I know the pain firsthand of loving someone so very, very deeply that I couldnt be with because of alcohol. I know he loved me and I still love him and always will. He’s been gone 15 years and not a day goes by that I dont think of him and wish he was still here. It was so sad to see Tammy and George cry for the love they still had for each other.
I don't remember the year but Tammy was giving a concert close to Lou. Ky. A number of us went to see her, and her and George hadn't been divorced too long. Tammy had just recently married the piano player in her band. After she had sang about six songs when out from behind the state curtain came George Jones, you could tell Tammy's expression was like all those in the audience she was as surprised as everybody else was. George took Tammy's hand and they sang about six or seven songs together, George just bowed and left. What a great thrill it was to see and hear Tammy and George singing together. It was a wonderful night, one I'll always remember. Seeing the two Icons and Legends of Country music performing together was totally unexpected and what a super night it turned out to be. .
One of my favorite quotes from Tammy is _"Jones is my hero and he always will be. We might not be able to be together but he can still make me smile and cry with his music."_
She was wiping his spit off of her face... Living with an alcoholic myself for many years, ((thank God he sobered up)) when they have been drinking, especially if they are a little tipsy, and George was 90 percent of the time, they have a tendency to spit when they talk.. LOL...
The Chemistry just oozes out of these two... Anyone who has been down the divorce road probably gets this... You can feel the intensity as they wipe away the tears.
Ita amazing to see the love and chemistry they had even 2 years after the divorce. They didnt split up because they didnt love each other, it was his drinking that drive her away. I think they were soul mates.

Not everyone knows this kind of love and pain. I don't necessarily recommend it, yet some are fated to it. If you know it, you know it. And you know you know it; although you cannot properly describe it to others who haven't known it themselves. Therefore, it is a lonesome sorrow, hard to comfort. Regardless, it changes you forever.
