@@brendanfromirelandThey did mention that because Ty lives away from their town/city at the moment they will upload videos with three of them throughout the whole year.
I feel like a common thing people say about this song - and album - is that they can't believe it was released in 1998. That's how ahead of its time this masterpiece was.
This LP is all killer no filler. This one and Teardrop are the biggest singles, and as mentioned the whole composition is ultra-atmosheric with that Matrix vibe. Their earlier stuff is great too (ie. the Blue Lines LP). Check out Daydreaming for the more hip hop side of them with a decided Bristol twist. Speaking of Bristol, and as a fun fact, the artist Banksy is thought of to be a conglomeration of perhaps 3 or more individuals; one very possibly being Robert "3D" Del Naja from MA. The guy most tightly linked with Banksy identity is one of their best buddies from Bristol
Aside from the tracks listed below, they also did the theme song for "House." Massive Attack is all over the place with their sound. If you're ever curious as to what there sound was, check out out "Safe From Harm" and a masterpiece, "Unfinished Sympathy."
Angel This song has been featured in many movies, including Pi (1998), Best Laid Plans (1999), Snatch (2000), Antitrust (2001), Flight of the Phoenix (2004), Stay (2005), and Firewall (2006). It was also featured in the 2003 episode "Commencement" of The West Wing and the 2012 episode "Island of Dreams" of Grimm.
This album transcends all genres of music. I'm a huge heavy metal fan and love it still after all these years. Back when this was out I had various friends who liked music from rave, pop, metal through to classical, all loved this album. A classic album of its time!
It's music like this that makes you knowledgeable about alternator upgrading in your vehicle. I found it out with Enigma-I Love You I'll Kill You. Parked in front of a pile of snow at night and noticed my headlights fluctuating but in a weird way. I stared at it and saw it was matching the bass rhythm 😂
WOW!!! Such a cool tune. Almost sounds like something from Queen Of The Damned or one of the Blade soundtracks, kinda dark and like Ty said, hypnotizing. I had this CRANKED, never heard this before either, loved it. ABSOLUTELY FIRE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Long-time Massive Attack collaborator Tricky (features a lot on their album Protection) is well worth checking out if you like the trip-hop vibe. His album Maxinquaye is fire.
Great to see that Ty will also be trip-hoppin' tonight! There's always extra magic when the three of you are back together. In honor of your upcoming birthday, Ryan, here's a suggestion that seems to have your name written all over it: Van Morrison's jazzy rock classic "Moondance". (It's on Rolling Stones' list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.) Not only does it have the word "moon" in the title, but it also contains flute, a sax solo, a unique & soulful vocalist, and there's even a mention of October in the lyrics. Plus, the video is basically just cars driving through the city at night. Sounds like a serious contender for the Midnight Playlist.😉I think it will go over well with Nick, too, though chances are he's already familiar with it.
Never heard of the song or the band. Very trippy weed-smoking music. Not sure how I feel about it after just one listen but I can’t say I hate it. I get a bit of a Tool vibe from it. And I love Tool. I think if I heard this another time or two, I would probably end up liking it a lot. Thanks for the introduction to trip-hop, Nick. You never cease to amaze me with the music you bring to the channel. Mr. Melophile.
Massive Attack were way ahead of their time! Trip-Hop was actually a relatively big part of music mainstream during the 90's! Tbh, in my biased opinion when it comes to electronic music: Trip-Hop, Drum n' Bass/Jungle, Electro-Jazz and a renewal of Hip-Hop were some of the best things to have ever come out of the 90's!... And ofc, EURODANCE BABY!😁😆🤣🤘❤🤟
Sou brasileira, faz uns 15 anos que ouvi massive attack pela primeira vez ! E poucos anos atras tive a grata surpresa de ouvir eles na abertura de uma serie brasileira... Massive ultrapassou fronteiras e isso me deixa feliz 😌
Guys first timer here mostly because i'm more of a metal listener but trip hop is one of my weak spots too. The sound from your setup is astounding compared to loads of "reactors" which to me is more eadible. Great song. Greetings from the "sunny" UK!
after a night out,,, back for a chill with some mates,,, lights down low,,,, a few beers,,,, just amazing,,, portishead massive attack,,, just brilliant
So cool you enjoyed this, such a great great album! Something else in a not quite similar vein but vibe is Thomas Dolby's One of Our Submarines. I think y'all would enjoy it.
Okay, to appreciate the diverse talent of a legendary songwriter, please do a reaction to Paul Simon - Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes (from The African Concert, 1987). It will take you beyond! No joke!
Check out: UNKLE, "Joy Factory (Ft. Autolux);" Tricky, "Hell Is Around The Corner:" Poe, "Fingertips;" Wax Tailor, "Ungodly Fruit;" Nightmares On Wax, "You Wish;" Blue Sky Black Death, "Our Hearts Of Rain." 🙏🏼😊
PLEASE check out more from this album 🙏 risingson or black milk as no one’s reacted to them. Karmacoma is another favourite of mine but it’s not from this album. One of the best albums of all time, every song is excellent. Such a vibe...love me some trip hop!
It still sounds futuristic even 26 years later
It's definitely time for some Portishead (Glory Box, Sour Times, Roads).
The greatest record within the genre for sure.

Welcome to Trip Hop, guys. It's all about the vibe.

One of the coolest tracks ever. Do "Teardrop", then with Trip Hop ya gotta do "Glory Box" by Portishead, and "6 Underground" by Sneaker Pimps too.
Portishead already got some (deserved) love in the comments so it’s really cool to see a Sneaker Pimps mention. ✌🏽
they have to check out also teardrop cover from aurora!! back to back
Their song - Paradise Circus - is the theme song on the great British t.v. show - Luther. That song added so much to the dark mood of the show.
Yes, and Unfinished Sympathy, and Teardrop, of course.
@@SandsDolphin They have made some great songs for sure.
