@Roonayy depends on your stats and class u can also find gear that buffs a certain elements dmg with additional dmg. Its only mid
because you dont know what your doing.
My dragon born is acid . I have gloves that buff any acid dmg i do as well as my weapons do a additional 6/12 acid dmg with any weapons strike on top of the dmg it already does . Boots that also boost any acid dmg i do and accessories. I miss out on stat boosting gear but its np when my acid breath and weapons can melt 3 to 4 enemies at a time with crits i can one shot bosses. You simply dont understand but its not the games nor the attacks fault buddy . This is a big brain game with limitless potential to make anything deadly. Just requires a brain :p

@@GodlsAFKby definition that still makes it mid homeboy.
I can make a build around killing things by throwing arena objects or enemies at each other. It can be done. Does not make it a good way to play. It just makes it doable. Same goes for breath attacks.
I don't need to niche hunt items, stat allocate, or play around with having extra movement, or better critical hits from a few other classes. I can just do it without having to do something that's tedious.
Also, don't confuse being intelligent and having game knowledge. It doesn't take a big brain to combo items if you know how they interact, or hell that something in early act two can be factored in before you get there. It just means you have played/ spoiled the game in order to achieve a goal you already had pre determined. People are not stupid for not knowing. It's just ignorance. And to new players, they're not going to see any kind of tangible benefit to pursuing something just outright significantly more tedious to work in than say, a gith getting misty step at around the same time.

Heavy and medium armour usage for flexibility, great user for many of the melee combat feats because smites are really strong due to their high damage output AND utililty, they can output really high melee healing relative to level throughout the game, can fit into any role apart from solo support and ranged caster (yes I would argue you can build a half decent DEX Finesse Paladin utilizing duellist mechanics! I used a bruiser tank Paladin so I was very tanky whilst producing a ton of damage (if you're familiar with LoL, think of Urgot or Warwick). Paladin in my opinion is the best frontline class to use if you want to have a hybrid support in your party such as a support, tank, utility cleric or a similarly built druid. I do suppose that Paladin could have too many options for a beginner however even if you keep it simple, they are still super strong simply do to their passives and smites you gain access to

One thing to consider when playing a paladin. Originally you can pick a deity with your paladin, there are dialogue options for it. There is a mod that re unlocks it so you can have those dialogue choices

Very helpful. New to BG, and DnD. Back in the day I really loved Dragon Age (I bought all 3 in a steam bundle and have yet to get back into it, not even installed). I’ve found myself save scumming like crazy with BG3. It’s a game, I paid $60, I’m gonna get the outcomes I want. What was annoying to figure out with Oath of Ancients paladin, you can’t kill specific enemies, even if they attack you. Like I’m Goblin Camp, the two you find after the Owlbear attack them, if you kill them yourself in goblin camp, you break your oath. I had to reload and fight it again so I wouldn’t break it. I was frustrated and called in the ogres, definitely paid them to stay with me. Anyhow, it’s been a lot of fun. I went human fighter at first, got to the under dark and decided to start over. High elf paladin. I don’t really know what I’m doing when it comes to skill checks. This was very helpful, I will definitely be visiting Withers momentarily to respec.

An unfortunate thing about the Oathbreaker Paladin's Aura of Hate is that it specifically states that it adds to the *melee weapon attacks* of undead. This means that zombie fist attacks and skeleton arrows do NOT get the bonus from the aura. I'm hoping that this is a bug that they can patch at some point, rather than rules as intended, because I was soooooo disappointed when I discovered this

[edit] Also, why start with 17 STR and 15 CHA? Is that from your DnD days? In BG3, you're better off going 16/16 and getting that benefit to CHA. At level 4, you'll be at 18/16 anyway, without losing the CHA (persuasion, trading, etc.) benefits early on.

Question about dialogue encounters & approval:
If you have one of your companions conduct the dialogue .. let's say you choose NOT to run as a Paladin, so your build has low Charisma ..
Obviously, you will need some help with dialogues ..
.. will your own custom character still get the approval of the other companions, who are currently nearby ?
Or, must your own specific Character conduct the dialogue encounter (& subsequent dice rolls) for their approval?
Apologies if this seems a bit obvious; but there are game mechanics which often seem a bit counterintuitive.

In 20ish years of playing D&D, Paladin has been the class I never play. Their oath really restricts the "lawful neutral" playstyle I like. Even if they pack a massive punch, I dont think I'll ever this class in BG3 unless I want an Oathbreaker/Necromancer.

    • @Lahk1
      @Lahk1 Год назад +2

I think Oath of Vengeance is pretty morally ambiguous. See the movie Law Abiding Citizen - guy does some dark shit for the sake of vengeance. A lot of westerns probably fit the bill too - like Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven as example.
If you can't roleplay a neutral character devoted to the idea of vengeance for some slight, I don't think you're trying very hard. Some freak put a parasite in my brain and I'm gonna turn into a monster in a few days? You bet your ass vengeance is on my mind, to the point I couldn't care less about anything else unless it helps me make those f'ers pay.

7 levels into oathbreaker for the +4 dmg aura. and then 5 levels into pact of the blade for extra attack is pretty popular.
I went with 10 tempest cleric 2 oathbreaker paladin for mainly thunderous smite in combination with max dmg. Did around 250 dmg late game so that was pretty funny. I like to call it my One Smack Man.

I was thinking of multiclassing Shadowheart so that she'd be a good girl with a very dark streak (I am still in act 1) but it seems she's been brainwashed by Sharitans, no?
She starts as a cleric so I made her life domain healer but she drifts into necromancy. I think I'll make her a paladin oathbreaker and go heavy into necro magic and we'l see what happens.
When she awakens (?), as maybe some story spoiler suggest, she can always restore her oath of devotion. Man, this gurl she really mixed up.

14:34 Video game RPG's are severely lacking in actual RP systems that utilise character (by true definition). It wouldn't hurt for studios to implement this stuff from tabletop more often. Having to choose a negative and positive characteristic in "character" creation would be nice.
If you look at something like Skyrim for example: Actual character has barely any input in the game and decisions are almost exclusively made by the player. In comparison, Disco Elysium minimises the tendency to put stats first and even completely removes the utterly pointless "pick a haicut" BS, in favour of being character driven.
Lots of publishers have pushed for Role-playing elements but most games fail to achieve anything close, which is in turn creating a false perception of what the genre is.
Hopefully before AI destroys the planet, we at least get some proper role-playing games out of it :)

Dragonborn's color does not have any meaning in the game nor in D&D. A half dragon is a completely different race, and with that race the colors do matter. Like, a red half dragon means trouble. Dragonborn's aren't even related to dragons in any way, they were created to serve dragons but share no ancestry with them. Half dragons do.
