    I am not saying the loss of Chadwick was a good thing but I do think Shuri becoming Black Panther fits the wider theme of phase 4. That of loss and the weight of legacy leading into great people becoming hero’s. I really like this movie and think the team achieved their goal of wanting to honor Chadwick in the way they wanted.

    Can we just appreciate M'baku for second his part in the movie isn't that large but it very vital. He steps in as a mentor figure for this broken lost girl. He counsels her and supports her choices even when he doesn't believe they are the right ones. I think this is why she hands the throne over to him st the end of the moive. She knows he will care for wakanada well, and will step aside if she's ever ready to become queen.

      M'Baku's arc was so, so good. They put just enough of him in the film, imo. It was more than the first film, and he really grew into a surrogate brother, more a leader, and wise counsel. Not saying you are, but not everything can be measured in screen time (I'm talking about the ones who complained about it). They did him really well! His scenes with him talking to Shuri, including the test of strength, were some of my favorites.

    I also think a lot of folks forget how old Shuri is in the MCU. Producer Nate Moore said she was 16 in the first film which makes her 20 in this one. Even with the snap (5 years), that didn't affect those that got dusted. Being that young, brilliant, and now carrying the weight of losing your entire family is heavy. She's an amazing character.

    • @radguurl
      @radguurl Год назад +14

      Honestly, her age is all over the place, as some of the official things say she was 17 or 18 in the first movie. Even then, at her potential oldest, she'd be no older than 23, AT MOST (having lost 5 years due to the snap). So yeah, for Shuri to go through all of these terrible things thrown at her? Especially losing ALL of her family? It's shocking she didn't lean into the earned anger and vengeance, as most people would have. That she doesn't makes her a true hero. I love how complex of a character they let her be.

    • @user-pi9de6nq5l
      @user-pi9de6nq5l Год назад +4

      NO. She is WAY older than 20. She is around 24/23. She was born in 1997. Black panther 1 took place in 2016, making her 19 or very much about to be 19. Two years passed. Then the blip happened in 2018 making her 21. The snap brought everyone back in 2023. Black panther 2 takes place in 2026. Making shuri 24 or about 23 near to 24.

    Shuri being the new Black Panther really makes sense. She's the only one left of the family and she drank the herb to restore Wakanda and her family's legacy. She didn't do it because she wanted it but because she NEEDED to. And I like how the writers didn't automatically her a skillful fighter which is realistic. She became stronger after drinking the herb but she wasn't so much of a fighter, as you can see during the battle with the Fish People. She mostly relied on her suit. I think after T'Challa's Jr. has come of age, Shuri may pass the title to him.

    As a sister who lost her big brother, and my little brother, I deeply connect with Shuri. While yes I am more good with handling technical stuff, my brother was a leader who can bring people together. We work well together... but when my brother died I also lost half of me, and I didn't know how to function well with so many responsibilities to hold. I felt like I can't be the me again (the one I was when I'm with my brother). As much as I loved Shuri in the first movie, she did not have "main character energy," she had "funny side character energy." But I was pleasantly suprised. Even if her struggles were still defined by T'challa, she made a very good and compelling main protagonist and that solidified her as my favorite Marvel hero/heroine.

I appreciate how this film made Shuri one of the most tragic characters in the MCU cause she’s has no family with her parents and older brother dead. She only has Nakia, Prince T’Challa, M’Bku, Okoye, the Dora warriors, and IronHeart left that she can tend in the wakes of her family’s deaths. I really can't wait for the other nations to know that the black panther is back😆.... What namor said will come and I am so looking forward to what will happen now, I think he'll still help Shuri bc Shuri will definitely try her best to protect both wakanda and talokan and that will soften his heart a little

    The death of Chadwick would be a big loss of wakanda but atleast Shuri is here as the new Black Panther

    This was a great movie. I really enjoyed it. I would love for a Wakanda III under Shuri's rule and working with Namoor.

    I cried on the funeral scene for both Ta’Challa & The Queen. Shuri was very smart & inventive. When she became The Black Panther I was happy.

    Shurri is far stronger than me, if Namor asked me to burned the world I would have follow him XD
    For real though, Shurri's growth was amazing.

    Sometimes, the hardest decision to make is to choose between legacy and revenge..
    It takes so much courage to get retribution but it takes so much strength and maturity to forgive..

    YESS!!!! I was SO hoping you would do Shuri video and you delivered!! And it did not disappoint!!! Amazing work!
    EDIT: I have to add that this was so incredible to watch. I love that it's not only an examination and tribute to Shuri's character, but also pays homage to her beautiful relationship with her brother. WF did a great job, I think in letting Shuri work through the stages of grief in such a human way, and you've captured that so succinctly here. She's vengeful, angry, wracked with sorrow, and all those emotions come through so strongly. The way the music swells with certain scenes brings a tear to my eye.
    Truthfully, I am always super impressed with your videos, but this is..wow. This took the entirety of Shuri's arc in WF and condensed it into bite sized pieces without sacrificing the complexity of her character. I LOVE IT!!!!!
