For me, this reaction confirms that Brad likes the softer female vocals (see reactions for the Cranberries, Bjork, etc.). As the vocals come in, Lex blurts out "what?" Brad on the other hand is chilling with a relaxed smile on his face. It's a visible change in his face. Love it. Some other softer female vocal choices for Brad include: Cardigans, Chvrches (yes that's the spelling), The Sundays, Natalie Merchant. Let's give Brad what he wants!

I LOVE that Brad gets this, Massive Attack were part of the TRIP HOP scene in the 90's and produced some of the most interesting sounds at a time when Brit Pop was happening in the UK. Massive Attack do have heavier tunes in their repertoire - the song Angel has a heavy sound to it. However the whole TRIP HOP scene was more chill and sedate. You should try the group Portishead next, their big hit was a song called Glory Box. It's chill but has a weird hypnotic sound to it that took everyone by surprise when it came out over here in the UK.

Metaller here, same. Love Massive Attack and Portishead. Also enjoy some dance/electronic acts like Rudimental and Elderbrook.
I think it comes down to substance for me. If it means something, has good composition and a creative direction, I tend to appreciate it.
I'm the same with more "mainstream" acts. I generally can't stand popular music, but artists like Florence + the Machine get my attention because there's clearly meaning to it.
