I felt exactly like you, Matt, I felt sad watching the video. You just know that this guy had so much fun outfitting his car, thinking about the details, being meticulous in documenting maintenance. And then he just passes. That’s sad.
I hope he had many good experiences with it and that he enjoyed driving it, keeping it tidy and installing stuff. No one will appreciate what you did to your car more than yourself.
Was a bittersweet video to watch as someone with a kitted out D40 Navara, though not to this extent. I can appreciate, at least somewhat, how the previous owner thought about their vehicle and the experiences they've had.

I can indeed confirm that was a fold up shovel…useful on an expedition. I was given one as a Christmas present a couple of years ago…now, bearing in mind I’m approaching 70…I drive an old Toyota Avensis and rarely venture beyond the local shops my use for it was always going to be limited…but the joyful surprise I mustered on being given it was worthy of an Oscar and although this reaction was an act it was an act of love. ❤️

Why would you go to the time and expense when Nissan Frontiers are a dime a dozen and we're actually for sale in the United States so you can get parts and service easily.

When I see the word Navara mentioned, it reminds me of the one that splits into two.
Keep it do the welding and use it for summer trips with a bit of off roading thrown in. Those roof racks are worth a pretty penny

My fave vid of yours by a country mile. Just have to respect these old trucks that were actually driven and used like they were supposed to. Bet the old fella had a load of adventures in it and was a fairly independent self sufficient guy. Fishing camping and cooking.

6:51 ~ That's a really good tea kettle, Matt. That's usually made out of Titanium. But can be found made from basic aluminum too.
8:02 ~ That is a folding entrenching tool. Copy of the Gerber design that used to be (perhaps still is) standard-issue in the U.S. Army. Campers often use one to dig temporary trenches for use as an improvised bathroom (not for urine). Then they fill in the trenches with dirt afterwards, to bury their "business." Using one is easy. Don't extend it all the way. Just mostly so. Keep the head at a 90-degree angle pointed down. Stand with feet wide apart. Bend at the waist. 2-hand hold on the horizontal handle. Slam the tip of the head into the dirt as hard as you can, then pull back towards you to create the deep trench.
What to do with it? Another vote for donating it to your Ukrainian friend. I'm sure he'll be happy to take it off your hands. Even if he has to tow it to where it needs to go before getting shipped over. Hopefully it survives longer than that Mitsubishi SUV you donated.

You did your best. In certain parts of the world where labour is far cheaper and MoT approval is as scarce as water is locally to them, this vehicle would be welded back up and kept going for another decade at least. Thanks for the video and giving it a go.

You'd get a few quid for that roof rack, and if the Kamei roof box is OK once hot jetwashed, the box, rack and the scrap value of the car will get your money back.
I like the overall videoquality and the aspect ratio,everybody should do it like this.Especially on my phone,I hate having huge bezels.
That is a vehicle that's served it's purpose and lived its life. It would have brought good times to its previous owners. I'm a sappy old sod, but I liked seeing a bit of the history of this car.

A mate of mine has a similar rig for fishing, he's had it a while and has set it up just how he likes it,bed ,cooking stove,12v cool box etc,not worth a lot of money,but to him it's priceless.

So many cars on your channel that just come and go. This one though had a story to tell, as you were going around the car, you got a sense of the previous owner and some of the adventures that the Nissan could have been on. A sad one, I knew it would end as a scrapper from the start.

Great video Matt, but sad as well, the previous owner had lots of adventures in that vehicle, that truck needs to live on,it can't end here, the look of it,the draws in the back,it's a fab looking thing,welding can be done,and what an exploration vehicle you'd have for a fraction of the price of a new land cruiser,keep it Matt,what a video you could make taking it to Scotland wild camping perhaps with your brother ??

Love the service history folder , I have one put together with over $6000 worth of work I’ve done in the short 9 months I’ve had my Aussie built 07 ford falcon , has had some work done prior to purchase but no history . Had some prior in a book but there’s 100000 km worth missing . It’s like a new car now though .
It'll be worth more as parts bin, plus the other goodies in the car. You should still turn a small profit. You never know. Thanks for sharing.

14:44, i think those are rubber stud things that you put "under" your shoes, like studded tire it offers grip in icy conditions on foot lol. Usually you aren't allowed to walk in stores with those on.

Fun fact - the D22 continued to be produced here in South Africa until about 2 or 3 years ago. Remained very popular due to their toughness and relatively low cost. They were upgraded with the newer YD25 turbo diesel engines from later Navaras, but were known locally simply as the “Hardbody”. That hardbody, so to speak, was probably the reason for them being discontinued. About four years back, some safety oversight body crash tested them against the latest modern standards, and gave them a zero safety rating. Apparently, the people inside became the crumple zones.

1:39 same with the 2nd generation models. In North America they kept that one until 2021 before replacing it with the 3rd generation which is completely different from the current Navara.

I think the collapsible Spade if for when you have the "Call Of Nature" while camping off grid.
That collapsible spade is also your toilet maker if you see what I mean.
My first thoughts were rust - of that era these rotted spectacularly behind the cab in the chassis where they can almost snap in half.
Love this - a pre Renault Nissan. Can you get hold of a Primera or an Almira please? Oh - do the white gauges mean you got the Nismo version?
A little sad that, I already saw a North Pole expedition roadtrip coming up, we'll on the other hand you've got some really useful items to keep: the big torch is if I'm not mistaken a Maglite branded one which last forever.
Previous owner may have used it in the mountains skiing roof box for ski s ,boot grippers for snow ice. keep the previous owners spirit alive. Do it up & use it make great yt content !

We used them here in mining industry in Australia for a few years, not as robust as a Hilux, but they could hold their own .... drive like a tractor and the back doors on the crew cab model are tight, but reliable
