THEN, this week, I ALSO purchased the GPRB1000, with a view to keeping only one of them. I love the fact that the GPR shows you all the information you need to see, in nice large digits, without being obscured by analogue hands, and I like the GPS navigation (although I'm not sure how much use I would get out of it) and just everything about the GPR just makes so much practical sense to prefer it over the GWG. Nice, I've had mine for around two years now and pop it on frequently within my weekly rotation. I had this watch strapped to my rucksack when we went to Orkney to monitor accurate temperature readings whilst not on the wrist. It bounced around on there all week and was great company on land and out at sea. I've noticed, unless its the camera angle, but like mine I think the seconds hand is off slightly between 20 & 30 seconds and I've seen that issues a few times with this model in shop windows. Still, a cracking G Shock no doubt.
I thought my GG1000 was too big at first, but after wearing it for a while I just can’t get away from the legibility and attractiveness of it. It comes in really close to my Seiko Turtle for legibility and handsome appearance. Looking forward to the tutorial.
I used to wear a Tag Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 36 before I got my GWG-1000-1A3DR few months back. Wear it everyday, used it at altitudes above 3000mts in the Himalayas, temperatures below -6 degrees, pressed the buttons under water, used the barometer under water and always experimenting with it. Planning to sell my TagHeuer soon. This one beats this one beats them all. I can’t even describe all the amazing functions it does. Shop around. They van be had for around $500. But beware keeps of imitations. Look on RUclips to easily spot the differences. One main difference is the packaging. The watch is packaged in an aluminum, 5 sided “box” and that’s inside a cardboard box. You can freeze the watch in a block of ice overnight, then put that ice block in a pot of boiling water. Once it melts, you will see it is running perfectly. Lastly, this watch will keep the EXACT time, to the 1/2 SECOND, every YEAR, without me doing anything. Between the GPS communication AND the nuclear times put out by spots all over the world, it stays perfectly on time. Being a G-Shock, it’s obviously shockproof. The amount of functions it provides is incredible, but again make POSITIVE you are buying the correct, authentic Casio, Master of G, Mudmaster. I was living “off grid” once and I attached it to the bottom of theJeep Grand Cherokee. I ran it through rocks and underwater across a 20’ “stream”. Not only did it come out working fine, the sapphire crystal had ZERO scratches on it. Truly “bulletproof”. Great choice!!!
I have the GWG-1000-1A3. I disagree on the crown being a pain. Most of the direct functions are in the other sealed button's and unscrewing / screwing of the crown isn't arduous in my opinion. I love just about everything about this watch. My only criticism would be the glow feature. My other watch (non Casio) has Tritium, which is excellent as it's a permanent light source with a sharp glow. I really wish that Casio could have encorporated this or made it an option version on the G Shock range....
I’ve always like this one, i never bought one because i have a protrek around the same size and as a mailman, it keeps getting in the way when i stick my hand into mailboxes and what not, i wear a square g shock because of that and much better for what i do, then again these mudmasters look awesome 👏🏼
It's gorgeous. I almost bought it BUT... The Rangeman (GW-9400) Also has sunrise / sunset, is smaller, has a recording capacity of FORTY LOGS (not 30), A Stopwatch w/Direct Access Measuring capacity of: 999:59'59.99" hours (not 24 hrs)and is digital ONLY so no chance of analog breakage (tougher). AND is $191.00 To me, the 9400 has it beaten.
Great video as always but one advantage of the screw down crown instead of a button in the middle for me is that I don't end up operating it accidentally when I bend my wrist back. I have an old Casio Protrek PRW-5000 which, although a totally superb watch, I end up looking at the barometer instead of the date which I've already set it too in time mode when I bend my wrist back leaning on a counter or such like (I have the same problem with a GW-9400 which I also own). I have very large wrists and I don't know if this is a problem other people have had, but this new mudmaster is about as perfect as it gets for this very irritating problem I have had has now been eliminated. Plus the fact it's extremely tough.
@@WatchGeek I know but It does happen on the rangeman - the two lugs either side of the big middle button I hoped would prevent this as its my favorite watch but unfortunately not. I had seen a video a while back when it happend to somebody else with large wrists. I wear mine with the face at the bottom of my wrist which eliminates the problem but I do prefer it on top.
Just ordered mine. I have 'skinny' wrists but very large long lankey hands.... Popeye forearms. But a 4" section of skinny wrists. I hope it fits well. I've worn cheaper G-SHOCKs a decade ago + when I was in Jr high /high school etc and they were OK. But this GWG 1000 is by far the fanciest Casio I've ever purchased. But with the Enduro offroad racing and 'outdoor lifestyle' I think it will be the ticket. Could have gone with a cheaper timepiece, but I wanted something nice and different. To treat myself I guess
I have this one, can you make a review to show the difference between the latest design. I’m kinda curious to see them side by side. Because, the latest design is growing on me day by day, having the desire to get it.
It's a beauty. It's on my wish list but might get the Rangeman 9400 instead. One thing that bugs me about the watch is how the Barometer dial cuts into the 9. Sounds dumb but it drives me crazy lol
My vato, you left me in suspense. Truly great review of the pros and cons, but you teased its "not the best g-shock you have reviewed"...without giving a link or comment to the best one in your opinion.
I totally agree with you about the screw down crown...it is very irritating and unpractical to keep unscrewing the dam thing to set a operate basic functions...they should have designated that for time settings and thats it!
Great review (AND two part tutorial - thank you). Agree with your excellent review, except, purely as a personal thing, I LOVE oversized chunky watches, partly because of the aesthetics, but mainly because I love a watch that I can read the time without having to put my spectacles on. I would have preferred (again, a personal thing related to my aging and failing eyesight) a positive display panel - I absolutely HATE negative displays - style over practicality. I totally agree with you about the silly crown, having to unscrew it to make simple adjustments, AND having to remember to screw it in again so I don't drown the inside of the watch. The only other criticism I have with it (almost, but not quite, to the point of being a deal breaker) was the fact that in one of their most expensive G-Shocks, in which they've thrown everything into it other than a kitchen sink, they've put a paltry 60 minute countdown timer, when many of Casio's much cheaper watches have 24 hour timers (and often a 41 day (1,000 hour) stopwatch). But anyway, like I said, GREAT review and WONDERFUL tutorials, thank you again. 🙂
Great intro & review! I may have missed this but I assume your favorite is the quad-sensor Gulfmaster? The only thing that held me back from buying the quad-sensor was the issues I read from owners.
Hi! I watched all your videos regarding GWG-1000 and GW-9400...what do you think, besides the look, materials and price do you think is it worth the difference between these two? What is your advice? Good luck ahead with these detailed reviews, I really like them, including the video quality and explanations. Thank you!

@@petrisorw950I'm not sure what decision you made, but I would have recommended the GWG-1000 over the GW-9400 any day. Even the GW-9500 is a better option than the GW-9400, imo.

Out of all my watches, many of them Casios, I end up wearing my Muddy the most, despite many of my own perceived "imperfections." 1. Why not give us a 24 hour countdown timer, one hour is just not sufficient. 2. The negative display...gah!! When will they learn? 3. The inability to swap day/date. It's the same with all Casios. It's not a big thing to provide this feature especially since a good percentage of the world uses dd/mm. Thank you Suunto! 4. Give us the ability to have the digital display altered to a different time zone. (3rd option from home screen, top left button.) Why does anyone need the analogue and digital showing the same time? For the 24 display perhaps? You could still have that. The world time feature isn't really that effective in the real world in my opinion. 5. On the 2nd option from home screen (top left button) ditch the date, we already have that in the home screen. Give us a longer baro history. 6. Louder alarm that beeps for longer than 10 seconds, especially since it's so quiet. 7. Give us control over altimeter adjustment with the buttons like on the Rangemaster. You should not have to take off the watch to adjust this with the "winder." 8. And finally, get the hands off the digital display for all functions, not just baro, temp, compass and alti. It's so annoying that this magnificent feature is there but at times I can't read the stopwatch etc! Rant over. I love my Muddies, I have two of them but they could be so much better. Perhaps one that could be a bit user definable for complainers like me. Does anyone else feel the same about this lovely looking watch? I see that at least some of my quibbles are already shared here.
You wrote exactly what i had been wanting to say for a long time. Esp points 3 and 6. As much as Muddy looks classier of the two, I am leaning towards Rangeman GW9400.
@watchgeek would you be able to do a video on this mudmaster vs a seiko tuna sbbn031? Or if not what’s your favorite between the two & why ? Great content as usual thanks !
O recently had a tuna and it kind of disappointed me, probably because it was heavily abused, but I kind of expected more from such a hyped up watch. If it was new maybe I would have liked it more
I’m torn between the two watches but just found out that the tuna doesn’t even have a sapphire crystal & probably no ceramic bezel which also disappointed me for that price. Lol the decision continues
Owned one for two years, only thing I contend is the comment about the lume. Nowhere near Seiko standards, in fact, I barely notice the lume most of the time. Good thing it has the LED backlights.
I really like this one but that crown kind of ruins it for me but only when it comes to the timer. I think it's a function used way too often to have to unscrew the crown to get to it. Do you find it a hassle? What's your opinion on the negative display? And finally, what would be your favorite classic dial G-Shock? I got my sights set on a MTGB1000.
I just got my GWG 1000 1A1 Mudmaster about two days ago. I sold the GWG 100 that I had. I was surprised that a premium watch like the GWG 1000 came in the standard G-Shock tin can.😂😂😂
@@ala8876 To me its not worth the retail price. Its an expensive watch. If you can get it for a good price definitely go for it. It will last a lifetime.
The one problem I have with this watch after I bought one is I just can't justify buying another G-Shock, which kills the fun and thrill of hunting some more down the line lol.
@@kma86 that is so true brother ... i skipped the G-shock boutique entirely after i bought the Gold mudmaster... its been 4yrs now since i owned the black gold mudmaster and that watch is still relevant .. even after all the hocus pocus of smart watches flood the market ... its gives an aura of ruggedness just handsdown a good buy .. i really hope G-shock have all the spare parts for us to maintain this watch until Army of the Dead hit our shores 😆
I think this model will soon be updated with a newer one.It needs an STN display,a carbon fiber band and maybe a carbon reinforced plastic case like the quad gulfmaster and of course bluetooth.
I think the same. I just bought one as well as the GPR B 1000 Rangeman. I think Casio will update the Mudmaster with carbon fibre strap, sunrise and sunset and maybe gps.
This and the rangeman gw9400 IMO are THE best watches you can buy. Solar atomic cannot be beat. Very reliable and I know this from experience. I work construction and wore one for about 8 years before I retired it. It still works like the day I bought it but just wanted something different. Won’t buy any other brand
I wish I could find a simple checklist of all G-Shock watches . For instants I am looking for a three sensor G-Shock with altitude, temperature, compass and no Bluetooth. I would love to simply have a list of every G-Shock watch that offers this with nothing less. It is so hard to find exactly what I'm looking for and I have almost given up.
This is as close as you can get to what you are looking for: g-shock.jp/products/finder/ Also note that it shows only models currently in production, BUT if you toggle the include production end models it will cover EVERY GSHOCK EVER MADE 😄
@3:49 complicated AND difficult as one has to always make sure they've screwed back the crown tight enough in order to make it waterproof, which makes it hard to unscrew afterwards especially by a person that doesn't have enough strength in the fingers.
Always great reviews !!! by the way this watch sucks it does not have sunset sunrise ???...the GG-B100 Is much better more funtions a little smaller only lacks solar power which is not a big deal .

I really like the GWG-1000 but went with the GG-1000 for it's looks over a few less functions. I have this on my list along with the GSG-100-1A8 guess i'm a semi G-Shock geek. For me I do not mind missing some things for looks and always like Analog Digital mix, just me and my taste HaHa. The answer from Casio: "Dear Mr. Hristov: Thank you for your email and for your interest in our products. You have contacted the European Support Center in Norderstedt, Germany. Regarding your question, we can inform you the following: As the GWG-1000 is not a divers watch, we do not recommend the operation of buttons underwater. "
My mudmaster has been put thru hell for 2 years. It has survived exposed to an MRI machine by accident and being dropped from a 15th floor window hanging on a selfie stick trying to get an atomic time check signal. The damned thing is still ticking!
Haha great to hear, as for catching the signal, you might want to check out my video DIY ATOMIC AMPLIFIER, just type that into RUclips search. It had made many people who were not being able to sync get 100% success rate overnight

I saw a video of one vlogger saying if he sees that watch on some elses hand it will make for a good laughs but to each their own. As always keep up the great work. Thank you.
@2:58 how about the negative LCD display which is very difficult to read unless there's a lot of light over it? Why did they choose a negative one? Thank you.

A square is still my favorite G-Shock
Watch Geek definitely, seems like nothing out there can beat it. Any chance of you reviewing the MTG b1000 btw?
If getting it stuck in the mailbox why not put it on the other wrist my friend.
This is one of my fav g shocks
It's gorgeous. I almost bought it BUT...
The Rangeman (GW-9400) Also has sunrise / sunset, is smaller, has a recording capacity of FORTY LOGS (not 30), A Stopwatch w/Direct Access Measuring capacity of: 999:59'59.99" hours (not 24 hrs)and is digital ONLY so no chance of analog breakage (tougher).
AND is $191.00
To me, the 9400 has it beaten.
Rubbish
Always loved the look of these ones. Great video as always!
I can see how you press a button on a Protrek but can't imagine accidentally pressing it in the Rangeman where it's protected
I have large wrists too. That never happened to me with the Rangeman. But with the GG 1000 Mudmaster happened to me twice.
@@MrCarpen7erThat's because that Mudmaster is entry level, and lacks button protection.
I’ve had mine for a year now. It’s awesome. Just buy one if you’re on the fence.
Ho lo stesso GWG 1000 e il mio orologio preferito, con GW 9400 ,anche se non uso spesso il triple sensor .
Just got mine today. It’s definitely
an engineering marvel. With small wrist, I must get used to the enormous size....
Excellent video quality!! excellent review like always!!
Thanks 😊
It's a perfect watch imo!
Love your review channel !
Thanks 😁
Don’t fret. It looks fine on your wrist. My only complaint is the dead-beat second hand. I wish they had used a sweep seconds.
I have this one, can you make a review to show the difference between the latest design.
I’m kinda curious to see them side by side.
Because, the latest design is growing on me day by day, having the desire to get it.
@3:43 EXACTLY.
Anyone who could explain why Casio is using the crown in order to adjust the watch instead of the buttons is greatly welcome ...
Anyone who buys this needs to get the Nato Strap Mod for it. I can't recommend it enough.
Thats it i am buying this watch
Did you buy it ? How do you like it ? Does it feel too big on the wrist?
rocking my gwg1000 right now!!!
Really nice watch, luckily I own one of this and recently got the rangeman gpr-1000, they're simply the best watches....
Holy shit.... it looks amazing. I have the GBA-800 black and I love it, but this thing is also very nice
I have 1 for sale 300 email me now
@@montanabig1303 no im good
Great intro & review! I may have missed this but I assume your favorite is the quad-sensor Gulfmaster? The only thing that held me back from buying the quad-sensor was the issues I read from owners.
My favorite are the basic screw back squares
Great! THX! Looking forward for the indeep tutorial! Keep up the good work! Cheers
Hi! I watched all your videos regarding GWG-1000 and GW-9400...what do you think, besides the look, materials and price do you think is it worth the difference between these two? What is your advice? Good luck ahead with these detailed reviews, I really like them, including the video quality and explanations. Thank you!
I would go for the GW9400, it is probably the best Gshock ever made, in a traditional way, being all digital.
@@WatchGeek Hi! I took the GW-9400, but now I'm thinking to take it back and switch to GWG-1000..but I'm still not decided yet :)) The difference is 320$...don't know what to do..keep this or switch...what is your advise?😁 Thank you!
@@petrisorw950I'm not sure what decision you made, but I would have recommended the GWG-1000 over the GW-9400 any day.
Even the GW-9500 is a better option than the GW-9400, imo.

@@WatchGeekBest digital module, but the build quality is sub par.
I don't know how Casio does it but bigger g shock actually wears more comfortable than smaller ones.
Out of all my watches, many of them Casios, I end up wearing my Muddy the most, despite many of my own perceived "imperfections."
You should not have to take off the watch to adjust this with the "winder."
This Is my best companion.... Without It's crown it Will Be Simply perfect!
@@MaxVelasquez340 sell what?
I just got my GWG 1000 1A1 Mudmaster about two days ago. I sold the GWG 100 that I had. I was surprised that a premium watch like the GWG 1000 came in the standard G-Shock tin can.😂😂😂
I am thinking of doing same thing. Worth it??
@@Kingstonsmac have you bought it ?
DIY Recording Sure have and it’s my favorite watch. 👍🏽
@@Kingstonsmac worth it?
@@ala8876 To me its not worth the retail price. Its an expensive watch. If you can get it for a good price definitely go for it. It will last a lifetime.
The black and gold stays with me for 2 yrs now ... i never look at any other G shock ever since...
Great review!
This and the rangeman gw9400 IMO are THE best watches you can buy. Solar atomic cannot be beat. Very reliable and I know this from experience. I work construction and wore one for about 8 years before I retired it. It still works like the day I bought it but just wanted something different. Won’t buy any other brand
of the two, which is your fav?
Got it is the best g shock I have bought and I have had a lot
The screw down crown would also majorly aid water resist...
Great video, excellent quality, mate 👍👌
Thanks 😊
I wish I could find a simple checklist of all G-Shock watches .
For instants I am looking for a three sensor G-Shock with altitude, temperature, compass and no Bluetooth. I would love to simply have a list of every G-Shock watch that offers this with nothing less.
It is so hard to find exactly what I'm looking for and I have almost given up.
This is as close as you can get to what you are looking for: g-shock.jp/products/finder/
Also note that it shows only models currently in production, BUT if you toggle the include production end models it will cover EVERY GSHOCK EVER MADE 😄
@3:49 complicated AND difficult as one has to always make sure they've screwed back the crown tight enough in order to make it waterproof, which makes it hard to unscrew afterwards especially by a person that doesn't have enough strength in the fingers.
Always great reviews !!! by the way this watch sucks it does not have sunset sunrise ???...the GG-B100 Is much better more funtions a little smaller only lacks solar power which is not a big deal .
Pull out crown for more traditional watch owners, I am waiting for my gwg1000 to arrive, thank-you. 👍✌️
GWGB1000-1A just ordered. Please do a review!
Thank you for the video. I am a big fan of G-Shock since kid. So what is the best model?
Any experiences with the band? Does it "crack" over time?
We'd like you to mention THE best G-Shock you have ever reviewed.
New camera, new intro! Love it!!! ☺️
Thanks
Hello, how is the duration of.the battery? How much light does it take to full charge? Then, how much is the whole life of the battery???
Thanks !
Hi I am thinking of purchasing this watch next month can let me know know what would be the best option you like also I have large hands love this design thank you so much
Great new camera setup , now darnit should I sell my gg1000 for this ? Lol
Yes!!!!!
@3:02 well that's a question of taste.
I love the size.
Great review of the watch though.
Thank you :-).
Video Quality 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks 😊, I'm glad you liked it
What g shock is the best for fishing and showing the tides?
It´s a great G-Shock. The better looking one ? Maybe. The best ? No. To me the best G-Shock to date is the GPR B 1000 Rangeman.
i have both and i love both.
The wheel comparison shouldve been like an abrams tank track or something robust
On a side note, have you used or heard of Jomashop? and thoughts on the Seiko automatic Blue Dial SKX009J1. Seeing it going for $225 on that site. Thanks
This G Shock is beautiful. 😍😍😍😍
What is the best G-Shock you have reviewed?
I am wondering too
OK, I'll add my name to the list of people who would be very interested in the answer! 🙂
Thank you.
The answer from Casio:
"Dear Mr. Hristov:
Thank you for your email and for your interest in our products. You have contacted the European Support Center in Norderstedt, Germany.
Regarding your question, we can inform you the following:
As the GWG-1000 is not a divers watch, we do not recommend the operation of buttons underwater.
Great review
I love the crown.
Does it have a sunrise/sunset feature? Surprisingly, I use that feature all the time on my pro trek.
How small is your wrist? I am sure you are capable of pulling this watch off
Or is it your preference not to enjoy larger watches.
I saw a video of one vlogger saying if he sees that watch on some elses hand it will make for a good laughs but to each their own.
As always keep up the great work.
Thank you.
My wrist is 6,7" and yes, I prefer a smaller look
@2:58 how about the negative LCD display which is very difficult to read unless there's a lot of light over it?
Why did they choose a negative one?
Thank you.
I.. call this watch the Nokia 3310 of a watch very durable lol!! I go magnet fishing and still work fine I seen it go out of alignment. realigment feature is awesome I mean does strong magnet feilds effect a quartz watch. This thing is nearly indestructible man even strong hits and vibrations.
Hi, you mentioned that this isn't your favourite G-Shock, I'd be interested to know which one is? My personal favourite at the moment is my 9400 Rangeman. I am considering buying this Mudmaster as I would like an analog display with the same functions as the Rangeman.
DW-5000SL is my favorite as it's been with me for 10 years now
Awesome line, just can't justify the price for me.
Nice Macro work.
Thanks 😊
