- Didn't it rain children
Talk about rain oh my Lord
Didn't it fall didn't it fall
Didn't it fall my Lord didn't it rain
Didn't it rain children
Talk about rain oh my Lord
Didn't it fall didn't it fall
Didn't it fll my Lord didn't it rain
Oh it rained forty days
And it rained forty nights
There was no land no where in sight
God send the angel to spread the news
He haste his wings and away he flew
To the East to the West
To the North to the South
All day all night how it rained how it rained
Didn't it rain children
Talk about rain oh my Lord
Didn't it fall didn't it fall
Didn't it fall my Lord didn't it rain
Some at the window some at the door
Some said Noah can't you take a little more
No no said Noah no no my friends
The nature got to keep you can't get in
I told you I told you a long time ago
You wouldn't hear me you disobey me
Lord send the angel a warning to you
It began to rain and now you are through
Well it rained forty days
Forty nights without stopping
Noah was glad
When the rain stopped dropping
Knock at the window knock at the door
Come on brother Noah
Can't you take any more
No no my brothers you are full of sin
God has the key you can't get in
Would you listen how it rained
Didn't it rain children
Talk about rain oh my Lord
Didn't it fall didn't it fall
Didn't it fall my Lord didn't it rain
Didn't it rain children
Talk about rain oh my Lord
Didn't it fall didn't it fall
Didn't it fall my Lord didn't it rain
People don’t realize just how important and revolutionary this woman truly was. She was the first person ever to combine rock and roll with gospel, while also being one of the first to use guitar distortion. Even Eric Clapton took inspiration from her. This woman is incredible and up there with the very best.
That's what we need the Internet for. To make such masterpieces live for centuries
Let's keep this alive in 2024!!
There is nothing cooler on the face of the earth than a middle aged black lady playing electric guitar. It is the most glorious sight.
She should most definitely be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She should have been a inductee YEAR ONE. Can I have an AMEN?!!!
Reciting bible verses, playing electric guitar,in High heels!! Go head Sister!!👍👍👍
No stage. No fancy lights. No Green Room. No PR. A TRAIN effing STATION.
An unassuming distinguished lady walks on the stage in her Sunday best & picks up a Gibson SG and scorches it. Bravo! 👏
I’m embarrassed that I never heard of her before but I’m blessed to find this gem here today
RUclips is a magic place, trust me without youtube i would only know music from radio. RUclips deserves respect.
What a blessing to have this diamond pop up in my feed. I am grateful to be chosen.
It's a Gospel? It's a Blues? It's Superwoman Rosetta Tharp! Here comes the Rock N' Roll, Ho YEAH!
I was not expecting this classy lady to pull out an electric guitar. I’m glad I’m finally catching up on history.
I'll recognize the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame when they recognize Sister Tharpe.
This woman is amazing. What she doing at that period in time, and even now is revolutionary. Sister Rosetta needs to be recognized and her name should be recognized. I got introduced to her 1 minute ago. I'm a fan. God bless her.💖
Nobody with an intact soul could deny this woman was a gift to mankind. What a force of nature she was and her energy is still alive today in countless downstream currents and eddies
One of the most powerful and unrecognized musicians of all time. This woman was a powerhouse of talent. She was a musical force that many many people have never heard of. I love seeing her perform.
THIS is the stuff that makes YT awesome. Generations of her fans never got a chance to revisit this amazing woman’s live performance.
Sister Rosetta Tharpe was a very popular gospel artist and evangelist during the 1930's and 1940's playing a jazzy blues on an acoustic guitar. She was one of two gospel singers that recorded records for the troops during WW2. She was gifted one of the first electric guitars made to create the riffs and power chords that were copied by the early rock and roll artists. She fell into obscurity like the rest of the jazz artists when tastes in popular music changed. Her life history is interesting to read. Born in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to grow up in Chicago then performing at the clubs in Harlem while still performing gospel music.
Oh wow. Watching her in her Sunday coat and dress, jamming on that guitar and singing the Blues. Wow wow wow. Love it!
