      That's exactly what it is; its the same deal with cars being made to look like SUVs. Technically, most SUVs on the road are just cars with a raised roof, but the market is generally shouting, "we want to sit up higher but still somehow squeeze out 30mpg AND we want the ride to be super soft and compliant and also anything over $30k is TOO expensive." For all the annoying parts of the car market, auto manufacturers are doing a good job staying on top of customer demands. What that means for the actual direction of the industry, well... that's up to interpretation.

    24:45 I think that would have to mean V2G/V2H. All of their E-GMP cars already have 15A V2L (with an adapter). Basically, this means the Ioniq 9 can power your home automatically with the proper equipment in the event of a power outage by simply being plugged into the charger, whereas with my Ioniq 5 I have to plug in a separate adapter and run extension cords to whatever I want to supply.

    The issue with the EV millage ratings is they are misleading.
    Sure, it can get 300+ miles on paper, but how many miles does it get with 6 passengers, with luggage in 40°F - 0°F temperatures in mixed city/highway driving.

    • @MarshMellow-sh1ol
      @MarshMellow-sh1ol Месяц назад

      For real it will not do a 100 mile in high speed these vehicles is for the city stop and go doing less than 30 miles an hour

    • @Saddex
      @Saddex Месяц назад +2

      For the RWD version, EPA range is estimated 335 miles.
      I would guess something around 250-270 for mixed driving in the conditions you describe for that one, probably around 250 for an AWD version. At higher temps, the RWD version would probably be able to do its 335 miles in mixed driving easily.
      EPA range tends to be quite accurate unless you go on pure highway driving. Though some EVs have still been able to get quite close to their EPA rating at highway speeds, especially GM's Ultium vehicles.

    • @Saddex
      @Saddex Месяц назад +2

      @@MarshMellow-sh1ol there is not a single serious test out there where an EV rated for 300+ miles EPA won't be able to do even 100 miles at highway speeds. At worst it will be in the lower 200s, but more realistically between 230-260.
