    1:51 connecting rod?

    You skipped the part I most needed, when you replace the camshaft does it matter what position the gears are related to? I forgot to mark my gears on disassembly. Is there a video to show that segment? Thanks

      @MowerMike  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes!!! There should be a dot on the camshaft gear that you line up with the gear on the crankshaft which has a dot also. They have to be lined up so it is timed right.

      @@MowerMikeI really appreciate your quick response, I recently bought a 4 year old JD E110 with a 19 hp B&S motor,, it was smoking blue when I bought it with very low hours so I took a chance on a bad head gasket given the price was right. It wasn’t the head gasket, now after having torn down the engine I discovered one of the oil rings was never installed from the factory, everything else is perfect. The mower was mfd in March 2020, B&S was not only going through a supply line slowdown from Covid but also had bankruptcy looming ahead in the near future. I wouldn’t be surprised if this mower was made on a Friday afternoon near quitting as well. I have the rings and gaskets on order for next week. I didn’t watch real close when I pulled my governor out, is there a specific way to place it or do you just put in there. I’d hate to get back together only to discover a mistake. And I suppose you have to remove the oil pump cover in order to install the pump drive shaft, otherwise it seems would be impossible to line up. Is that part of the video anywhere to watch? Thanks again, Great channel!

    Just curious. Do you think you could have done this while its still in the mower?

    • @MowerMike
      @MowerMike  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hmmm nope because you have to take the oil pan off to get to the rod bolts.

    That Loc-Tite worked great on that main bearing cap bolt didn't it? LOL

    Well, I was about done with it thanks to this wonderful walk-through when suddenly the new connecting rod that I put in place and torque to 100lb/in made the whole crankshaft not to move anymore. Any advice on this, Mike?

    • @MowerMike
      @MowerMike  4 месяца назад

      Maybe you put it on backwards. The try slipping the rod cap 180 and see if it makes a difference. Or maybe you didn’t put any lube on it. It needs assembly oil on that journal.

      @@MowerMike Thanks for the reply! Turns out I needed to apply muriatic acid to the crank journal to melt aluminum that transfered from the broken connecting rod over time. Once I removed it, I gave the journal a quick polish with 800, 1000 and 1200 grit then the connecting rod moved as it should.

      @@MowerMike gotcha. Reasons I’m askin that’s funny mine is also an 07 model started smokin baaad and oil coming out of fuel pump. Think it’s time for a set of rings only bout 330hrs on it

    • @MowerMike
      @MowerMike  5 месяцев назад

      @@c.torino2479 Try running it with the dipstick removed and if it is puffing smoke and pressure out of the dipstick hole then ya it probably needs new rings and a head gasket. It isn’t a bad job once you get the engine up on a work bench.
      Or you can add something like Lucas oil treatment and see if it helps.

    Mine need the same rings for the craftsmen 18 hp.
    It didn't lose compression or nothing it was just eating oil and coming out as blue smoke not real bad but enough if i kept using it it would lock up
    So im using a briggs 17.0 hp off of a john deere i bought from someone until i fix the 18

    • @MowerMike
      @MowerMike  2 месяца назад

      The rings are available on Amazon links in the video description. If it is black smoke it is probably a fuel issue and not your piston rings
