@@jtplays7411 Nope not a feature. They just gave you the option to enable or disable the glitch. It's still a bug and will still cause your ship to break apart at some point when you take off or undock.

This. The glitches were actually breaking people's games, and glitch builders who were toxic didn't realize this, and practically harassed Bethesda to fix their game. They did, and now those same people are complaining.
Glitched ship pieces routinely cause ships to break apart and become inoperable upon taking off or undocking. It's great for making show pieces for youtube ship build videos, but it isn't smart to use on ships you actually intend to make practical use of. There is a good reason they patched it out. I think the compromise of just adding the option to turn it on or off was the smart move though. It's off by default which eliminates the accidental triggering of a bug that allows for a fairly game breaking situation to happen. But the option is there to turn it on for players that know what it is and know what's likely to happen eventually as a result of using it.
I didn't care that they removed glitch building. However, when you point out that the winners of the ship building contest used glitch building, that matters. My own ship uses glitch building, but it's strictly optional (and I don't follow that step). And by "my own" I don't mean I made it, it's somebody else's and I follow along, but it's the best ship for how I play. Would love to see how it fares in battles against yours. I'm using the Pinch 8A reactor for the higher hull, the top shield, and the best particle weapons. However, I'm also using 6830s and I have 12k cargo, so I'm not as fast as some of the ships out there. I do have my engine skill maxed though, so I get the "can't target me while I'm boosting" perk. Still, likely not unbeatable, but I can fly to the Kryx system and beat all the Crimson Fleet ships flying around without using a repair kit. I've taken on all of the legendary ships (the enemy factions' M-class cruisers) and won. So, it's a good ship at least.
Not sure if true or not, but I've heard that the next update will make the "glitch build" a part of the game. I don't use this and don't know how, in fact, but it's supposedly going to be a mechanic in the game. We'll see, I guess.
Bigger issue is no explanation. I could see many reasons that glitch building might be patched out if it interferes with a new or planned feature, or even if it was just a plan all along. The bigger issue is that nothing has been communicated. Bethesda never said "hey, this is a bug we plan to fix eventually" or "hey, this is being patched because it will interfere with some new starship content we are working on". I think that would have cleared the air for most people.
@@akosacs01 I get what you're saying, but I'm already having a blast being able to jump from 1 base to another @ Fermi IX-e. Will probably just make something in CK to bypass the need for godmode once the luster wears off. Seems useful for finding an island for a base.
Thanks to Ship Building Tweaks mod. No way Bethesda will bring it back, but I wish they'd try to integrate overlapping parts into vanilla as a feature.
Heck Yes! Was also somewhat hoping that they’d give us a toggle for tolerances too, but realize that’s more of a hope than reality, and can also use mods for that. Still, so glad to see this put back in
I've never used glitching, it was always more changeling to build ships without using it. But it never bothered me that people use it, I actually use a great mod that gives you a glitched ship(Darkstar Astrodynamics), I hear the mod Ship builders tweaks is really great also. I'd just be concerned that maybe Bethesda fixed it for a reason, maybe the next update will add stuff to ship building that would break glitched ships.
I'm mostly a glitch ship builder. As all flip and variant glitches that no longer work can be reproduced with the duplicate glitch, I don't worry about the change too much. It's just slightly more work. So at least for now I can live with that as I can still get the same results without using mods.
Do you not like mods? I can see if you're achievement hunting, but if you don't care about that, the mods that allow for merging, are quality of life improvements more than anything else.
@@MrAnarchyMarine My relation to mods is a bit ambivalent. I like cool things being added, but don't like that most ship related mods add inbalanced ship parts with inflated stats. A mod that just enables glitching again is probably fine, but for now I decided to stick to vanilla and glitched builds that can be reproduced without losing achievements and upload build videos or post them over on Reddit as I don't actively play the game and just load into the ship builder every few weeks when I have a new idea. That might change when the addon release is coming closer as I plan to start a new playthrough for that and then will take some time to inform me more about mods.
Be aware that some of the ships from the base game you can buy or capture ingame use glitches. So by that logic Bethesda also would have to change these ships or remove them.

On the note of bathesda "promoting" the winners for there glitches and such. Its a tactic to get the audience to do the bug testing for you, and to reward the players with the most unique and function gitches. Encouraging the players to think out side of the box during creations, outside the box which developers may not have thought of during creation. Its one of the many ways developers receive feedback for the games.

I am a Sci-Fi Geek and love SF however, Bethesda is only presenting good window dressing - now when I get missions from the General, or a Bounty, or Freestar, etc., I'll be able to drive to the SAME old copy and paste facilities that I can run through blindfolded to kill the SAME guy for creds in every mission - Love the game - BUT - Give us some new exciting content and places! There are MORE unique places in one city on one devastated planet in FO4 than I can find in the entire SF Galaxy! Stealing ships or building ships - the only other thing most say "exciting" is okay but getting boring too! I say other thing because now they'll all talk about "driving" but eventually that will get old too - I'd like more unique missions and especially unique places! Just my thoughts!

Not really sure why they cared enough to fix the flip glitch when there are far more things they could have updated. Fallout 4 still has tons of building glitches that Bethesda never patched. And yes I definitely use glitches in my builds. This very well may hinder my time playing Starfield, considering much of my time goes into ship building. We'll see, but from what I can see most ship builders use glitches. There are some who claim they are vanilla builder's. But you can't be a vanilla builder while using any glitches and or mods. Seems they grayed the line here.
I think it’s ridiculous to patch something that is purely cosmetic in a single player game. Meanwhile, they did nothing about the glitched astra vendor, the glitched bounty npcs, the game crashes, or many of the other problems plaguing the game. The buggy is atrocious to drive on most planets. Myriad of problems but let’s fix the ship builder. Bethesda doesn’t like fun or quality of life.
It wasn't cosmetic only. It broke the natural software barrier of the internal cells when the aesthetic parts clipped in, restricting AI movement in the ship. BGS cannot advance ship building within the game in the future without making it entirely foundationally clean now.
Some amazing news! Apparently, due to popular demand.. Bethesda is bringing the glitch build back. They might make an actual button or something for it though since they actually intend for that feature to be officially in the game now. I don’t think they realized it was something people loved until they took it away and now they want to give it back. This is why Bethesda is probably the best game developer out there. They really do care about the gamers, modders, and anyone who enjoys their work.
There's a few - the Longsword uses a flip glitch and many Stroud Ecklund ships use the snap glitch. The experimental ship you steal in the Crimson Fleet quest is another.
I just tried the buggy on PC and it sucks. Its steers with mouse so you can look around while driving and what I saw there is nowhere to change it in the settings. The throttle with keyboard is very stop and go at low speeds. ShipTechnician and fellow techs, I have a question. How do I determine how far forward my custom ship will land on the landing pad? I'm thinking it tries to center the ship but sometimes that seems incorrect. Some of my big builds parked realistically while others have my fore landing bay infront of my Landing Pad w/ Ship Builder and sometimes on top of my character. Any advice is appreciated.
I spent huge chunks of summer vacation building glitched ships for three characters. I still have a few of them, fortunately. But others are gone for good, I guess. So lame. Who was this hurting? It's not like it makes a ship OP.
I’m in between I really don’t care whether the build is a mod, glitched, or vanilla build. If it looks good I will use it. I tend to build practical ships min/ max to be able to do what I want and survive a fight. So my builds tend to not be amazing but get the job done that I want them to.
It's a single player game and the build glitches did not effect whither you won or lost. There are mods to do an even easier exploit of building, so no problem. If people want to glitch, they will find a way. I predict that before 'Shattered Space' comes out, the buggy will be mounting a Vanguard Obliterator.
Jeez you and a few other creators are acting like its the end of the world. I have a vanilla save with 400 hrs and a load of ships & just get on with it also a mod save, you can still glitch build in vanilla with the update, but once you "buy" the buggy thats it, so now ido all ship building on my modded save instead its simple i play on xbox too. Ps i have ur mod 👌
I can sorta understand why glitched ship buiilds were fixed, Bethesda probably didn't even know that you could do those things until they had a seemingly big amount of players sending in glitched builds for the competition, thus raising awareness to it. And it makes sense that it was only patched out now after that competition was done cuz it'd be unfair to patch it in the middle of it, just to rule out multiple people. Personally I don't see a huge problem with it, but Bethesda probably had their reasons for implementing rulesets to ship building in the first place. But if you're playing this game on PC and not on Xbox, you can just modify the builder's tolerance's with a single command line in your custom.ini, hence why you don't have to glitch if you can mod it.
They had to know about the various glitches, because a number of Bethesda-designed ships use them. Players are always going to push things further than game devs can envisage, however.
I didn’t update the game. Not until this is addressed by modders. Or BGS gives more creative ways to build our ships. But honestly I don’t think it’ll be the same 😢.
i dont use mods until the achievements are collected because they unjustly disable them, so the flip glitch and dupe glitch were a nice thing in the game, also considering about the only content i see on youtube is ship building, it was something that kept the game which is effectively on life support going, so to change it in any way with out offering something like more parts or allowing us to rotate and flip parts that already exist that they clearly forgot to give that function to in the beginning is a bit of a slap in the face to ship building community. a buggy to travel round on planets largely devoid of anything interesting " ooo look procedurally generated rock " isn't enough with the vast distance between the locations anyway the buggy should of been something in the game from day, so this update as a whole as usual feels like one step forward and two steps back
Hey ship technician hope youre doing fine to be honest the fact that they patch a ship glitch is unfortunate to me i used some for my buind and there where incredibly usefull to help me built some shape or even hide parts without making my ship a bulky mess so yeah its unfortunate in a sense but i keep hope because we go an amazing community that put a lot of effort in the moddding section. I see it as a bugfix and I don't mind them removing glitch building. Having glitches in the base game just feels amateurish. I know, bethesda is famous for their bugs, but still. Players who want it can simply install shipbuilding mods that do a better job of it anyway.
So Bethesda "fixed" a bug/glich that nobody was complaing about. I always wait to mod my Bethesda games till I find something that really annoys me, and this "bug fix" does it for me. Let me be clear, this is not a big deal (thanx to mods) just mildly annoying. What I'd like to know is, why now, is it because of the buggy, the upcoming Shattered Space, or some other reason? I don't believe Bethesda would annoy their players just because, it would be nice of them to address this issue by explaining why they did it

QUESTION TO SHIP TECHNICIAN: I've watched your videos and downloaded your weapon 'burst' spreadsheet and I still haven't found the answer to this. Fully powering three weapons systems, engines and shields takes 60 points of power. Even with skills and companions 48 points is the maximum. You're obviously going to fully power your shields in a battle, so at best you have 36 points of power for three weapons and your engines. What is optimal for you underpower to get the maximum DPS?
I’d also suggest fully powering your engines, and let’s assume you need 12 power points for that (although you can obviously build lightweight ships that still get top engine performance with fewer engines). That leaves you 24 power points in your example, possibly fewer if you use the Pinch 8A reactor instead of the 8Z or SF40 Sheared Flow. Now it gets more complicated, because from the damage, fire rate, and recharge numbers alone, turrets rise to the top for sustained DPS, but their accuracy isn’t very good. Still, I’ve already noted you can equip the max amount of Obliterator 250MeV Alpha Turrets and only give them 1 point of power and still get near their full sustained DPS output, which is the best in the game (not considering accuracy). That would leave you with nearly enough power to fully power your other two weapon slots. But even if you partially powered them, the recommendation would likely be the same if you didn’t want a full turret build (because again, the accuracy factor is real): Vanguard Obliterators and Hellfire Autocannons, followed closely by the Exterminator 95MeVs (Autos or non-Autos depending on preference and the difficulty level you play on). You can actually use my spreadsheet to evaluate this, there is a drop-down selector for power to allocate to weapons. Not a clear-cut answer, I know, but I prefer it that way, otherwise we’d lose out on variety :)
Ship building was my favorite part of this game. It seems that someone at Bethesda truly dislikes the ppl who play its games because they keep doing things like removing leagacy weapons from 76 and now this crap
Yeah they gave us a buggy to cover up the building bug that showed up. I just started building ships and only have flip glitch one part on my xbox that went under my Va'ruun hymn cockpit that was always red and now I can't use it. So this means I can't add a Stroud Nose Cap B - Fore Bot under the cockpit to make it look better than the original one. Also xbox doesn't have many mods for such things like PC players have on Nexus. If they are going to take this out then they should give us something official to make up in the ship building section like more ways to flip things, more snap points and better looking ship parts that we don't have to use mods for.
I think they used the contest to ferret out glitches in ship building to patch out lol. Ok maybe that’s not true but, with Bethesda you never know with that squirrelly bunch lol
Sorry that you've been negatively impacted by this change made by Bethesda, ShipTech. Unfortunately, Bethesda has a mounting and extensive history of similar decisions and actions. I just don't engage with their games anymore as much as I would like; to protect myself from being exposed to these kinds of negligence and incompetence and the friction (and sometimes pain) they can cause.
They only mentioned "fixing" the flip glitch, but they also "fixed" the drop glitch, which eliminates a whole host of *other* builds. Even with mods, some placements of certain modules will no longer be possible because of the differences between attachment points. For instance, it's no longer possible to merge a reactor and a jump drive if they have the exact same attachment points, even with mods. And this was so unnecessary. No one asked for these "fixes". Between the buggy Next Gen patch for FO4 that no one asked for and this one for Starfield, BGS has shown themselves to be amazingly disconnected from their user base.
You own legendary encounter, nice! I have a mod that should go up tonight for those who like merging to enable it, even on console 🙂 (sorry, I refuse to call it glitch building, lol)

I still need to re-make all my favourite ships again, from scratch..😢 I lost on my first game cause I was stupid enough to use creations mods, and now my save file is corrupted & that game is basically unplayable, I cannot save any new progress..😭 I went from playing on an Xbox 1 S playing via the cloud, to a clean install on brand a new Series X.. still no luck..😢 There is one more option I can try, I saw a post in some website that said to try installing Starfield on a PC, then download the save from the cloud. Apparently there's a way to possibly repair corrupted save files on PC sometimes. If successful on the PC, you make a new save, upload it to the cloud, then download that new save back to the console. It's worth a try at least, nothing to lose..🤷♂️

Modders this is what we need Nintendo's F-Zero GX customisable machines it's literally the same thing as ship building but for cars Each machine handles differently, has its own performance abilities affected by its weight, and a grip, boost, and durability trait graded on an A to E (best to worst) scale. The player is able to adjust a vehicle's balance between maximum acceleration and maximum top speed. Every machine has an energy meter, which serves two purposes. First, it is a measurement of the machine's health and is decreased from accidents or attacks from opposing racers. Second, the player is given the ability to boost. Customize mode is divided between the F-Zero Shop, Garage, and Emblem Editor. The shop is where opponent machines, custom parts for vehicle creation can be purchased with tickets. Tickets are acquired as the player progresses through the Grand Prix repeatable Story mode. In the Garage section, players can create a machine with three custom parts or print emblems on any vehicle. The parts are divided into body, cockpit, and booster categories, and affect the vehicle's overall durability, maximum speed, cornering, and acceleration. The Emblem Editor lets players create decals.
Saw this as well. Really hoping it’s true. It opens up so many build possibilities.
Anybody that has built ships using glitched pieces and actually used them for any significant amount of time knows exactly why it was patched.
Anyone else trying to make their ship also a giant ramp now or is it just me?
Enable god mode for infinite boost on the buggy
@@akosacs01 ? I want a ramp, my ship can fly - the buggy doesn't need to as well lol
Would be a lot cooler if you did it on the buggy
@@akosacs01 I get what you're saying, but I'm already having a blast being able to jump from 1 base to another @ Fermi IX-e. Will probably just make something in CK to bypass the need for godmode once the luster wears off.
Seems useful for finding an island for a base.
Thanks to Ship Building Tweaks mod. No way Bethesda will bring it back, but I wish they'd try to integrate overlapping parts into vanilla as a feature.
Using Mods should have been a Disqualified Factor.. Using Glitches are okay in the game but not in Competitions that is hosted by Bethesda..
Flip Merge LIVES!
Everyone should complain to Bethesda for ruining the ship builder.
Knowing Bethesda they'll release the glitch building as a creation club content item to sell back to us, just like they did with weapon holsters
I'm all for Fixing Glitches and making the game more internally consistent.
If you want more build variety just use Mods.
Simple 😊
Be aware that some of the ships from the base game you can buy or capture ingame use glitches. So by that logic Bethesda also would have to change these ships or remove them.
The inconvenient truth is all the ship building mods suck
@@crazy-tommy Those weren't built using glitches; the Beth designers just have a different UI that is unrestricted. -they didn't have to rely on glitches at all, they just have a master cheat mode.
@@adriansue8955 The result is still exactly the same. It's a glitched build, so if you move a ship part with merged collision you can't just put it back.
Definitely a bummer but thank goodness for mods. I'm just happy that our previous builds are still ok.
Thanks for this video. I couldn’t figure out why my ships are now broken.

On the note of bathesda "promoting" the winners for there glitches and such. Its a tactic to get the audience to do the bug testing for you, and to reward the players with the most unique and function gitches. Encouraging the players to think out side of the box during creations, outside the box which developers may not have thought of during creation. Its one of the many ways developers receive feedback for the games.
i could probably listen you talk about paint drying and how gloss dries faster than satin or something like that lol. It's super relaxing. I'm sorry you didn't win the contest, but congrats on making it as far as you did...handicapped imo no less. Still, great job, dude.
My game keeps crashing after a while with the new update. Anyone else?
Mine has actually been more stable on Xbox if you use mods it could be one of those. I had the same issue with modded Skyrim it kept crashing all the time went through my mod load out and discovered it was a simple make plants 3D mod that was conflicting with another mod. Turned off the mod and the whole game stabilized.
We are indeed making it work. The new mod looks very interesting
If you cant Build good Ships without Glitches than its dead for you yeah otherwise its fine
It’s so stupid to fix a harmless glitch that people enjoy using in a single player game.
Glitch could be causing other problems.
@@TheBlakamon15like what? For who? Again, it’s a single player game… If people are using it and not having any issues with it then why get rid of it? People glitch building isn’t affecting anyone else’s game.
Another crybaby
@@KidAndretti really? Was I crying? Just making a statement my little keyboard warrior. I personally never got into the shipbuilding and haven’t even used the glitches. Just saying it’s stupid to change something that’s not affecting anyone else.
Sure if you consider having your ship break into a hundred pieces upon taking off or undocking and becoming inoperable as harmless.
I’ve not done any building just modding the ships theatre given like the star eagle and such. The glitches are no problem for me
"Ship Part Merging Enabled" will fix the game and allow merging again or any other mod that changes overlap tolerance
Saw this too! So great! This game keeps getting better
in what ship you can do te buggy for transport
There are always ways to pull this off; they just aren't as convenient as this method was.
The buggys fun but, I'd give it up in a heartbeat to get the flip back.
As a single player game stuff like this shouldn't be patched
Lol I love that you're using the technician to talk lol🎉🎉🎉
I would have said glitching was a bug. However, I came across a ship that was a glitch build in vanilla, I think it was a Valentine.
Peds get crazy when you drive near them like its a terramorph, they run around and screams
Edit, 5h after published: Added info to mouse steering and fixed a few typos
Sadly Starfield is very poorly designed for kbm. I haven't trued the buggy yet but this was even true with the ships on release.
Another great video brother keep up the great work🎉
I spent huge chunks of summer vacation building glitched ships for three characters.
Glitches are bugs, fixing bugs is Bethesdas job. There is no 'entitlement' to keep them, use at your own risk.
Eh no problem, we have a mod for that
I didn’t update the game. Not until this is addressed by modders. Or BGS gives more creative ways to build our ships. But honestly I don’t think it’ll be the same 😢.
You can update the game and still glithbuild i think its when i purchased the actual buggy it happens
i dont use mods until the achievements are collected because they unjustly disable them, so the flip glitch and dupe glitch were a nice thing in the game, also considering about the only content i see on youtube is ship building, it was something that kept the game which is effectively on life support going, so to change it in any way with out offering something like more parts or allowing us to rotate and flip parts that already exist that they clearly forgot to give that function to in the beginning is a bit of a slap in the face to ship building community. a buggy to travel round on planets largely devoid of anything interesting " ooo look procedurally generated rock " isn't enough with the vast distance between the locations anyway the buggy should of been something in the game from day, so this update as a whole as usual feels like one step forward and two steps back
Just use the mod that enables achievements with mods.

The drop glitch doesn't work either
I see it as a bugfix and I don't mind them removing glitch building. Having glitches in the base game just feels amateurish. I know, bethesda is famous for their bugs, but still. Players who want it can simply install shipbuilding mods that do a better job of it anyway.
You complain because they fixed a bug? All this hype about shipbuilding with glitches is childish!
I hope this was done to accommodate all the new ship parts coming with shattered space😂 please Bethesda, make va’ruun ship building good
For the longest time, NO ONE HAD IT. Why cry about it.

Nothings changed for ship building. With this update. They broke a lot of the mods. As well as texture rendering.
Wow people get mad at bugs and now they’re getting mad a fixing bugs
Creation club has almost all the best mods on it for boath platforms.
No
I think they used the contest to ferret out glitches in ship building to patch out lol. Ok maybe that’s not true but, with Bethesda you never know with that squirrelly bunch lol
Mods will fix the 'patched' 'glitch'
Also what happened to your ship yard
I tried it, and it doesn't work.
This SUCKS!!!
Which mods help with it?
Bro if you think that the fo4 update wasn’t asked for your the one out of touch. From the moment it was even rumoured people were all over it
You own legendary encounter, nice!
I have a mod that should go up tonight for those who like merging to enable it, even on console 🙂 (sorry, I refuse to call it glitch building, lol)
That’s awesome! How does it accomplish the merge?
So you were the one that made that mod? I used it. Works flawlessly if that was you.
"Ship part merging enabled" correct?
Ship building is far from dead trust me!
I still need to re-make all my favourite ships again, from scratch..😢

There is one more option I can try, I saw a post in some website that said to try installing Starfield on a PC, then download the save from the cloud.
Apparently there's a way to possibly repair corrupted save files on PC sometimes.
If successful on the PC, you make a new save, upload it to the cloud, then download that new save back to the console.
It's worth a try at least, nothing to lose..🤷♂️

The use of glitches simply shows a lack of imagination. Use the tools and build awesome ships.
Modders this is what we need Nintendo's F-Zero GX customisable machines it's literally the same thing as ship building but for cars
Each machine handles differently, has its own performance abilities affected by its weight, and a grip, boost, and durability trait graded on an A to E (best to worst) scale.

I completely used Glitchbuilding in the Game. Around 100 Hours alone just in the Ship builder. Optimizing details, changeig stuff. Haven't played for months, but i would love to again now ith the new Update. I am afraid, that my main ship, that is perfect to me as it is, will be broken when loading in. Or accidentally Changeing something and saving it. :D Yeah Mods. But these rely on the people that build them because they need Upgrading.
I never had issues in more than 300 Hours around Release. There was nothing not working as intended. It was better.
