listen to WHN? I've lived in West Virginia all my life, but lived for trips to NYC to hear WHN. WHN and George Jones, two country legends.
+Joe Furlong Having lived in West Virginia, I could get WHN only sporadically, and then very faintly, as 1050 in New York is very directional. One of their jocks Bob "The Wizard" Wayne was from Farmington, West Virginia, about 8 miles up the road from where I live, and in my home county. He died in 1990. I also talked to Lee Arnold, Del DeMontreux, and many others on the request line.
My parents got the album that had this song on it for my friend Matthew Christmas of 1999. We were dating at the time. Of all the guys I've dated before he was the only one I kept a real strong friendship with. We were there for each other in good times & bad. Our friendship is like brother & sister. I called him Hermono which is Spanish for brother and he called me Hermonita which is Spanish for little Sister. He went on to be with the Lord April 20th 2014 Easter Sunday. I miss him Dearly.

There is no one ever going to fill your shoes George and there never will be. So glad I got to see you once in a concert. I will sadly miss you but rejoice that it isn't the end. You have been a real legend.

+Gary Kerns Hey Gary you bring back some old memories. I sure did listen to WHN, a lot.
I love this man ; he fought off all the demons in his life was a help of his wife. And he prevailed. God bless him and rest in peace, George.
Best musicbever.there will never be singer's that can live up to Loretta Lynn,Conway,or George Jones.

Broken hearted after George love you forever just crying my favourite singer.
Thank you God for allowing me the privilege of seeing George Jones in concert. I only wish my dad would have been around to see it with me.
I miss him Dearly.
very sorry for your loss. he is among the angels
Hoossain Juman Thank you so much. I really appreciate that very much so sweet. God bless you Brother!!

I fwwl like I'm very old now my hero of fifty years has passed Just as so many others that made country music what it was. I was thrilled to hear that he was going to be with my Lord. There is no one ever going to fill your shoes George and there never will be. So glad I got to see you once in a concert. I will sadly miss you but rejoice that it isn't the end.
