Hey, there COULDN'T be rock and roll or any of the music that followed WITHOUT The Great Hank Williams.... Hank caused a revolution in "delivering" a song, "pumping" a song AT audiences and in doing so, became the first "Rock Star"...
Nine minutes and fourty six seconds of surpassingly brilliant entertainment by consummate artists . And what about the fabulous versatility of June Carter ? And Hank and his band are faultlessly superb ! The best live performance footage of artistry I've ever seen . Thanks so much for uploading .
Stars of the Grand Ole Opry were invited to appear on the Kate Smith Evening Hour on NBC 3 times 3 months in a row in 1952 March 26th, April 23rd and May 21st. The only act to perform on all 3 shows was the Carter Sisters and Mother Maybelle also known as the Carter Family. Hank Williams appeared on the March 26 and April 23rd shows. On the March 26th show he performed "Hey Good Lookin'" and on the April 23rd show he performed "Cold Cold Heart" and the duet with beautiful Anita Carter with the amazing voice!! "I Can't Help It If I'm Still In Love With You"
Stunning and thank God we have them for our enjoyment. Hiriiam certainly was the King of everything he wrote and sang. My all time favourite singer and songwriter.
Love that duet with 19 year old Anita Carter. Hank tried hard to get into her pants, but Mother Maybelle ran him off. A few years later there was this other guy after her, even proposed marriage, twice. his name was Elvis something or other.
I’m 80 and we would usually watch The Kate Smith Evening Hour however I don’t recall the episodes featuring the great Hank Williams. My parents bought our first TV around 1951, a Stromberg Carlson console with a 12” screen. The price was about $400 as I recall. Thanks very much for posting these Hank Williams performances!
I'll be 79 next month (Nov), we didn't get a TV till the summer of 1953, don't know what it cost. My parents liked the Kate Smith show, but I didn't. Give Red Skelton, Milton Berle, Sid Ceaser, Jack Benny.

😂 Good one 🙉 Putting down one of the most iconic & unique vocalist in western music history , who happens to be six feet under so i guess you win by default 🤠 But in all honesty , I firmly do believe we all have the right to have different tastes , so i kid. I am a musician , so I understand & respect Hanks artistry so very much. 🙏 But I do actually wonder who do you think is a great singer friend ?
Hello, you wouldn't happen to have the original files individually, would you? The excerpt of "Cold Cold Heart and I Can't Help It" is the cleanest version I've seen. I'd love to have a clean copy of it if you could supply me with one, thanks!
Hank had a Leash on the Guitar Solos he purposely made Them under play ‼️He did want them to distract from the poetry of his Lyrics ‼️And he was 100%DEAD ON ‼️‼️✌️💗
I always wondered....at 9:06 Hank sings "for straight is the gate and narrow's the way" Did he mix the lyrics up? seems to make more sense "Narrow's the gate and straight is the way"
This must have been shot on film. Does anyone know if these shows are available in high resolution transfers from the original film? This looks like a terrible transfer. Film would have looked much better in the early 2950s.
Dead at 29, Hank Williams accomplished more in his chosen profession than other singers who lived decades longer. The all time champ!
Yes I agree Hank Williams Sr wrote great songs was very wise.My dad John Parsons liked his music he passed away 2002,was66

fantastic... so great for the music history these few mins are available... very enjoyable
Hank - the original old soul.
He sure looks older than 28 or 29 in this clip. Life was already catching up with him.
Maybe but johnny cash was look's much older at the same age
In 1964 at age 32 he was like 40 of 45 years old man😅
I sang along and played guitar the whole video. I love this show!
You don't suppose he was the inspiration for Woody of Toy Story fame do you? Woody does bare a striking resemblence.
It's certainly possible! They do look a lot alike.
2-4-24, 😊music I can understand. But now why do so many singers have to sing with the microphone in their mouth? Hard to understand.
Hank Williams Sr. The one and only.❤
I met steel guitarist, Don Helms, on two different occasions. Wonderful person, as well as a great musician.
Wow awesome!
At age 85 I remember Kate Smith very well, why wasn't she in evidence here? Appreciate this recording very much. Thankee to the uploader.

Hank is clearly pretty lit up here. If he was this good when he was wasted, imagine how good he'd have been clear-headed!
June Carter right on the mic in "I Saw the Light" is awesome
