Ah this whole genre often referred to as Trip Hop is incredible, it was unique to Britain, and mainly in the Bristol area. You should check out more from Trip Hop artists such as Portishead (songs like Glory Box, Roads, All Mine, Mysterons and Sour Times), Tricky (Ponderosa and Black Steel) and Goldfrapp (Strict Machine, Utopia and Train) as well as more Massive Attack (Unfinished Sympathy, Karmacoma, Angel and Safe From Harm) all great songs.
@radbarij they were immaculate, and Beth's voice is extraordinary live. Her album Out of Season with Rustin Man (Paul Webb bassist from the band Talk Talk) is also a great listen.
Beautiful song ❤️ it's been almost 25 years since it came out, but it is so ahead of its time! The singer is Elizabeth Fraser, she was the lead singer of the amazing band Cocteau Twins!!
That's Elizabeth Fraser from The Cocteau Twins singing. She has an amazing voice and a 5 octave range. She wasn't in the band but dating one of the band members at the time I think. Listen to her songs with This Mortal Coil, especially Song to a Siren. I think you will like it.
Hypnotic! Completely get it about feeling music in moments of your life - like a soundtrack. Music is deep. If you want more trip hop, Portishead "Glory Box" is a famous one to try. Thanks guys!!
Guys, you stumbled upon my favourite bathtime tune, haha. Madonna almost got the job to sing on this. I do not feel it would have had the same effect. Elizabeth absolutely blows this out of the water and learning that her boyfriend Jeff Buckley, another amazing musician had passed away whilst writing and recording this makes it extra amazing. I'd recommend you guys check out Moby - Porcelain. It's another wonderful journey.
I can't imagine Madonna doing half as good a job. Plus it would've been remembered as the Massive attack song Madonna sang on instead of just being remembered for the brilliant song that it is.
You have to read the lyrics, this song was her farewell to the music artist Jeff Buckley who she was very close to & had recently died & was found in a River . It’s one of the most haunting yearning songs, & it’s so sincere & pure with its sorrow. 👌🎵🎶🎤🎹🥁
I remember being 17, floored when I first heard this song. It was playing in the local independent record store and it set a fire under me. I asked the store clerk who it was and got Mezzanine immediately. It’s still frequently played in my rotation
These delicious, ethereal vocals by Liz Fraser (that have that special effect on a male listener)) and that heavy beat. What a combo! Always loved this song. I think it's genius.
Dissolved Girl, from this same album, Mezzanine, is another very cool track that you guys definitely will want to hear. There's a very trippy video for it that is comprised of scenes from a bizarre sci-fi movie made by Luc Besson, the same guy who made The Fifth Element, except it's much, much, much more strange.
Great reaction guys.....this combines on my own moments as a song that fits and also as a song at the time and those moments.....powerful as F....thanks for this 👍.....as others have said (and yourselves), great stuff in the 90's, 2000's and possibly beyond...
You should check out “Unfinished Sympathy”- simply amazing! They also did a collaboration with Madonna for the Marvin Gaye remake “I want you”, which to my mind turned out to be one of her coolest tracks of all time.
0 seconds ago Elizabeth Fraser dated Jeff Bucket after Cocteau Twins broke up. Her first UK hit was a cover of his dad Tim Buckley's SONG TO THE SIREN. Elizabeth heard Jeff Buckley was missing and presumed dead in the Mississippi River as she arrived to write and record TEARDROP. Her emotion for her dead ex filled the song with sadness.
Great song, Protection is my favorite, but yeah...on certain days...this music is great to turn right up and bring the whole neighborhood into the vibe.
How in the hell do u guys know how to react to my favorite songs? It creates deep thoughts and emotions. Like Right Down the Line by Gerry Rafferty, Queen, et Al Y’all hit the nail on the head bros.
Always great to see people get so emotional to great music. It's something that moves me like nothing else. This was such a terrific album when it came out, and it has really stood the test of time. Teardrop is one of the best on it too, so moving and Liz Fraser has to be one of THE greatest female voices of all time.
This is such a beautiful piece of music, so enchanting and emotional. The simplicity, the heartbeat drums, the vocal… just sublime. You should check out Massive Attack Paradise Circus. Equally as powerful but with a very seductive quality. That track crescendos in a way that just sweeps me away every single time. The power of music is something else, and these guys are masters.
Oh...I remember this special song...again chills!!! Then i was 15...It´s like a meditation music :-) Realy good song and videoclip also uniq. Thanx for reminder guys.
Not sure if you're aware of on going rumour that one of the members of Massive Attack, Robert "3D" Del Naja might be the famous mysterious street artist BANKSY or at least friends with him because he was in Banksy's Graffiti Artist group "The Wild Bunch" in the 1980's in Bristol UK.
Massive Attack, the kings of Trip Hop! No matter how many times I listen to their albums, they will never grow old or bore me. It is like being pulled into a different dimension. They definitely were the soundtrack to my life for some time...They have so many great songs, especially on the "Protection" & "Mezzanine" albums. Try "Protection", "Angel" or "Inertia Creeps"...BTW, that heavy background beat to Teardrop is supposed to reflect a heartbeat, just in case nobody else has commented on it. It becomes more evident when you see the video.
Hi bro’s! Helene here. Nice to see you. Two things: You both have heard Aurora, I know, and love her voice. Picture her covering this song. She does an outstanding job. Just for yourselves….check out one of her covers of this…… Secondly: This is a genre of music called trip-hop. It originated in Bristol, England in the mid-late 90’s. Massive Attack and Portishead are probably the best known bands in this genre…..which is…as you can hear…pretty “trippy” and hypnotic. Very unusual melodic lines. Kinda dark. I discovered this genre through Aurora’s cover a couple of years ago….and it became one of the new genres I came to know and appreciate during the pandemic…….in my 70’s. Goes to show you are never too old to discover and appreciate new sounds and styles of music, if you keep an open mind. I would suggest Angel…the official video, as your next listen for this band….or Dissolved Girl. Both excellent and representative of this genre.
So fortunate that Elizabeth was the chosen vocalist..almost to Madonna?? Would have never reached its momentum/ feeling/artistry of a true vocalist!!! Great reaction!!!
Oh my, I still love this. Bought it when it came out! Was not a happy time in my life, lost my 18yr old nephew and my baby daughter. So it still triggers emotions even though the music beautiful.
SADE is an artist with a band who has been with her for multiple decades and you can start with her music from the 80’s and track it all the way up thru the 2000’s and it is WONDERFUL, soulful, melancholic, with a tropical island minor slant music. It is AWSOMELY enjoyable that will stick with you for your lifetime once you discover it. She is gorgeous and originally from Nigeria but ended up growing up in Britain and at 17 moved to New York then, somewhat Americanized. But, her sound NEVER lost their original flavor of soulful, jazzy, smooooothe, sexy. Is what you’d expect to hear in a smokey, intimate, table-club setting with live music. Songs to start with from early days that are classics of hers and of music period: “Is It A Crime” “Paradise” “Sweetest Taboo” Then you can move into: “Ordinary Love” “Soldier of Love” She has MANY wonderful songs does a GREAT show (which, in her instance, I recommend to EVERYONE that your 1st experience checking her out MUST BE LIVE (recorded). There are a number on RUclips to choose from. Once you see her live, then you can FULLY enjoy her experience from then on with or without live.
I sort of remember swaying in a field in the rain with 100 of others not exactly sober just listening to trip hop, not a care in the world. Happy days.
Oh, Aurora made a cool rendition of this song. She has one of those voices too. I don't know if you're reacted to her but I'm pretty positive she would leave you guys floored with her original stuff
This genre is called 'Trip Hop'. Another great example of the genre (other than Massive Attack) is Portishead. You should definitely check out more music from these great artists.
Love this song. Not sure, but it may have made the soundtrack to an episode of Grays Anatomy? That show featured some cutting edge music for at least a few of the early seasons. Iconic. Loved your reaction almost as much! You guys are the best!
Speaking of mood music. Pat Metheny "Last Train Home". Just close your eyes and let the music cast you adrift to who knows where. It is a quiet classic in this genre of music.
Massive Attack are the most underrated band. Their music sounds like nothing on earth. Unfinished Sympathy, Hymn of the Big Wheel, Protection, Safe From Harm, Teardrop, Rising Son, Inertia Creeps, Angel.......every one is astonishing
Sly is one of my favourite Massive Attack songs, the strings at the end have movie soundtrack vibes. It was on their second album and it wasn’t surprising to me that they did and have gone on to do film scores.
I remember the days of mixed tapes & mixed cds, a friend sent me this song & I fell in love! With the song, not the guy lol great choice, loved seeing you guys love it too!♥️✌
Another by Massive Attack - was used for Luther series. Massive Attack- Paradise Circus (Luther Edit- full version) ruclips.net/video/283kL_khAtc/видео.html You might also like Into Dust by the band Mazzy Star
People are saying to listen to more Massive Attack, but this song is kind of an anomaly in their discography. If you like the dreamy ethereal aspects of this song I'd recommend listening to the Cocteau Twins (same singer as on this song). Their album Treasure is a good intro. It's an 11/10 and every song is amazing.
Genre is Trip Hop. Spacey, ethereal, atmospheric, mellow, emotive. Portishead is my favorite (Glory Box is a great start). Good choice for an intro, Massive Attack is fantastic.
"Love, love is a verb, love is a doing word." Crazy lyrics but sung so utterly beautifully. The video was played hourly on MTV UK in the 1990s. I still love this song. ♥
Welcome to Trip Hop/Chill Out. I can't even get into new music. Sorry, Taylor, Beyonce, etc... Do like Billie Elish, but I'm old and a trip hop girl, and always will be. Massive Attack- all time fav, 100%. Portishead, Groove Armada, Morcheeba....so many, but not enough.
Hola chicos hace mucho q no reaccionais a DIMASH....hace dos días q saco un nuevo tema q dura 13 min....porque es como un corto....es impresionante, me gustaría mucho q lo reaccionaseis, se titula THE STORY OF SKY no os arrepentireis

I love trip hop, especially Portishead and Goldfrapp!! I think the US had a similar music trend/genre called "slowcore." A great example of that is a song by the band Low called "Monkey."
Ah this whole genre often referred to as Trip Hop is incredible, it was unique to Britain, and mainly in the Bristol area. +1,000,000 for Glory Box.
And this live performance of it 😲ruclips.net/video/bIJpPdnGjkE/видео.html
What Simply Psi said!
@radbarij they were immaculate, and Beth's voice is extraordinary live. Her album Out of Season with Rustin Man (Paul Webb bassist from the band Talk Talk) is also a great listen.
The first Hoovephonic album is a given as well. And Sneaker Pimps too.
Don't need drugs when listening to triphop....the music is the drug!
Beautiful song ❤️ it's been almost 25 years since it came out, but it is so ahead of its time! The singer is Elizabeth Fraser, she was the lead singer of the amazing band Cocteau Twins!!
Cocteau Twins is the best, listen to it guys !
Cocteau twins definitely worth checking out

Love that song!
Definitely check out their Bristolian counterparts, Portishead, another legendary band ✌️
Portishead were around the same time, and although different, there were similarities. Both bands were high on my list of 90s classics
Portishead have a perfect discography. Absolutely flawless.
Don't forget Zero Seven. Or Sneaker Pimps.
Liz Fraser of the Cocteau twins. One of the great female singers of the past fifty years.
This is the sound of the 90’s… we were blessed af.. trip hop was all British ❤
I saw Massive Attack in concert in LA. This song is everything
Hypnotic! Completely get it about feeling music in moments of your life - like a soundtrack. Music is deep. If you want more trip hop, Portishead "Glory Box" is a famous one to try. Thanks guys!!

I love Massive Attack!! Always take nice long drives with their music🤩💯
massive attack, ultimate chill out music. love them.

Liz Fraser's voice is just out of this world.
A single teardrop is one of the most powerful emotions. There can be so much meaning behind it. So I think the name is perfect.
I remember being 17, floored when I first heard this song. It was playing in the local independent record store and it set a fire under me. I asked the store clerk who it was and got Mezzanine immediately. It’s still frequently played in my rotation
This song has the effect of softening the heart and relaxing the soul.
From the best album of the 90s.
❤&✌ from Australia.
These delicious, ethereal vocals by Liz Fraser (that have that special effect on a male listener)) and that heavy beat. What a combo! Always loved this song. I think it's genius.
The beeping sound is the baby's heartbeat starting in the womb. (Watch the creepy video and you'll understand ;)

This whole album is truly *chefs kiss

Featured on the very first Assassins Creed TV advert, I was instantly hooked after that.
Oh my, I still love this. Bought it when it came out! Was not a happy time in my life, lost my 18yr old nephew and my baby daughter. So it still triggers emotions even though the music beautiful.
WOW. So very sorry about that. 💜
i learn a lot of extra stuff about artists on your show and then spotify them !

Songs to start with from early days that are classics of hers and of music period:
“Is It A Crime”
“Paradise”
“Sweetest Taboo”

“Ordinary Love”
“Soldier of Love”

Elizabeth Fraser X Cocteau Twins lead singer, look up the Cocteau Twins you’ll love them
In a word.....ethereal

Singer is Elizabeth Fraser, check out anything by her previous band Cocteau Twins. Ethereal.
This masterpiece is more like a feeling than it is a song.
False Flags is an underrated gem from these guys. Also The Spoils featuring the lovely voice of Mazzy Star, Hope Sandoval. Give it a spin
Oh, Aurora made a cool rendition of this song. She has one of those voices too. I don't know if you're reacted to her but I'm pretty positive she would leave you guys floored with her original stuff
Thank you for playing some of the best music ( imho ) to come out of the UK ❤
This song was the intro of House M.D.
This genre is called 'Trip Hop'. Another great example of the genre (other than Massive Attack) is Portishead. You should definitely check out more music from these great artists.
You guys should watch the video. It's as amazing as the song is.
I’d highly recommend Unfinished Sympathy by the same band and Glory Box by Portishead, both some of the best songs the Triphop genre has to offer :)
90´s classic!
Whole álbum is cool, but i love the song Mezzaninne
“Dissolved girl “ is my favorite song by them.
Feel v cool to admit that the Cocteau Twins were the first band I ever went to see live. Liz Fraser was stunning x
Gotta be honest, the vocals reminded me of Alanis Morissette.
It's cool to see you guys discovering new genres
You should listen to the whole album “mezzanine” it’s a classic
Liz Frasier of the Cocteau Twins on vocals.
“Protection” & “Unfinished Sympathy” - you boys will LOVE them…you are welcome! 😘 P.S. I loved your reaction. You get it! So lovely to witness! 💛
I second this suggestion ✌️
Elizabeth Fraser 💚
Legend
You guys have only done one Massive Attack song. Time to check out another: 'Angel'
Love this song. Not sure, but it may have made the soundtrack to an episode of Grays Anatomy? That show featured some cutting edge music for at least a few of the early seasons. Iconic. Loved your reaction almost as much! You guys are the best!
It's the theme song from House.
@@dhaibhcuin It was, until the syndication. Now it's just a close-sounding instrumental.

Mezzanine in my opinion was there best album sonically and the lyricism was untouchable.
Love your reactions, guys! If you want to be blown away & have goosebumps some more, try "Jóga" by Björk and "Carousel" by Siouxie and the Banshees.
Greate reaction Bros
