My beautiful Mother was a drummer she did Hank,CCR, Patsy Cline and others but Hank was her favorite. She raised 6 children Had a spotless home, was a wonderful cook and lived to be 83. Every Hank song reminds us of Mom but this song is the one that is felt so deep in the heart . Shortly after she passed this song, no kidding came on the radio. My jaw hit the floor... NO WAY I haven't heard it for decades. I havent stopped crying Im both sad and happy because I know Mom requested this song so I would know she's still here. We miss you Mom you go Honky Tonkin until we see you again. I'm still carrying my jaw around..... Thanks Hank for what you gave to Mom. You left us too soon...... Love you Mom

Hey Big Guy, Would you tell me anything about your country's conflict? I'm 62 year's old and I can't make head's nor tails out of it especially with our country's talking head's bought and paid for by the ones we dare not talk about....
My uncle Willie was KIA in Germany in 1945 shortly before WWII ended, he was 21 year's old....
And over the year's I've read that US General's serving in that war lamented that we/America may have been on the wrong side of that war....
I have concluded that most war's are some rich man's trick as they play both side's and collect the spoils.... Evil, satanic individuals with bloodlines traceable to the "falling ones".... Nephilim I understand....
And just my humble opinion and having little education in regards to history and most other subject matter....
And I apoligise as I know I'm light-years out of context here....
I saw Hank Williams Jr. In concert a couple time's in the eighties, he put on great shows albeit in one show he was quiet "juiced up" as was the rest of us...
Funny I may never forget him telling the audience and I quote he said "folk's you know I spent the first nine month's of my life trying to get out of the womb" and folk's I want you to know that since I was about 15 "I've spent the rest of my life trying to get back in there"....
He lamented all the silly-ass Hank Williams imitators out there -his words- and said "tonight you'll know the Real Hank Williams Jr. or something close to that....
I think my friend's and I would vote HWJ for president if given the chance, he'd probably take Vlad and some more world leaders fishing out on some big lake and end all the goophy war's via sheer comeraderie, trust and solidarity....
      Peace young Brother....❤❤❤

its conciseness of words filled w/ such density is the sign of a poet. absolutely nothing wasted & allows the listener to feel in blanks. I think frost when I hear this, but i get where you're going w/ van gogh... it is strong, but imo some american artist have reached the same type of heights. several of dylans & cash's best (who both were strongly influenced by hank) reach the same areas. ive often thought hendrix in wind cries mary also gets close to this. van morrison. or the doors, crystal ship..... one thing id assume we'd agree on, i hope more young people dig into hanks stuff. hes a great influence to listen to if one is trying to create quality.

Some other country singers such as George Jones and Hank Snow carried a lot of pain as well , but were fortunate to be healthier . There were other country singers such as Lefty Frizzle who were self destructive . The bluegrass singers Carter Stanley and Keith Whitley followed a similar path . The white blues singer/ guitar player / harmonica player , Alan " Blind Eye " Wilson of the blues band , Canned Heat , fit in a similar category .

I’ve never totally bought the explanation of his death and apparently Hank Jr doesn’t either. It was reported he was badly bruised as if he had been beaten. Hello David, I'm getting a bit stronger every day. I still have some that I can't believe he's gone. I'm trying to be positive but it's hard. They're having a celebration for Robert in December at a club that still hosts live bands. They've gotten the most popular radio DJ to host it. There are going to be 4 bands that Robert was in. Each one will be doing the music that they wrote and recorded. They are trying to get as many of the original members as possible to perform. In between each set they'll be showing videos of other projects he was involved in. He was with Mitch Ryder for 19 years while still pursuing his own music. He was considered one of the best lead guitarists to come out of Detroit. As I now have all of the memorabilia and photos, I've been going through 50 years of his life. I get sad but I realize he had an incredible life. More importantly he had fun. I'm glad I got to be with such an amazing man for 27 years. He was not only talented, but gifted. He played with Chuck Berry when he was 17. He went on to tour the world. He loved sharing his music with everyone, he taught guitar for many years. One of his students has gone on to reach the level of stardom that most musicians dream of. I'll be ok, thanks for asking.

    • @OneOfUsHere

@@marvintownsend9174 Thank You for asking. I'm going through hundreds of photos and memorabilia from a 50 year career. He didn't throw anything away but didn't file everything. I found dozens of videos and recordings. He was a far bigger " star " than I realized. We hooked up in the last half of his life. As I look through the items I realize how humble he was but he knew he was blessed with a gift. When Mitch Ryder would open for a huge band many of the musicians would steal a glance at the opening band. Mitch can still sing his butt off. He always had a talented backing band but Robert stood out. Inevitably he would be approached by the headliner's band and became friends with most. He would jam with many. I could list them but it would take too long. A couple you probably know are SRV, Fleetwood Mac, Steve Earle, Doyle Bramhall, Suzi Quatro, Kid Rock, Don Was, and on and on. I don't know why I'm telling you this. I guess it's because he didn't brag about it. I wish I could talk to him about some of his experiences. As fun as that all sounds it's not what I miss. I miss the man who was my best friend. I had the first birthday without him last month. In 2 days I'm facing the first Thanksgiving alone. I know Christmas will be rough as well. My life goes on for some reason. Maybe it's to share his memories with the people who attend the celebration of his life next month. I have to keep pushing ahead and organize the items I will share with his fans and friends. I just need to stop thinking about things like asking him if we need butter at the market. I'm half now and it's hard.

I remember when I was a teenager I thought country music was a goofy twangy joke. I'm turning 60 this year and I've finally realised how powerful Hank's music is - and that's not even in a historical context! There are so many lines that literally give me goose bumps! No deep metaphors, no flowery adjectives just emotional pow pow pow! It's a rare gift to be able to write so simply but so powerfully - sorry Hank, I truly feel remorse for my adolescent disregard!

So of coure, I had to Google and listen. Then I run on to you, who had a similar experience 4 days ago. I think Jesus is trying to tell us something. I was done home just after dark about an hour ago. And the moon was doing some very strange things. I was born just up the road from where Hank Williams was born in South Alabama. Hank Williams still has a big influence here. Interstate 65 that runs through Butler county was designated as the Hank Williams Lost Highway by the state of Alabama sometime back. I recently met a gentleman and his wife from Great Britain that were passing through here not too long ago heading up to Montgomery to visit Hank Williams grave. He told me that he grew up hearing Hank Williams music and his dad and his Grandfather were huge Hank Williams fans. Strange how a man that died at the age of 29, right at 70 years ago, still has such a huge fan base, with music that people can relate to, that was written mostly by himself. Hank left this world way too early. But, he left a mark that will NEVER be forgotten or go away.

He sounds too blue to fly
The midnight train is whining low
I'm so lonesome, I could cry
I've never seen a night so long
    And time goes crawling by
The moon just went behind the clouds
To hide its face and cry
Did you ever see a robin weep
    When leaves begin to die?
Like me, he's lost the will to live
I'm so lonesome, I could cry
The silence of a falling star
    Lights up a purple sky
And as I wonder where you are
I'm so lonesome, I could cry
    That's a good one
    It's a lonesome song, ain't it?
    Ain't that lonesome, woo

I honestly don't like new country music because this element of being real and true has gotten lost along the way somewhere. @LEE ZOLO...Right there with you , I understand. Ain't much but would like for you to know... from a cowboy to another. You will be alright, in time. Live for him live for yourself and forgive him. Don't ask why he did what he did. You'll just be like a dog chasing his tail in a circle. Right here , people care stranger or cowboy. Hope you don't go though it again like I did more then twice. Ride straight ahead...

Hank was not just a great singer. He was a great songwriter. Some of the things
that flowed from his hand to paper were truly heart wrenching and ached of life's
pains. Hank was a master at putting pain and heartbreak into a song and the fact
that he suffered through both helped his cause in making such great music. The fact
he could pour all that emotion into a less than 3 minute song is just amazing.

@James Logan A Teardrop on a Rose is probably my favorite. I really love the songs 6 More Miles to the Graveyard,
The Funeral,The Log Train,Alone and Forsaken, I love his big songs I really do but these songs that not many people
know or even got radio play really show Hanks angst and grit and in many ways his real artistry. I am sure people will
mention many more and without doubt they will be right on but you dig for his nuggets and that to me is where you'll
      find the real Hank Williams.

    • @32a34a
      @32a34a 2 года назад

@James Logan I am from Branford,Ct. I love music. I listen to it about 13 to 15 hours a day. I own about
2,000 cds. I must admit there are types of jazz that do put me to sleep but I do like most music. Today's
music is not something I am enamored with maybe because I was born in 66 or maybe I listened to the
greatest decade of music which was the 70s. Although if I am to be honest 65 to 75 might be the best decade.
Anyhoo I do love music and I listen to it all day especially during the day as there is garbage on tv so I listen to
music and I really do enjoy watching reactors as well. Especially Elizabeth Zharoff,Doug Helvering,Janet Tabaka,
Julia Nilon,Beth Roars, Lolli Wren and there are others that my brain can't think of at the moment. But in the end
sometimes it is just best to lay back and put on Pink Floyd and let Dave Gilmour take your soul to heaven.

@James Logan If its on the phone then I think I do which I do not use due to my eyes. My doctor won't let
me use it for anything even though I love playing games and sometimes the occasional Firefly episode or
whatever Comcast has. I just had my right eye fixed and on February 1st they will then fix my left eye so fun
times still ahead for this Irish cowboy. I am sadly stuck using a desktop which is fine because I have a sweet
new massive monitor but soon I'll be relegated to CDs for awhile. So much fun ahead for me. Happy Happy
      Joy Joy.

As a kid in Boulder Western Australia, I used to listen to his music over a radio station called 6KG.He was and still is my favourite country singer.Country blues really.
He like Elvis can be referred to just by one name. There is only one Hank, the rest are only related to him.Riding off his coat tails.

Honestly hank 3 though doesnt try to ride the coat tails the way Jr does. 3 seems to just do his own thing and enjoys making hos own music for the sake of genuinely liking to make and play music he just happens to be called hank. And 3 could have really milked his granddads name if he wanted considering how similar his voice sounds to his granddad

    Hear that lonesome whippoorwill
He sounds too blue to fly.
The midnight train is whining low
I'm so lonesome I could cry.
I've never seen a night so long
    When time goes crawling by.
The moon just went behind a cloud
To hide its face and cry.
Did you ever see a robin weep
    When leaves began to die?
That means he's lost the will to live
I'm so lonesome I could cry.
The silence of a falling star
    Lights up a purple sky.
And as I wonder where you are
I'm so lonesome I could cry.

I grew up as a child listening to my Dad playing Hank, Merle, Conway, Charley, Loretta, Patsy, Jim, Johnny, Jerry Lee, and many more on the record discs that Dad cherished and played on his old Masters Voice record player, going back to Hank Williams SNR, oh my I looked at his life singing career, now that I'm 64, I just can,t believe that he was 29 when he passed away, but yes he sang a lot of songs that he wrote about life,s ups and downs, but also happy cheery songs👍, and also the band that backed him up, were awesome, yes country music will always live on Love You Hank Williams SNR, and all the other Legendary Country Singers 👍🌟👍🌟👍🌟👍🌟👍🌟🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Angelo Medina Thanks for your literal and irrelevant comments. Art and comments on art are often and necessarily metaphorical and unbound to literal thinking, such as yours here. For a poor mortal with limited reasoning powers like mine, I perceive this song as eternal and perfect.

    • @angelomedi
      @angelomedi 10 лет назад

coyotesong necessarily? we are all poor mortals with limited reasoning powers! imagine if we all acknowledge that! is everything we perceive art? I really hope not! we need balance but we are unable to find it! so we remain locked in these fake illusions that even though make us feel ¨better¨ within ourselves and our surroundings its not real! I dont support that! I believe that f we dont have a critical faculty we dont have a real creative mind and thats when we never progress... but in the end this is my opinion! we will all die not knowing anything! so in the end maybe its better to never seek that truth since we could somehow agree we´ll never find it and we should settle with our fake and ¨moral¨ perceptions we deeply know will never manage to fulfil us completely but aghh (!)

My dad loved Hank Williams because he grew up in the country but I didn’t at the time because I thought black folk should just listen to Hip-Hop. I used to hate it when played his country records in the car when I wanted to listen to Lil Wayne Lmao. Now that I’m older I truly appreciate Hank and country music. Never understood Hank and his music until I went through certain experiences in life that changed me forever. All I can say is: Thanks Dad! RIP Hank❤❤❤

@ Mood! There were Certain musical Genres that I wasn’t ready for when I was a kid. I got into Heavy Metal when I was in college when I heard ‘At The Gates xx Slaughter of the Soul’ for the first time out of curiosity. Before that I was all about what was on the radio so country and rock to me back then was like Taylor Swift and Maroon 5 lmao. Old school Country music didn’t appeal to me until after I graduated college and I started traveling with a guitar. lol.
