I like how T'Challa tries to convince Killmonger to stand down, and Killmonger's reply is basically, "Dude, my life's mission is literally to kill you"
“The only reason im in this game is for your head”
hi
@@joshuasweeney7864 t'challa: woah, I never knew you were into that mate.
I Thought Zuri Was Immortal.
Just like kang and sylvie 😅
"I'll take you both Uncle James"
That line really hit a mark for me, it shows how this was not just showing vengeance against a man for killing his father, but that it was a FAMILY member that caused it. His literal family tree betraying and out casting him.
Right. I still think T’Chaka is a great king for his people, but his greatest mistake isn’t Klaue, it’s him abandoning his own bloodline, and the consequences of that is in this movie and Wakanda Forever.
King T'chaka had to abandon killmonger. Eric's dad gave the secrets to wakandan vibranium. It resulted in the deaths of many!! Moreover that vibranium possessed by Ulysses klaue was also the reason why Sokovia got devasted!!!
He had abandoned a traitor and his son. Need not sympathise with killmonger, but yeah, Zuri and T'chaka should have told everyone the truth including killmonger. That way T'challa needn't had to fight a duel with him!!!
@@rohitjayaprakash1612 I mean in a way, you do have to understand both sides. T'Chaka didn't want Vibranium to be fallen in the wrong hands because of what America has done in the past, his brother wanted to help other African Americans, but the difference is he wanted to make Black folks on top on the world, that's why Killmonger wanted that global race war, to take back what's theirs, but it will resolve in more chaos and conflict. That's why they had to stop Killmonger, because if he succussed, millions of people would die, especially at the hands of Vibranium all because he wants to make his people on top, he was just as bad as his ancestors' oppressors. So, in the end they both got what they wanted, Killmonger wanted Wakanda to help people, and T'Challa wanted to help people peacefully and equal.
Yes
They lost my sympathy when they decided an “outsider” sat on the throne, despite his bloodline smh
This battle was better than their final battle.

4:22 I like how Okoye(top right) doesn't salute Killmonger like the others do, shows the amount of love and respect that she has for T'Challa and only saw him as the rightful King of Wakanda
Yep, she was in a tough spot, she was loyal to T'Challa and knew Killmonger wasn't fit to be a king, but it was also her duty to serve the throne no matter who sat on it.
Also shows she was _against_ tradition and rules, a conflict of interest.
Nah she didn’t have to cross her arms because there was doubt that he’d be alive and at the end of the day she was right
Love how everyone shows the sign of respect in the end EXCEPT Okoye, such a small detail that goes almost unnoticed but adds SO MUCH to the characters! Amazing writing.
bro i didn't even notice that! her loyalty to the king/black panther lives on!
Imagine if they fought in Their Suits.
Great observation!
@@Victhehomie Nothing would happen. Literally, the suits make them both virtually invincible... they wouldn't even get tired.

@@gymweeb9229 The fight wasnt just about who gets to live, it was more about the outcome of who wins. Tchallas defeat did bring many questions and uncertainties of what would happen next
"Nah, I'm your king." Such a simple yet sick line. I loved how he even wiped his hands after he threw T'Challa into the waterfall then stared everybody down when he finished. That man was out for blood!
Loved it! And best part, none could deny he had reason to feel that way.
Nightmare fuel tropes.
3:57
I love how Killmonger details his relentless path to this moment, then he takes off his gear to show his marks. T’Challa realizes what they mean and his reaction is priceless
Huh? Blank expression still.
@Muntather Aldamok Talking about his facial expression at that moment.
There's no expression. Stop making things up, watch the clip and go.
The reason why T’Challa lost is because he didn’t want to kill like killmonger. He had many opportunities but he didn’t want to.
Facs
Exactly. Someone gets it. T'Challa wasnt fighting to kill while killmonger was. T'Challa kept sparing him many times during that fight when he had the chance to kill him. T'Challa kept showing mercy and killmonger didnt care and proceeded to try and kill him thats why T'Challa lost.
T'Challa wasn't built for that life nor did he experience what Killmonger endured
It was a diplomat vs a trained killer.
Yeah like 1:38, T’challas’s “Yield!”. If T’challa was aiming for the kill he would’ve just pierced that blade when Killmonger was down instead of shouting Yield.
True
For those that don't agree with the T'challa wasn't fighting to kill and let him win theory. Watch the scene where he cuts his face. They slowed it down for a reason so you could see he could've just slit the throat if he wanted. You could see the reaction of the dude in the next frame like "hmm" showing that he knew he could've ended it right then and there if he was actually serious. Not to mention the part when he actually gets him on the ground which is basically GG. When you fighting somebody in defense only and they trying to full force kill you and you don't hit back, You're eventually going to lose no matter what happens just based off of chance and circumstance
That makes sense to me. After all, he accepted the challenge to show he was not afraid and was being merciful. He even said he could have killed him when they brought him in.
Thier weapon choice also symbolizes the fact T’Challa was conflicted and didn’t want to kill Kilmonger. Him using a shield and a spear showing that while he knows he might have to kill kilmonger, he also wants to try and help him and find another way while kilmonger goes for dual blades to constantly be on the offensive showing that he only sees one way to end this.
@@senjumix2710 hahaha nah he just lost. Doesn't deserve to be BP.
I think you're overthinking. He was going for the head and as Kilmonger moved, it his his face.
nah. in every fight scene of main protagonist and antagonist, nobody dies when they're put on the ground. they just dodge the incoming attack and stand back up. killmonger showed speed and reflexes that says he would've dodge it if he was attacked when he was down. tchalla was using a shield not because he's conflicted but because his opponent is using dual blades. that "hmm" was basically just "finally, someone actually started bleeding". killmonger would've made a better king. he showed that he was superior in combat and he wanted to liberate his people instead of keeping all that riches while his fellow black people are out there struggling

Bruh
This is still my favorite fight. The scenery, the characters, the story, and the cinematography are all perfect. Phase 3 was peak marvel
I like how it shows that T'Challa was overall the superior fighter, but he was playing a losing game due to being conflicted about whether he should kill Killmonger or not.
T'Challa knocks Killmonger over very quickly, but tries to get Killmonger to yield instead either finishing the fight or continuing to pressure him, allowing Killmonger to get up and continue fighting. He also draws first blood and cuts Killmonger's cheek.
Killmonger on the other hand, knocks T'Challa down and continues to try and kill him, leading to him to seriously wound him. T'Challa may be able to win instances against Killmonger, but he could never finish the fight because of his hesitancy to kill Killmonger. Killmonger on the other hand only need one good strike to win because he had no hesitation killing him once he got the chance.

T'Challa had a disadvantage in that he did not fight to kill. He could have several times, but he didn't.
He chose to fight that way knowing killmonger wouldn't. It was a desired disadvantage, his fault and almost costs him his life.
Both of you were right

3:58 Great performance by Angela Bassett there. You can really see how she's both distraught over the death of her son and enraged by the sight of his killer at the same time.
3:20 Also props to Letitia Wright for how she plays Shuri. For most of the movie she has a very snarky, almost competitive relationship with T'Challa. But here when his life is in danger she shows that she not only loves him, but loves him ALOT.
Honestly this whole scene is carried by the reactions of T'Challa's loved ones. Since we as an audience know that there's no way he really dies here, it's their distress that sells the scene.

When someone loses their super strength, that's gotta throw off their fighting game. I think that's a huge disadvantage to go through that moments earlier.
I think the whole point is that the black panther shouldn't need powers to beat amy opponent of wakanda. To me they see the black panther as a literal representation of Bast. No matter what disadvantages the black panther has they're supposed to overcome them.
@@noahidk8925 I think you missed my point. If a Black Panther can beat anyone with any disadvantage given to him, then why not tie his hands? I understand why they de-power him, but giving him zero adjustment time is unfair in a death fight.
its fighting to kill vs fighting to just win big difference in mentality
@@MrGriff305 Yeah, the dude is accustomed to not feel punches, to be super fast, to be able to dodge and strike back way faster. @@MrGriff305 doesn’t matter if he yielded, there was interference in tchallas favor after a pretty clear defeat therefore he “cheated” though unintentionally
To be honest we can blame the purple hooded guy ( sorry I can't remember his name I haven't watched this for so long :] ) for tchalla to loose the throne because with the purple guy dead tchalla didn't put any effort so we have purple guy to blame..

This was actually not a fair fight because T’Challa was trying to win without killing him, but Killmonger was trying to, it was when Zuri died that T’Challa had the killer instinct to kill Killmonger, but he was too injured to do so. In their final battle they both tried to kill each other, meaning they were gonna use all their effort, finally making it a fair fight
I like Killmonger’s attitude and confidence the man said all I need is T’Challa and someone to remove this chains. I ain’t here to sell tickets to our death match let’s do it here and now just the two of us.

When this first came out at the movies, everybody in the theater young or old gasped, and it was silent when he threw Black Panther over in the water!
So, instead of stabbing him like he initially planned, he instead was like “nah lemme just throw him into the water where he has a higher chance of surviving” brilliant
In a way, it kinda makes sense when we look at this from Killmonger's perspective. At that point it wasn't just about killing him, it was about putting on a show or sending a message, if you will. By killing him in that way, it was more dramatic and thus the message would be stronger.
