@Luis Dennis I'm here because a friend sent me this song, and it made me F*cry💔 i don't know that much about country music, but after i liked ur comment, i decided to listen to all his songs, and there are more beautiful songs, but this one touched my h❤️rt and s💫ul deeply✨💫✨ much l💞ve
I’m GenX, and I grew up, listening to this old country because my Dad loved it. I always loved the newer country when I was in college, but now that I’m in midlife, I revert back to all of the “old country“ because it reminds me of my Dad. This is a great song, and it has always made me cry. No matter how many times I’ve heard it in my lifetime, I feel the heartache to my core.❤
I met Mr Jones in New Orleans in the 80's this man was a true gentleman. He walking by me in a bar he was leaving I said I love your music Mr Jones he stopped and spoke with me for almost 30 minutes. Pure class I felt like I had ran into a old friend i hadn't seen in years.
There are So many that There Will Never Be Another One of .. . George Jones is Likely My All Time Favorite C&W Singer .. . And This is My Song I Shall One Day Stop Loving Her .. . My Avatar which I Have been Married to for 45+ Years !! ! Connie My Love !! !
My brothers couldn’t understand why l loved this song so much. They thought a young black man couldn’t possibly love this type of music. I love all genres of music - especially pop and country! “He Stopped Loving Her Today” is perhaps one of the greatest country songs of all time. I can now understand why it was ‘Country Music’s Song Of The Year’ two years running: 1980 and 1981! It’s a classic!!!! Rest in Peace 🕊️ Possum - George Jones…
Me and 3 friends played this song everytime we would drink some beer at a mom and pop joint at least 3 times a week , we would sing along and would get a standing ovation everytime from everyone there , good times in the early 80s
I vividly remember when I was about 16 years old my late father suddenly yelling for me to come into the living room. He said son come quick and listen. This, he said is probably the greatest country song of all time. I stood and listened to George Jones sing He Stopped Loving her Today on TV. (before the internet and when TV only had 12 or so channels) And as a ACDC, Motley Crue loving teen I was taken aback and absolutely floored. Thank you Dad and thank you George for forever turning me onto REAL country music.
And why being hispanic have anything to do with liking or not liking country music? I have music sung in different languages and don't give them any thought about their original language; music is music and a good song is a good song, regardless.
This was truly my Dad's song...when my Mother left him I was 5... when I was grown he told me he thought he would lose his mind when she left...he didn't but he never married again and lived alone until he passed away at 70. . Makes me cry every time.

Hello beautiful 👋🌹, how are you doing?....I’m sorry for Invading your privacy, i was passing through some profile then I saw you and stop to say hi…I hope you don’t mind.
He was an alcoholic. Probably depressed most of his life but some of the best art in all its forms are made by people who've experienced pain and hardships in their lives.
My late dad introduced me to good country music back in the early 80s when I was a child. This was the first George Jones song he let me listen to. Even at 5 years old, it hooked me and i've been a fan of The Possum ever since. I was fortunate enough to see him perform at the Oil Palace in Tyler,Texas here before he passed. His music always reminds me of much better times, those good times with my family and my late best friend watching Hee Haw on TV, and especially singing along with my dad in that old white 1971 Chevrolet truck. I wouldn't trade those times for anything.
no one in the world , and each time George did it live it was always slightly different, but always Amazing , i gave up doin it because George has it to a level no one will ever reach
This was voted the greatest country song ever written/ recorded in a worldwide vote , it got twice as many votes as the second placed song, and well deserved .
When my Grandfather passed away from black lung working in the Labrador mines this casset tape was left in his car tape player. Last thing he listened to I guess. Its been decades now. He was a hard man. An nforgiving man. Worked till the end. Cant believe how much I'm like him. RIP
Patrick Lucas Sadly today’s “country music” is corrupt with thick southern accents and autotune. It’s too bad that there’s no more like George on the radio.
l agree with you, indeed George Jones is a great and talented artist who's songs never goes out of style,he's one of my favorites artist, he's songs still and always heals the Soul, I pray God gives you lot of beautiful days.

Great music I was blessed to listen to when I was younger, doing my chores singing along to George Jones, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn etc all the greatest of all time ❤️
Legend has it took many attempts in the studio to get George to nail this song down because he was drunk all the time. When he finally got it the way the producer wanted it, George said something like, there you go you got that morbid sounding son of a bitch. It not only became his biggest hit, it defined him. RIP the Possum!
The great thing is he sings it slightly different every time he does it , he changes the phrasing like no one else can........But George did that with nearly every song.
George Jones was a trainwreck of a man but possibly the greatest country artist of his time. I listened in tears as a child and still listen in tears as a senior citizen. This music was a bridge between my father and I. Dad hated Black Sabbath and I hated Buck Owens but we came together on this song. R.I.P Dad and R.I.P. George.

Lyrics:
He said "I'll love you till I die", she told him "You'll forget in time"
As the years went slowly by, she still preyed upon his mind
He kept her picture on his wall, went half-crazy now and then
He still loved her through it all, hoping she'd come back again
Kept some letters by his bed dated nineteen sixty-two
He had underlined in red every single "I love you"
I went to see him just today, oh but I didn't see no tears
All dressed up to go away, first time I'd seen him smile in years
He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today
You know, she came to see him one last time
Aww, 'n' we all wondered if she would
And it kept runnin' through my mind "this time he's over her for good"
He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today

No country singer past, present or future will ever sound better than George. No auto tune, no lip syncing. Real artist. The 🐐!
Country music died with Garth Brookes... what they have called country ever since the early 1990s ain't been worth a shit.
You are right. Country music is not what it use to be
George is timeless. I met him in a very trying time in both our lives. Hillcrest . GOD IS REAL.
