Plenty of potential left in that truck! All in favour of resurrection, would make a good second video too! Thank you as always, great to go on a virtual car explore with you.
Bought a '57 Navara (92k) last year as a farm runaround - has been very good so far. Gets used several times a days - even does the odd long motorway journey. Interestingly I've had the same issue with the driver's door only opening from the outside. Found that the same locks have been used front and back and the child lock had slipped on. The lock can be accessed (without removing the door card) by removing the 3 bolts along the door edge and pivoting the lock until you can flick the child lock off with a screwdriver. A more permanent fix might be to put a self-tapper in there to stop it slipping again.
One of my favourite parts of this channel is that nothing seems to faze you in terms of buying certain cars which might have known faults, I.e Navaras snapping chassis, Jaguars snapping crank shafts, BMW’s and their timing chains. I could never buy any of the above cars for this reasons but I admire that you can and it doesn’t bother you at all - ultimately it’s a better outlook!
@@Mietas2 exactly just like the BMW timing chains it only affected less then 2% of cars but because it is so popular people think it’s common for chain to fail.
Er, chassis comment was said in fun, there are one or two Toyotas here when similar problem! But that was criticised, and yet my point of it going to Ukraine to me was the most important and not mentioned…
Hi Matt, really enjoying your videos recently, so you've gained another sub! One little tip: When viewing a car, I always lift the bonnet and check the level of oil on the dipstick, and cleanliness inside the oil filler cap, before starting the engine for the first time.
£1500 is fine for that - I was wondering at the start how you got it so cheap until I saw the damage. The fact it has a new rear bed quarter in the back is prime!
That’s a bargain ,when you look at van prices at the moment. Would love to see what you do with this ,if dad can work his magic. Great content on the channel, well done👏👏
If the ABS light is on with "nearly no symptoms" then I'd check the following: The breaklight switch. The sensors of the wheels for whether they are rolling.
I'm quite curious to get a Part 2 for this truck. It looks like it's a fairly well maintained work-horse, and vehicles like that tend to give fairly good service. Plus inside it looks really nice; spacious, comfortable, well equipped. The lockable bed cover is practical... If that quarter panel could be repaired, it looks like a really useful vehicle to have around.
Wondered when you would get to the 2 piece chassis issue! First thing that went through my mind when you were looking at all the rust. Shame because these are great looking trucks.
Hello Matt , another excellent video. Well said about death warnings re the hot weather. I was born in 1966 1976 was hot, we just got on with it!!! Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged
Always liked the look of the Navarra. When you mentioned how easy it was to drive it reminded me a guy that I used to encounter on the A41 around 5am every Monday morning. He used to fly down that road like he was driving a Focus RS 😧. I thought they were slow and cumbersome, but he proved otherwise.
I has to drive a Chevy Colorado a few years back. It was the one that's the same as the Isuzu D-Max rather than the US version which is bigger. That went a lot faster than I imagined. Obviously a heavier load would effect it.
@@Storm.Z.4u people are entitled to say what they want without petty criticism. You must have something better to do, like making sure your comments are without fault thus avoid being a hypocrite.
@@Storm.Z.4u Disagree - I own a newer 3.0L variant of this truck - on performance touring tyres it'll break 8 seconds 0-60 and is surprisingly chuckable with progressive steering and overall good feedback (despite some vagueness at times) the steering overall is light but weighting up nicely in the corners - it puts most medium to large size crossovers I've driven to shame. The model I have also has transmission/electronics based off the 370Z so is reasonably responsive with again nice progressive power delivery and fast smooth gear changes. The only thing in that respect which is lacking is the ride quality which partly thanks to the rear leaf springs is more akin to a 90s era 4x4. Even the 2.5L variant isn't terrible though the engine is far more industrial like rattly diesel compared to the 3.0 and a bit more jerky in comparison - though pretty strong if you need a workhorse for towing, etc. That said given it is over 2tons of truck needs a lot of responsibility to drive in any kind of spirited fashion and I certainly don't rag it around the road.

He told him it was buying them up for the Ukrainian military. Two weeks later he gets photos of it painted on camouflage in Ukraine.
I started buying cars again with my partner. Forgot some advice now we have 6 cars and my neighbours think I'm a car dealer. However 3 series convertibles at this time of year have been brilliant.
I have something to look for that's probably not mentioned on car vertical. The boost control valve can fail causing the boost to be on all the time. This wears the thrust bearing in the turbo.
I think you’ve done alright there with regards to the ABS it could be a cracked censor ring as I had this problem and had to weld it up so I suggest you check all A B S rings for a possible crack at the moment I’m looking for Toyota Hilux as I was a bit wary of the Nissan Navara because of the rot in the chassis and also they stop making them so I think is Toyota has got the edge
In NZ, a 4WD with dents & rust is called a 4WD. 4WDs have mud tyres or at least ATs fitted, they actually go off-road. They may have dog boxes on the back along with a deer or feral pig carcass. Navaras can be real trucks. A 4WD here without dents, dings + imperfections is called a "poser mobile" or a "city poofter truck". They're owned by people in cities, they may tow a family boat but they only go as far off-road as the nature strip outside the owners house. They have 18" alloy wheels, rarely get mud on them and are mainly used for school + tip runs, doing the grocery shop or "pretend rugged guy" duty in the office car park. The Navara can be both. The Mitsui Triton + Toyota Hilux can also be both. A flat deck, mud + dog boxes says "actual 4Wd".. alloy wheels + road tyres say "Nice truck, Deirdre"
I’ve got a 2009 one that I use a couple of times a year. Kicking out black smoke now and then is normal on these and wheel bearing need a whole hub replacement. I love autos although not in a workhorse like this, but at least yours is working well.
This is a rugged pick-up that has been through hell & back! The private number plate should fetch some £499 there or thereabouts 👍 another great video 👏
The best vehicle I’ve ever had. Loved my navara double cab. It’s probably an adventura edition not techna. I Had the full canopy on the back in drug dealer black. I had a D40 & really regret selling it. Common issues on them were.....rear chassis, stretched timing chains & they do like to drop injectors. On the plus side chassis repair kits are cheap, as are replacement duplex timing chain kits & the rear tub is really easy to remove. Second hand rear tubs are cheap too 😉 Mine was a 6 speed manual & also no DPF 😁 They also respond brilliantly to a remap which really wakes the truck up & can help you achieve 30mpg on a run with little effort. I recon you gir a good buy there buddy
The plate is a gem. Pickwick? I'd contact businesses with Pickwick in their name and I'd ask more than 500. The scuff will buff out with a bit of t-cut and elbow grease? A 4 seat cab with auto. That is a lot of ute for the money even with the scrape. I would take the plate off, tidy it up a little, do a cheap fix to the body, and flog it on for a small profit plus the pure profit from the plate. A definite probable profit. Or a very handy scruffy practical 4WD for the tip and winter? You can't lose.
I'd be tempted to look for a used back end, only bolt on, may save a load of hassle plus you may find one the same colour, the sale of the private plate would easily offset the cost, plus it would do away with the rot on the other side
Because a pickup has the silly concept of being a tupperware with an engine and no cover. If you don't want something to be stolen or rained on, it has to go inside. (even with one of these covers...)
I bought a brand new 'Aventura' spec D40 Navara in 2007 (at a cost of around £27K) In 2016 i was contacted By Nissan and it was suggested to me, that I not drive it any more, until the chassis has been checked for corrosion/failings (but it was my only daily transport) whilst in that 6-month queue for its inspection 'job', the timing belt broke and destroyed the engine beyond financial repair - the mileage was only 127,000 The cost of an engine fix/replacement . . . and the impending chassis issues meant it was better for me to sell it as is, and as a non-runner. In 2018, i sold it for £4,250 as, a spares or repairs The body & interior were in awesome condition (and it had a cherished plate too, which i let go as well (R10 PRO) Overall with the whole Navara ownership experience, was disappointing - despite it always being serviced on time, driven considerately, spent extra £'s on, and really a 'pampered' family car . . . . and in 'Mint' condition with lots of extras inc a £2.5K+ 'Armadillo' bed roll-top Nissan treated me like shit - every day after i paid hem for the Pickup, many, many times and always screwed up & let me down - and for that reason i would NEVER buy another Nissan - or advise anyone else to. Nice Job Nissan service for ruining the ownership experience of an 'Okay-good' car

Dude you should really consider doing a under £5, £10, £15 grand series. Ie great cars for under £10 k etc. Keep up the great content dude. 👍🏻
Oh go on my mucka I'd love this car well done you my Good Brother x oh ouch I just see the damage but you can sort it mucka x Good luck to you mate
That’s a win brother !!
I know someone who had a tidy one of these. He checked the chassis - all Okay. He buffed it up and got a call from a Ukrainian guy who subsequently bought it for the asking price.
Follow-up video please! Would be really interested to see how you turn this around and for how much
The crazy rays from that 37* UK sunshine make your hair look strawberry blonde, amazing!😉😁
I think you’ve done alright there with regards to the ABS it could be a cracked censor ring as I had this problem and had to weld it up so I suggest you check all A B S rings for a possible crack at the moment I’m looking for Toyota Hilux as I was a bit wary of the Nissan Navara because of the rot in the chassis and also they stop making them so I think is Toyota has got the edge
love the new " Hair Do " Matt i guess we,ll be seeing you hanging around Canal st in the village .... PLEASE ONLY JOKING
Will the real slim shady please stand up.
Loving the new ‘do’
Your new hair cut goes well with the truck.😜😜
It'll polish out mate!
I guess it is different in the UK. How on earth can a plate be worth anything? Can you explain?
Great vid as usual, did you have your hair dyed so you can fit in with that 1D groupie look? 😂
My dad had one of those new in 2006 i absolutely loved it. I thought it was the best thing ever. It was constantly broken down though.
I wish you would keep doing the “few weeks later” and show us the finished article and what you made from the sale. Good video tho.
The best vehicle I’ve ever had. Loved my navara double cab.
It’s probably an adventura edition not techna. I Had the full canopy on the back in drug dealer black. I covered 234k in 7 years still on the same clutch/ engine/ gearbox. Only issues over the time were the electrical gremlins, sat nav faults air bag warning light , 👍👍👍
Best you've ever had, speaks volumes about the other vehicles you've had.
@@Storm.Z.4u yes it does B. I’ve not been blessed with huge pool to choose from as a works vehicle, but against the Mitsubishi l200 the first edition of the Ford ranger, it was head and shoulders above the rest. And with no benefit in kind to the tax man it’s still a commercial vehicle no added cost to me, so why wouldn’t I love a 4x4 with leather , sat nav , a/c heated seats ect ect kids and family all fit in great for European holiday trips room in the rear pickup compartment and not pay for the weekend diesel , win win I’d say.
@@keithmyerscough9900 You can buy yourself a car you know, you don't have to rely on the charity of others.
@@Storm.Z.4u give your head a shake. Company vehicles goes with a lot of professional trades. Perks of the job. Just I’m not Mondeo man.
Love 💕 your comment? Looks as though been driving through jurrasik park ? Keep these comments acoming hilarious 😂😆 Thanks for sharing .
I lived in Canada I had a Ford 150 Lareat ?? fully loaded. loved it
Ripped jeans… then pink hoody… now bleached hair… are you coming out next video? JK. Great vids Mat keep them up 👍. Videography & editing on the last jag vid was great btw. Slick 👌
I think he's just dressing in character for driving the truck. All owners of these things have a similar look.
@@matthewgodwin3050 Round my parts the drivers of these are all young farmers sons that look like they haven’t showered in a month and need hosing down 🤣
I dunno. Ripped jeans and pink hoody, he's probably trying to be Tim Henson 😜
I had a D40 & really regret selling it. Common issues on them were.....rear chassis, stretched timing chains & they do like to drop injectors. On the plus side chassis repair kits are cheap, as are replacement duplex timing chain kits & the rear tub is really easy to remove. Second hand rear tubs are cheap too 😉
Mine was a 6 speed manual & also no DPF 😁 They also respond brilliantly to a remap which really wakes the truck up & can help you achieve 30mpg on a run with little effort.
Nice truck mate
I'd be tempted to look for a used back end, only bolt on, may save a load of hassle plus you may find one the same colour, the sale of the private plate would easily offset the cost, plus it would do away with the rot on the other side
May I wonder why the previous owner sticked that rear left quarter into the cabin of... pickup!!!
I'm thinking the previous owner doesn't have the key to the trunk either!!
Because a pickup has the silly concept of being a tupperware with an engine and no cover. If you don't want something to be stolen or rained on, it has to go inside. (even with one of these covers...)
I bought a brand new 'Aventura' spec D40 Navara in 2007 (at a cost of around £27K)
In 2016 i was contacted By Nissan and it was suggested to me, that I not drive it any more, until the chassis has been checked for corrosion/failings (but it was my only daily transport) whilst in that 6-month queue for its inspection 'job', the timing belt broke and destroyed the engine beyond financial repair - the mileage was only 127,000
The cost of an engine fix/replacement . . . and the impending chassis issues meant it was better for me to sell it as is, and as a non-runner.
In 2018, i sold it for £4,250 as, a spares or repairs
The body & interior were in awesome condition (and it had a cherished plate too, which i let go as well (R10 PRO)
Overall with the whole Navara ownership experience, was disappointing - despite it always being serviced on time, driven considerately, spent extra £'s on, and really a 'pampered' family car . . . . and in 'Mint' condition with lots of extras inc a £2.5K+ 'Armadillo' bed roll-top
Nissan treated me like shit - every day after i paid hem for the Pickup, many, many times and always screwed up & let me down - and for that reason i would NEVER buy another Nissan - or advise anyone else to.
Nice Job Nissan service for ruining the ownership experience of an 'Okay-good' car
My one is also 2006. Had her from new. Been a absolutely brilliant vehicle. Service each year and no other parts replaced except battery and tyres.
What's the mileage now? You should consider changing the timing chain though.
I lived In Thailand for 16 years, Thailand is the land of pickups! I had a great mechanic named Pan who had previously worked in R&D for Mazda in Australia and had retired to his home country of Thailand and opened a garage, he worked on cars for the love of the job. Anyway, nobody knows more about pickups than Pan, and I asked him which was the best Pickup, expecting him to say Toyota Hilux or Ford/Mazda Ranger, he surprised me by saying Nissan Navara and went on to explain all the reasons why.
yes. it is. :)
Curious to know the reason why. I'm thinking of buying one for farm use it would really help to know its pros & cons
@@boblion4186 Hi bob, it was a few years ago and I can’t really remember all the reasons but he certainly rated the engine, the build quality and the reliability. I’m not sure if Navara in Thailand is the same vehicle as Navara in other markets, I say this because now I am living in Europe and Nissan vehicles here seem to be very different from the Nissan vehicles in Thailand.
@@andrewstones2921 thanks Andrew that's still helpful & a confidence booster
Keep us updated with what do with it 👍🏼
i just love the look of these pick up's like you say with a little bit of TLC for the money paid it would make a useful workhorse
keep it up form Kingdom of Norway!
You can get two used rear panels from ebay or any scrap yard and slap them on, service, clean up... it will be good to go👍🏻 it's a good vehicle
get rid get rid..had a 2007 and nissan bought it from me due to chassis rot. apparently they were made in spain and never coated..so rotted away. i loved mine until i poked my finger right through the chassis. not sure of the new bros look.
Your idea for using it as a tip and general runaround is the best idea then when your done and plate is sold you will still make a profit.
I have had one of these for 12 years from new and it's the best pickup i have ever owned.....and that includes the Hilux i had before! Mine is the Long Way Down model and that came with leather.Shame they have problems with the chassis breaking in half !
Liking the new Eminem hair style. One day you will become the real slim shady! Looking forward to gold chairs in next video.
I had one from new with problems going in and out of 4 wheel drive … good luck
Have a friend who before retirement used to sell old 4x4 to a chap from Kenya, an old dog over here was luxury motoring for them.
Don't forget pick up trucks are usually considered as commercial vehicles, so tip runs might need a permit! Excellent video though.
Change the rear bed over. Plenty on the Web. Also don't forget about the chassis as they had real bad rust issues.
Indeed, I used to work in a Nissan body shop and the recall was a joke, if there wasn't any holes in the chassis it was just a case of cleaning it and painting over all the surface rust, thus not actually preventing it. I wouldn't touch one of these trucks
Hi Justin I've just bought a 2011 Tekna . Should I be concerned about chassis ?
Interesting new hair style !!
Won't last the good weather. Don't forget when I lived in Stockport mostly rained..I like the other car parked near the navarra
Pre 2010 Navara the chassis rotted through behind cab some rotted in half omg. Nissan bought loads back to support the brand... Good luck.
Another great vid Mat. Good luck with the tip, bastards wont let me in in my Hilux. And what have you done to your hair....?
Its going to look so much better when rear quarter done - good vehicle for jobbing builder
Love the new hair very rockabilly like myself.....would give you 450 for the plate....
Hopefully 2nd part of this video is coming in the near future, so we know what happened with it and what it looks like after you put some money in it.
You want another one? 2012 king cab. South based. Went in for chassis check.
That number plate would probably sell well in Prestwick, Scotland!
I former colleague of mine, lives near you. Used to love hot weather. Until he was blown up by an IED, which damaged the hypothalamus in his brain. That's the bit that regulates temperature. So, when he gets all 'wussy' and worries about 35+ degrees, it's only because his brain will literally boil... But you're probably right, he should just put a pair of shorts on hey!
