Most tutorials on replacing this particular camshaft go to length to steer viewers away from amazon or bay-of-e chinesium camshafts. Please, if possible, explain the failure mode of those assemblies, i.e., does the lever depart, do the lobes strip off, etc. I'd like to know the why of those failures, if you have personal experience.
I have zero experience with that. I suggest you strap one in and see what happens.
Thanks Mike for your time doing these videos. Much appreciated. Question for you from my day today, crikey. I don't think you need model or engine model likely other than its a B&S 20hrs thats years old and i keep in perfect order. I was mowing, its a Craftsman riding, when at a pause and then moving again I got a big blue cloud in front of me. Just one big pooof. Motor slowed so I of course shut it down. Thought id start up but only get spin but no start. ??? Now I did an oil change yesterday, nice NAPA Gold and good...but not synth oil. Level looked good. Pulled the stick and looks like its all there...but...slightly overfilled. Can you please give me any insight? Come to Montana and I'll take you out on a fishing trip. Thanks again man.
They are really finicky about having the proper oil level. I would drain the extra out and make sure it is between the dots and clean the plug.
Haha would love to go fishin with ya in Montana. Is God’s country up there
@MowerMike Thanks Mike and for the fast reply. I'll get at it. We'll see.
Interesting. I drained the oil down somewhat. Plug was new. Let it sit a couple of days and she fired right up. Let it idle and then mowed about an hour just fine. Shutting of here and there. New gas. Next day, nothing. Cranks but no go. ??😮
