I've been enjoying a build i call the War Pally.
    5 Fighter - riposte,precision,surge,fighting style
2 Pally - just for divine smite - afaik charisma does not scale or increase divine smite damage, or give enough spell slots.
5 War cleric - War priest tokens are awesome for extra attacks, and you'll get additional spell slots and buffs/summon. Spiritual guardian's too.
So essentially 2 attacks normally, war priest tokens to fuel more attacks, surge, and fighter die utility.
Something like 17 str / 16 con /14 dex as the focus.

the absolute strongest possible paladin is 2 vengeance paladin, 6 college of swords bard, 4 storm sorcerer. can slashing flourish to do multiple smites in one attack, mobile flourish smite to move enemies around, defensive flourish smite to add ac, not to mention the extra 1d8 damage added with every flourish. shield reaction spell for even more ac, plenty of high level spell slots, up to 46 ac, and the ability to fly after a smite to go anywhere without taking an attack of opportunity, and the ability to quicken spell crowd control. there is literally no stronger paladin in honor mode.

Worth mentioning that if you go Oathbreaker you cant respec without first retaking your oath. (which costs 1k gold) and then breaking it again. Its a lot of faff and expense just to shuffle a few attributes around that no other class has to deal with.

I’m dealing with this right now. I wanted to multiclass into warlock then respec to use charisma instead of strength but then I’d have to break my oath again to keep the build I want. It’s such a hassle I might just keep oathbreaker and deal with a less optimized build

  • @jimmyc3095

I did a 5 warlock (pact of the blade) and 7 Vengeance Paladin. Took a great weapon master feat, so as long as you get one kill or crit, you can make 4 attacks per turn, not including smites. Throw on a bloodlust elixir and that’s 7 attacks per turn with a crit/kill. The bound hammer that Dammon sells in act 2 is amazing for that and I still use it in act 3. Add the drake glaive buff to it, and your weapon is just insane.

I’d like to make an honorable mention for barb multiclassing. You can use heavy armour and forget rage for high ac but take 2 levels purely for reckless attack. Enemies are more likely to attack you when they have advantage but you still have a high ac! Making an effective tank that lands a ton of heavy hits with GWM.

Just saw your video i noticed pact of the blade charisma doesnt stack damage with str for damage anymore and i made the mistake of being an oath breaker and already respeccing once and breaking the oath yet again ... this and great weapon master i lose 3 pts to hit and end up losing damage, does the extra attk with pact weapon later with warlock need to have pact weapon up or can i get away without pacting my weapon and still getting my third strike cause well this would make up for the damage if i can get all 3 attks off?

At the risk of passing on the dreaded altitis infection, go wild. There's very few multiclass combinations that are truly bad and you can always use Withers to respec if something really isn't working for you. The game even has an Achievement called Jack of All Trades for having a character with one level in each class without respeccing, so don't be afraid to try something crazy.
Think of your favourite superhero or something, then go to Withers and re-spec some Hirelings a few times, using BG3 wiki class pages as a guide, and figure out which class combo comes closest to your concept. Then go and start yet another new game, only to think of a new idea and start the whole damn process over.

Depends on how you look at it. From a tabletop perspective, they shouldn't stack so that they do is a bug which is fixed in honour mode. But you could also see it as either a House rule or an unintended stacking that Larian liked but wanted to nerf for honour mode.

If we ignore Baldur's Gate rules, Paladin + Cleric will be the most linear combination. In some games, Cleric is even designed as lower level version of Paladin. But because Baldur's Gate or DnD in general use 3 different mental type as spellcasting atttibute while Cleric and Paladin have different spellcasting attribute, combining them both needs more and more consideration and strategy. One of strategies that I can think of is the use of elixir of hill/cloud giant strength.

The bonuses past level 2 are not really as good as getting divine smite, and sind swords bard is a martial subclass Bard 10 Paladin 2 is my submission fot best mix, giving you extra attack, magical secrets, flourishes, and the maximum level 11 caster (6th level spell slot) for your divine smites on top of bard's full suite of control spells
Or if you want all things to scale off charisma sword bard 6 blade warlock 4 paladin 2 is also fantastic, or if you want aura of hate paladin 7 blade warlock 4 war cleric 1 is a good dip to grant 3 attacks as a bonus action per long rest

One thing where BG3 really falls behind, is showing what you'll be getting later on creation/level up. Right at the beginning of the video, when you're showing off Healing Radience is a PRIME example of this.
How in the EVER LOVING FUCK is a new player supposed to know what this is going to be doing later without having to go reach for an outside source? There's absolutely NOTHING on that card that shows anything about a per level, or proficiency bonus. Beyond that, you have no clue what a given class will be getting at 3rd, or 6th, or Nth level.

I absolutely agree and a way of seeing what you achieve in the progression of a class I feel would encourage a lot of players to try out new or different classes as well. I always preferred something more simple after running a hexblade paladin in regular dnd. Warlock Paladins and sorcerer paladins sound really cool on paper but they usually end up being extremely "bloated" in the sense that they end up having so much shit that they can do that you'll either never use a lot of their capabilities or you'll only rarely use some features of the multiclass. In short, you end up with TOO many options which isnt always a good thing.
Paladin is extremely easy to multiclass into but really hard to multiclass out of because it's such a strong class.
Personally I prefer going eldritch knight fighter for 5 levels, taking 2 levels into Paladin for smite, then finishing the next 5 levels as a fighter when it comes to bg3.
That way you get access to more than enough spells and you're essentially playing as a paladin that can smite multiple times in a turn if you take Great weapon master.

    • @marcosdheleno
      @marcosdheleno 5 месяцев назад

man i hate eldritch knight, its a class that makes no sense to me.
its a wizard fighter(using int for spells), but its called eldritch, which is associated with warlocks(who use charisma instead)
they should've named it something diferent, like magic knight, or spellblade.
also they are forced to become too thin on the spread sheet, because they have to focus on so many diferent attributes.
one of the biggest problems i have is that, bound weapon doesnt work like pact of the blade for them. which IT SHOULD. allowing them to disregard str and dex and using int for attacks instead.
i can garantee, that if they were given that trait, ALOT MORE people would pick them. it would also be nice if they had flame blade. a spell that feels made for them, but that they dont get access to because its druid exclusive.
imagine, if they would get a choice of summoned weapon, they could pick? flame blade, or ice rapier, stone hammer, lightning spear, and so on. they could pick one, and that would be their bound weapon instead. and as they level the class, the weapon would become stronger as well.

There is actually a best though: 10 Bard/2 Paladin. It's objectively the strongest of the bunch when playing on Honor Mode (no pact of the blade stacking). Vengeance is also the best Paladin with that combination, not Ancients. Sword Bard is way stronger with this multi as well. It does massive damage and can basically carry your group, and it also does CC rather well.

A build I can recommend with a Paladin is a 5/2/5 Multiclass. It's not as powerful in Honor mode, but it's a crit fishing damage stacker.
Githyanki(this is important for Gith Weapons, which gives you +1d4 or +1d6 psychic with your weapon.
2 levels in Paladin( you can start as warlock, but it's very useful to multiclass out of the paladin for that heavy armor proficiency)
5 Levels of Warlock, great old one with a pact of the blade subclass.
5 Fighter, Champion for that 5% crit chance enhancement.
Stack everything that gives your damage an additional damage die.
With crit equipment you can crit on a 16 which can give you up to 10d6+charisma even before your smite. 8d8 for a level 3 smite.
Your equipment has 3 keystone items, risky ring, Reaper's embrace and the speedy lightfeet. Everything else is just to contribute to your damage like the ring of regeneration and broodmother's revenge combo. With the helldusk gloves you have 2d6 slashing, 1d6 psychic, 1d6 fire and 1d6 poison. And when you only smite on crit with great weapon fighting style and savage attacker you can get frankly unreasonable amounts of damage out of one attack. Of course with only 4 spell slots your number of smites is somewhat limited but it's a quality over quantity approach with that one.

This is barely a Paladin build, but my favorite build with Paladin is 4 Vengeance Paladin/ 6 Sword Bard/ Two Sorcerer
This is a dex Paladin that wields two crit boosting weapons, a crit boosting bow and helm.
With these items and advantage (which you get for free with vow of enmity) you have about a 50% crit chance, and can attack three times per round with your offhand.
If you do this you should get the savage attacker feat which rerolls damage dice (including smite) for the beefiest crits
Sorcerer is there because smite only scales up to Lv.4 slots so you can use SP and spell slot items to get the most usable spell slots for smite
