I disagree. Not because I didn't like him in the role, far from it. I think the MCU has too many heroes as is but no villains that last more than one movie besides Loki. What I wish they'd done is make him a constant danger throughout the BP saga, building him up to be a bigger threat by BP3. That would give time for T'Challa to establish himself as king, settle into the role, only to have it all taken away from him. He deserved better than just being a one-off villain before being killed off.

When an actor gets into character, they become that character. He did an interview and he said "I'm not from Wakanda" and he was actually upset, because he was still in the shoes of Erik Killmonger.

He was a hurt kid, they took everything from him. And they left the poor kid behind. The kid grew up alone, he wasn’t a villain. Inside he was just a kid, full of pain and anger. That he’s own family abandoned him. And his uncle killed his father. But that death was necessary, but the huge mistake was living him behind. He was never a villain. He was just filled with anger and lost. So he took his anger out to the world.

Killmonger was honestly like... so real, it was mad, he addressed real life problems, he wasn't a bad guy, he just had bad intentions.
He didn't even have bad intentions. His methods were just disapproved of, but he wasn't talking about doing anything that colonizers hadn't already done for hundreds of years.

He is a great villain because its easy to understand why he wants to do evil things. Doesn't stop him from being a villain that needed to be stopped.
Marvel has always portrayed the heroes correctly and beyond that but when it come to Loki, Killmonger, and Thanos. They possibly did better than any of their heroes, they gave us true villains and we understand why they did what they did, for a short moment we even believed in them.
Easily one of the MCU's best characters. Not just villains, characters. So well written!!

Michael first auditioned as T'Chala, but landed as Killmonger. Idk what the hell was the casting thinking. Chad is already doing great though, But I don't doubt Michael doing much better as Black Panther.

I gotta say, watching the movie you really, really felt his anger, even after seeing all these emotional moment. You felt how righteous and enraged he was, but going back and seeing these scenes hit different. There’s no epic music. He’s not the bad guy. You see how much pain he really felt. He was broken.
