    Great video instructions. My Intek 18.5 HP was a T20 Torx set screw with 10mm nut/bolt. The inner nut was loose! Had to address that first.

    I was told the aluminum rod pushrod is four intake the steel one is for exhaust because of the Heat

    Thank you so much for your advice on valve settings. I have been trying to set valves according to manufacture it would not work. I did what you said set at.005 and started immediately.

    Excellent. Mower with the Intek 13hp OHV. Died and would not start with spark. As you said, I removed valve cover, found TDC and OMG the play was immense. I will set it to spec but with that amount of play are there other issues likely? Thanks

      I would pull the rod out and make sure it isn’t bent. But ya it may just have worked loose also

    Why are there two different sizes of pushrods as far as the roundness

    • @MowerMike
      @MowerMike  18 дней назад

      One is steel and one is aluminum

    If there is very little slop why do they really need to be adjusted in the first place as long as they're not super tight?

    Always sharing good content... I have a question, and I hope you can help. Why my 15.5 hp. B&S smokes when I engage the blades. It's smokes out of the exhaust, and it's white smoke.

      It is burning oil. I suggest checking the oil level and making sure it isn’t over filled.

    Amazing timing for this video, thanks! My GT5000 with the B&S twin broke a while back and I just decided to dive in a bit to see what was up. I suspected a rocker or pushrod issue and sure enough when I opened the valve cover on one side the bottom pushrod was just laying there exactly like your bonus footage! When it failed the motor just immediately froze and wouldn't budge. It was extra hard to start just prior to this, didn't want to turn over but finally got it running then seemed ok.
    After putting the pushrod back in and "roughly" adjusting the rocker I can now rotate the motor around but something just doesn't feel right. The pushrod didn't seem bent. Can/does something inside the motor break when this happens or think I can re-install and adjust the valves and "send it"? Any way to tell for sure if something inside is broken other than just manually rotating the motor and see if everything feels smooth? I don't want to risk more damage if I overlook something.

      I would just re install it and “send it” unless your hear a clunking sound. Resistance when turning the motor by hand is normal, is just compression

      @@MowerMike Thanks. After watching a few more videos I'm wondering if one, or more, of my valve guides may have slipped up. I haven't looked at it again yet to see. Appreciate the advise and for the videos.
      Got any more videos coming up on the V-Twin?

      Well dang... No such luck for me. Went to find TDC to adjust those valves and that piston isn't moving when I rotate the motor, other side does. Guess I'm in for a deep dive. ☹

      @@shanesdiy Rip the bottom off of it and pop that piston out. Just make sure to check things out and see if it is worth rebuilding or not when you are in there.

    What if the set screw is stuck? I am afraid I will strip the head of the set screw.

    • @MowerMike
      @MowerMike  3 месяца назад

      Can’t help ya there. Just take your time. Sometimes I will use an electric drill on a stuck screw to see if it breaks it loose.

      Remove the lifters and push on the pushrod tips with your fingers. You will be able to tell when they are both pushed out from feel.
