I'm just 10 min into the review, and I have to write a comment. This review is so much better than some reviews on channels with way more followers. You guys are fantastic, thanks Jordan in that case. Out of spec for the win !
It's great to see a review not done by Mr. Conner yet again. Jordan, you are by far the best content deliverer of the bunch and the perfect person to review this car!
This was a tremendous, tremendous early review!! Thank you so much for running around and giving overviews of both the US and the Korean models. Will be interested to see what the final production looks like once they hit the streets (e.g. NACS port).
Keep an eye on Hyundai/KIA, they're pushing hard on their EV transition. I predict within 5 years they will have more EV models than any other company on the market and within 10, 15 years max, they will be EV only
Perfect timing, my Wrangler 4xe lease ends next year, I'll be getting this car for family trips. I was considering an R1S but after watching a video where most body shops were asking for 40k+ to fix the rear quarter panel turned me off instantly.
I love this design! Only bummer is that the display is small because it’s the same in the Ioniq 5 / new Kons EV. Really wished that for the big egmp cars Kia EV9/Ioniq9 they would have bigger screens
Doubt it, only Rivian has wised up so far and said they were moving it. But, V4 pedestals make this less of an issue. So it may not matter as much in the future.
@@fiehlsport That will help.. in 10 years. They should have built the charging port for the existing MASSIVE network that is not going to be changed. So you will need an extension cable to use any V3 station.. or take up two parking spots.
Absolutely beautiful vehicle, haven't made the switch to total EV. I have owned hyundai since 2007. I currently have the Santa Fe calligraphy hybrid, which I totally love. But I would give this one a thorough look when my lease is up. Great review !!
Great review, Jordan! It’s dumb that this car is supposed to be delivered in the next 6 months and they can’t even let you look at a car that can stay “on” for more than 90 seconds at a time.
I would hope the 7 and 8 will be an suv and sedan. Ioniq 8 would be a larger sedan than the 6, like in the realm of an electric Grandeur. Then the 7 would slot between the 5 and 9, and be a two row. Then maybe an Ioniq 4 can get a smaller sedan like Elantra. Therefore, even numbers are sedans and odd are SUVs.
I have the Ioniq 6 and I honestly don't like this design. It's like they couldn't decide if they wanted to copy the I5 or I6 so they just mashed them together. I actually like the looks of the EV9 better but I learned my lesson with dealing with Kia. Guess I'll have to keep waiting for a better looking 3 row. I actually think the ID. buzz did a better job making their cars stand out. Also one more thing I don't like about this vs the I6 I have is on the I6 there's that gap inside the door that allows me to store plenty of items but they took that away on the I9 and also that storage in the middle of the I6 is a blessing.
As an EV9 owner, I wish I could’ve cross shopped both of these before making a decision. The EV9 has an absolutely useless center console bin, and the climate controls are ridiculous - two things the i9 has fixed. Looks like the seats might be softer in the i9 as well. They’re pretty flat and hard in our LLR. But it’s still been a great platform and family road tripper.
I personally would much rather pay for the add-ons that I personally want then have to have them bundled into a package that I’m forced to buy in order to get one that I want. I miss the days when cars were options instead of packages. If I want the item bad enough, I’m willing to pay for it.
Charging port is on the wrong side to use NACS easily.. Will need and extension cable, or park taking two spots at the Supercharger station.. Seems like an easily avoidable problem.
I am in theory willing to pay for stuff after purchase if it means the purchase price is lowered accordingly. I don't think that's actually what happens though.
11:50 I wished that the ambient lightning on the new Model 3 would have continued from the front door lowest point being the highest point on the rear door and falling continuesly. sadly, the front and rear ambient lightning is the same and it does not look that great from the outside.
I probably should not be disappointed this is a 2026 model so I assume can be acquired maybe mid 2025? Great that it comes out of GA from 'day 1". Hopefully $7,500 "rebate" will be still in force then, but I doubt it. Net, net - initially glad I did not do the EV9 - like I almost did - so the options remain open.
My guess is that it isn't as simple as just running the wires to the other side. EGMP was designed with it on the back right and my guess is that it will be staying there. It will also be less of a problem in the future since it doesn't matter with Tesla V4 stalls and other charging operators eventually adding NACS plugs.
A lot of companies are still doing that (Germans) for urban charging. If you are parking on a curb, then the charge point is on the curb and not sticking out in traffic.
@@symawdTrue, but it'll be several years before the V4 stalls are everywhere. There's still a ton of V2s around. I think most new sites will be V4 before they switch current locations over to V4. Therefore, it would be ideal for new cars to have the port in the left rear or right front.
@@jeffs6090 These cars aren't compatible with V2 and I honestly wouldn't want to use a V3 either since the charging speed will be reduced since they are capped at 500V.
Good size for our markets. Lucid Gravity will have it's work cut out for it. Lucid waited too long to get right size EVs in our market. Now Lucid does give you a real frunk. That is a miss for Kia/Hyundai. Hope to see more right size vehicles like this.
Brutally honest, I like the EV9 more in every aspect. Looks like a manly car. Sleek and business vibes, still good for family time. This Hyundai however, looks like a car for a designer, model, or any other dude/gal with pink hair. I mean, taste is unique to everyone but this gives me ‘Jaguar’ vibes, I mean their latest ‘Jaguar’ vibes. I do not like it, would never buy it, and would not watch any more video about it after thisone. Brutally honest & direct.
Currently not great since Superchargers top out around 500V and eGMP is "800V" architecture (though, IIRC, the EV9 sits in the 500s?). eGMP uses the rear motor inverter to boost the voltage which caps around 95kW, though I think I've seen that the upcoming refresh ups that to ~125kW. This won't be a problem once Tesla starts deploying their v4 Supercharger cabinets (not to be confused with the v4 dispensers that are being deployed now with v3.5 cabinets). Edit: 39:17 he talks about battery voltage. ~610V nominal for Ionic 9 and ~550V nominal for EV9. Then he says ~100kW on a Tesla Supercharger.
@@WarpedFlayme The facelift of the Ioniq 5 for North America supports a peak power of 135 kW on Superchargers. So there is no reason why this vehicle should be slower.
Tesla Supercharger will be better than the 2025 Ioniq 5 which has the improved 30 minutes 10-80% rear motor inverter, so should be just fine as that is what my 2023 Model Y Long Range AWD drive does, perfect to get a snack and hit the bathroom.

Too many pixels on this vehicle, especially on the rear end. It looks ugly IMO Putting antennas in the glass(front and back) is a costly decision... What would a cracked windshield now cost?
Agreed. Glass roofs are too hot (radiant heat) for me in North Carolina unless I have a built-in cover like my ICE car. My Ioniq6 has no glass roof (low trim SE)
Wow what an ugly looking vehicle. I guess it was designed by the same individual who designed the hideous looking SantaFe. Unfortunate, as the interior is very nice.

I like that they don't provide pricing on these initial views so all of the RUclips comments are not "a Model 3 is cheaper"
Exactly 👏🏽
I’m guessing $70k or more.
a model 3 should be cheaper anyway
Correction, it does 135kw on 400v now, which is a decent time savings

Appreciate your attention to the design, my eye doesn't pick up on the design cues until you point them out.
Love seeing your dog! The one ear white and one ear black is a nice feature.
Is NACS going to be on the back passenger?
It needs to be on the drivers side to use the vast majority of superchargers.

The only conceivable reason for the wheel arch eyebrows is that the designer likes the Mercedes 300SL Gullwing.
