Hank Sr is Country Soul sung from the gut! That’s country people! Just like Merle, Waylon, Marty, Johnny, And especially Bob Wills! Thank you all. Good Night...
Anyone that likes country music should agree with me that Hank Sr. will always be the greatest writer and singer that will ever be on this earth..Glen H.
I am from Michigan. I probably sound like a dumb ass sometimes. lol That is how you hear him. It is what it is. I should have not said anything. Hence ...that is why I sound like a dumb ass at times. lol Sorry
YES!! I totally agree! Well, when Patsy first got to Nashville, she was asked, "Do you want to be another Kitty Wells?" She replied "HELL NO! I want to be another Hank Williams!"
Nearly 70 years after his death Hank still remains the best. No one has ever come close and I doubt anyone ever will. As great a performer as he was (and he remains country's greatest male vocalist), the real sadness is that his songwriting was stilled at 29. Considering that he probably wrote about half of the greatest country songs ever by that age, one can only dream about what could have come if he hadn't died so young.
Yes he did more with twenty nine years of living and a very short recording time than anyone else really has ever done in country music with their whole lives. You could argue for people like Merle haggard George strait and Johnny cash but I just feel like Hank Williams is in his own league and very few are even comparable to him

I was sitting in a cafe on Jan 1,1953 in Gary Indiana eating breakfast when the news came over the cafe radio that Hank had died. That was real heartbreaking news as I loved Hank as thousands of others did. Nashville was full of great singers and musicians then and Hank was the greatest. 40's,50's and into the 60's had the best men and women singers that ever lived. Great country music ended when we lost these. Wish I could go back and see and hear Hank Williams and Hank Snow and Hank Thompson and Ernest Tubb and Bill Monroe and Patsy Cline and and....

I grew up listening to Hank Sr., from my earliest memory. At 75, sure I’ll die with him echoing in my head and heart. He died at 29 but was always an old soul. R.I.P. and love, Hank.

Jerry Lee Lewis, who just passed, was a fine country singer. His first recording “Crazy Arms” was country. I like his country work better than his R&R.
Again Others were great but no one really rivals Hank Williams It took me some time to honestly realize that all of those hits (even today) came from one guy

How did I not know this even existed? I thought that Hank Williams videos were non existent. I guess there are a few. That sound will never replicated. At least, there are countless recordings.
Hank is the standard. I was a 50s teenager and dazzled by this man, Hit after hit came from him. Everyone should have grown up with this man. I was lucky.
most wonderful and best country music singer. no one will be hank williams, no one ever. handsome man, and a great legend. this si country music, unlike this trash to day thay call country music .
I recently turned 70. It only seems like yesterday that I hear the echo of my sweet Mother's voice singing her heart out to this tune. I was just a wee one. She was in her 103rd year when the angels took her 3 years ago. It comforts me to listen to all of Hank Williams classics.
I LOVE the slower pace to this live version. It gives the song even more emotion than the studio version has. Such a treat to see Hank perform. There is precious little video of him doing so.
I have never liked country music, but when I hear him sing it just melts me to my soul. His music was so beautiful. Very few country singers do this to me. Patsy Cline was another one. Two of the greatest that were gone too soon.
Real heart felt and Real Country Music. If you haven't lived the songs that you , wrote. You cant sing them. He lived every song he ever wrote. Rip Mr Hank Williams. Aka The Hillbilly Shakespeare.
"It's bought us quite a few beans and biscuits." Those were the late 40's-early 50's (my early childhood), Hank in "honky tonks" and on local TV. We're privileged to have these recordings.
I was introduced to country music while serving in the Marines. I would like to thank my brothers for this introduction, still listening 28 years later. What a great voice!
Not a particularly strong lover of country music..but I'm so happy to have discovered Hank. His music really transcends country...listen especially to Elvis Costello's version of this song!
Hank Williams’ lyrics are the tentpoles and pillars of every single word of lyrics ever written in the country genre in the 6 decades following his untimely passing. What you must understand is country music as we know it began here, with this man. The genre did not exist before he melded his prophetic prose together with old-timey blues & jazz of the 20s and 30s along with the music of Jimmie Rodgers. Hank Sr. is the Rosetta Stone of American music. He is more important to the American songbook than any singer that ever existed. The utter brilliance of his genius was in the masterful simplicity of his layered, complex lyrics, and the genius of his voice came from a lifetime of pain, loneliness and suffering which poured from his soul like the tablets down from Sinai to Moses himself.
Absolutely brilliant ... real country music, from the legendary Hank Williams Sr ... brings back wonderful memories of my youth. Thank you very much indeed.
As I'm listening to Hank Sr. I have chills running down my arms. What a Great Writer an Singer he was an is. Thank you Hank Sr. Up in Heaven lookin down on All of Us listening.❤

Hank Williams’ voice just sends the lyrics right into my soul. The love, the pain and hurt, just chilling. To me his female equal was Patsy Cline.
Greatest two voices in country music Hank and Patsy I totally agree
He got no equal but she was great

WOW!!! What a rare find indeed!! Thank you so much for posting this!!!
I grew up listening to this on a record album . It is touching to see him singing it on video . This is true country music .
Songs so simple and yet so clever, a story in a few minutes. Hank was a gift to music that is unlikely to be matched in these times
memorable lyrics like "the silence of a falling star, lights up the purple sky, as i wonder where you are, i'm so lonesome i could cry."
This man had pure talent. No fluff, just pure talent.
Great lyrics, great music, great delivery.
A True Legend.
Hank Williams Sr.
The father of county music
WOW that's awesome original Cold Cold Heart great performance 😮😮😮 watching from Philippines thumbs up ❤❤❤
The man didn't need fireworks exploding, JUMPING off speakers, flashing strobe lights, just plain raw talent.
There is something about the way Hank sings his songs that makes him unique.
"The more I learn to care for you, the more we drift apart." Probably one of the best lines ever in a song ❤️
Hello Emily how are you doing
Hank Williams shared his soul like Loretta Lynn, thru his life experiences. Both the very best of country.
most wonderful and best country music singer. no one will be hank williams, no one ever. handsome man, and a great legend. this si country music, unlike this trash to day thay call country music .
There is precious little video of him doing so.
. . . I adore his duet with Anita Carter, “I Can’t Help It if I’m Still in Love with You.”
Such a haunting voice. One of the best love songs ever written.
My parents had a lot of Hank Williams albums and often played them. When I hear a Hank Sr. song, I always think of my Mom & Dad. Love you. ❤
there will never be another Hank Willams friend's.

Memoir
He is the king of country
I’m 11 and yet I’m the only kid I know that likes old country musi and i couldn’t believe it
I was introduced to country music while serving in the Marines. I would like to thank my brothers for this introduction, still listening 28 years later. What a great voice!
Not a particularly strong lover of country music..but I'm so happy to have discovered Hank. His music really transcends country...listen especially to Elvis Costello's version of this song!
The greatest influence on country music. RIP Hank.
It's amazing how popular Hank still is because most of us weren't born when Hank died.
Hank Williams, the greatest country songwriter, and singer that ever lived they only come once in a lifetime
The King!!! Always good to see the few live performances that's on film.
Never heard more pain in someone's voice than when I heard Hank sing the songs he wrote. Raw and pure emotion! Brilliant songwriter!
