Looks good, I like that its really different from the EV 9 and not a copy and paste job of the SantaFe, looks like it has loads of space inside including the 3rd row with the usual Ioniq interior design, like the layout and ideas theynhave used on all 3 rows. I have one of the original Ioniq5's and it is interesting to see the amount of interior cross overs that have been used and evolved.
Ginny, you asked for anyone who loves the digital side-view cameras to let you know. I have them on my 2025 IONIQ 5 and they are excellent. They do take a little bit of getting used to, but after a week of owning the new car they are really excellent at night, way better than normal mirrors as you can adjust their brightness so that they are much clearer in poor weather and in the dark. The digital rear-view mirror is also much better than the conventional mirror. As for the IONIQ 9, I loved your review and can’t wait to see it in the metal when it arrives in the UK. I have dropped a strong hint with my dealer to get me an invite to their UK unveiling next year. As you will have gathered by now from my previous comments you have read out, I am a big fan of Hyundai and I think they’ve done it again. Can’t wait for your driving review of the IONIQ 9 in due course. Keep up the great work. By the way, tell Mike he will love the new IONIQ 5. Chris D
I have digital mirrors on my Ioniq 5... It must be said that there is nothing really wrong with ordinary mirrors that digital mirrors fix but ... They are absolutely brilliant in bad weather as they do got get wet impacting visibility, can't say they are better at night as headlights from cars behind still produce glare ... Took about two minutes to get used to them ... Would have no issues with them being on a future vehicle for me (similarly, wouldn't have any issues with normal mirrors either).
@@WheelieTheCapperHow's depth perception? I drove a car that had a digital rearview mirror fitted and I couldn't for the life of me tell how far a thing is... Maybe it's just me.

A really beautiful car. I'm 100% going to get one when the lease ends on my current car, Vauxhall mokka-e . I want one because of the space at the back for my two dogs, monty and Chester.
Not a fan of the rear end, the shape reminds me of a mid 2000s MPV in the worst way. Also the horizontal strips above the wheel arches look a bit bizarre and out of place imo. Definitely prefer the boxier styling of the EV9, to each their own I suppose.
Perfect timing, my Wrangler 4xe lease ends next year, I'll be getting this car for family trips. I was considering an R1S but after watching a video where most body shops were asking for 40k+ to fix the rear quarter panel turned me off instantly.
I guess as a society we have decided we don't care about risks to pedestrians and collisions with smaller vehicles. As long as you feel safer in your massive SUV, screw everyone else right?

Well, the US mindset is very self-centric. ''I want to feel safe so I have guns and I don't care if there are school shootings'', ''I don't go to the doctor so I'm not paying for other people's healthcare'', ''I'm comfy and safe in my huge SUV so I don't care if I kill your kid''
I hate that Hyundai reduced reduced rear glass area to have an irritating feeling as an aesthetic observer. It's a SUV. It must be boxy. The upward kinks in quarter panels irks me. Also the candy puller effect viewed from the rear is also ruining the SUV aura. You are moving a brick through an air, it is bound to drag more than the sedan, so at least keep it visually aesthetic, boxy like an SUV.
@@jamesengland7461it's a crossover SUV according to the wiki page. If it's shared with Kia EV9 then it's an SUV. The silhouette is of an SUV, not a van. Pacifica, Odyssey, Sienna are some examples of minivans.
With many rear view mirrors now having a rear view camera system, I often wonder why they don't use software to include side mirrors into a 180 surround view where the rear view camera is, perhaps with a distance indicator. Less clutter, one space to see everything from your left 180 degrees around the back to your right.
I like the less intrusive digital side mirrors. The last gen digital side (on ioniq 5/6) mirrors were as large as regular mirrors... didn't make any sense.
I suspect that the only reason why car manufacturers are introducing camera wing mirrors on EVs is to reduce the drag coefficient and thereby improve the official WLTP ranges of their cars. I doubt if many people actually buy them. It's the same with the weird door handles that this and other cars have - tiny improvements in the aerodynamics but they introduce a load of complexity and cost, and more things to go wrong when the car is older.
I had a lot of trouble with the audio volume. Maybe my headset is dying, but you went from whispering to shouting. I hope to find the car acceptable in size, the EV9 is just too big, but this looks like it might be OK.
I’m a big fan of the Ioniq 5 but the rest of the range including this one, not so much. The weird spat effect over the wheel arches, the upward kink in the rear quarter window, the unimaginative rear end design, that looks like a Volvo designer has had an early finish on a Friday. Not great. The interior is much better and looks plush. Overall I’m leaning more towards Kia. Not sure where Ginny was going with the seat recline section? I thought the censors might need to step in for a moment😂
In Australia, there are a lot of big cars. Family cars tend to be large SUV/4WD variants - Nissan Patrols and Toyota Landcruisers, Mitsubishi Pajero is a mid-sized car. There are still many thousands of these that are over 25 years old. Do you think this Ionic 9 will compete with the LC300 and the Ti Patrol?
Certain angles make it look like a Volvo Estate. Must say EV9 is more striking to look at. This is the Hyundaiand certainly has a lot of nice additions to justify it's price.
A great review thank you. This would only be useful in my family if it towed about 2 tonnes and did full off road a la full fat Range Rover. 0-60 or 30-70 does not matter but the ability to crawl at low speed over rough track would matter. If I simply want to take passengers around in comfort rather work the vehicle, so sort of bus would be better.
If you are going to have digital mirrors then at least integrate them seamlessly into the dash design ( Honda E ) . They look like an aftermarket accessory
Nice video! Huuuuge car but great for large families. As soon as I saw the rear of the car I immediately thought Volvo V90. The old ones that used to do touring cars. Not a bad thing.🤣
Looks ok till you look at the Volvo copy and paste rear view. Limited market in the Uk for this one as is the ev9. Ioniq 6 may have been car of the year but it’s a rare site on Uk roads. May get some converts from Range Rover owners after the Ved increases next April.
Looks like a nice car but I wont be trading my EV9 for this I dont think .... My family love the EV9 6 Seat we have and this doesnt offer anything new for us
Not keen on the looks overall and particularly details like the weird wheel arch 'things' - EV9 wins by a huge margin in that respect. Rear is a Volvo estate from the 90s - Shame as I really like the Ioniq 5 & 6 styling
Digital mirrors do not work for me as I wear bifocals. The images is always a tad too near or far, basically blurry. Can't beat a good old fashioned mirror that had depth and the view alters with head movement.

I wonder what it's pedestrian safety rating looking at the front as you stand in front of it, should it hit a person as the driver has turned off all the beeping they won't be injured they will be finished off that could even include a cyclist not as bad as the RAM trucks mind you but still not great. Don't look like real physical buttons but haptic buttons to me near the HVAC controls. Perhaps a lower spec will have real mirrors or they digital ones will be optional. You talked about interior features but didn't show anything or put any info on screen particularly charging and luggage volumes, guess I'll see what other reviewers from other outlets do with it.
