After a few tries (and with aid from the TB Discord Team), I managed to update my firmware and my stick is now back up and running!
So expect further videos from me, on MSFS settings for the Flightstick etc.
If you encounter issues with your Velocity One products, I highly recommend joining the Turtle Beach Discord (link in the description): their support on there is amazing. I would especially like to thank James_TBS (admin) and 2Bad4You (Mod - great name btw ;), who were particularly helpful.

Could you say what was involved in the discord? I’m sorta persona non grata over there because I dared criticize the V1 yoke after having 2 defective ones in a row.

Just a lot of troubleshooting: uninstalling the app and disconnecting/reconnecting the FS - not certain what solved it in the end.
Mine came today with firmware v1.07. Used the 10% off code TBEU-Surfmyads so £108 delivered direct from Turtle Beach UK.
I noticed the lighting bug on yours where the base buttons don't light up. Happened to mine as well after playing with settings. Fortunately it's easy fixed by going into Lighting>Colour>Off to turn off the lights, then unplug the joystick and plug it in again. Now when you change to a colour all the lights come on again. Seems to get into a confused state but turning off the lights resets the values. Should be a simple code fix.
Overall very pleased with the flight stick, glad to be retiring my CH Products HOTAS and pedals.
The nose dive landing at the end was the cherry on top of your video. 😂

Well, despite the update problem you had I decided to buy the stick for my PC and after a few hiccups, key binding related, I got it up and running and it has replaced the stick from my aging Saitek X56 HOTAS. All the issues I had with my old stick with calibration, sensitivity and dead zones, have vanished. This performs marvellously and I gave you mention when I was asked where I had heard about it.
I had 10% off at checkout too and despite ordering late Thursday night it arrived Saturday 👍

I still use Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2. I do like the idea of 2 throttle levels on the one stick however. I did try the Thrustmaster T.16000M flight pack and couldn't gel with it, albeit it was awesome to configure so many commands to. This I believe I might give it a go. Thanks for the early review.
No problem and well worth buying.
Just a random note: The DHC-2 max manifold pressure is 36.5 (The gauge just forward of the throttle) if you overboost it you can damage the engine (liberation of a cylinder) and make all the intake tubes leak. So if you feel like role playing stop advancing the throttle when you hit 36.5 on the gauge.

Update working! This is how I got the update working for me after many failed attempts. Unplug the flightstick from the PC then start the app which will ask you to plug in the stick then the update worked.

Newbie XBOX X and FS1 and MSFS. Still getting to grips with all three. Great review, which helps a lot thank you. I must say that I found I found it very confusing initially because not all of the default mappings - out of the box - reflect the button legends e.g. B7 and B8 are mapped to Joystick Buttons 20 and 21. Once I got that anomaly out of that out of the way, I was then puzzled that the default mapping of the throttle needs all three (axis, B9 [afterburner] and B10[reverse thrust) need to be present for the throttle to work. If I clear B9 and B10 assignments, then the throttle not longer works - but they are a bit overkill for a Cessna 152 - my ‘learning vehicle’. Keep up the excellent work Huddison!
I honestly haven't looked thorougly at the default mappings and their oddities.
Something I'll aim to take a deeper dive into.
@@Huddison Thank you. FYI, the throttle axis issue is intermittent. Sometimes it doesn’t respond when restarting a flight and I have to increase and decrease several times..response then seems to stabilise. I also note that in ‘Control Settings’, it takes several activations before the response shows up WHITE on button activations for all buttons.

I just got mine. The ring is for select stick functions, PC/XBox, Axis adjustment, trim, and light options. I found the grip to be less than desirable when twisting for the rudder action. It is almost completely round so you have to grip it tight to keep it from twisting back as the spring is strong. The grip should be more oval or elongated for a more relaxed grip action. I like all the functions, buttons and sliders which give you many options for configuration. If you do not have this mounted, with forward and backward deflection of the stick it will tilt the whole controller as it is wider than it is narrow front to back, so you have to keep constant pressure downward to keep it planted on your desk surface. Guess I'll have to find a mounting option as this will drive me crazy over time! I use my keyboard tray for its' base which is less than ideal.
Good feedback Ken, but give us more detailed feedback of your impressions.
I believe there is a video here on youtube that will help you with the it being hard to twist and wobble. It can be loosened to your desire. There is also a rubber band solution as well. As for mounting you can get a sticky pad, or some velcro and just a few pieces on the bottom will keep it firmly planted and allow you to still move it if you need to.
Does it work on farming sim on xbox?

Interesting stick.
It's not a HOTAS incidentally but a 3 axis stick with throttle.
Looks alot better than hotas one potentiometer problems on that after time

Great early review. How does it compare with hotas one xbox? Thinking about selling my hotas one and getting this one (hotas is too big to store on my living room 😊)
More features than the Hotas One, although the throttle is much smaller on the V1FS.
The resistance of the stick and the trim wheel really shine for me.

3 meter cable is a nice feature. My Hotas 1 cable is like one meter too short to plug it in the Xbox while sitting on the couch.
Yes it's a very generous length.
The precision vs fast is probably a exponential vs logarithmic growth curve of the output, and the default one is just a linear curve... or just one straight line.

@@Huddison Or... the angle of axis has been altered... from the default 45° to 22,5° or 67,5° respectively... but that would mean that the range of the joystick would be too short (precision) or too long for the input (fast)
I received this yesterday and was able to test it for 1 hour. It's my first stick and I am still a beginner in this SIM world but I was quite pleased with it.
I wished they would have made it possible for the little joystick at the top to be used as mouse so the controller wouldn't be needed (the touchpad is just too difficult to control)
That would've been more ideal.
@@Huddison They should have made the screen a touchpad as well. Put it slightly lower down or more of an upright angle and have that bigger real estate to work with.
Is the tension adjustable? I deal with carpal tunnel and other issues... In search of a stick with little to barely any tension.

I got mine today (not setup yet). Even though I have the Thrustmaster Warthog and pedals, I wanted something for my lazy flights where I recline my chair back where I can't easily reach my thrusters, flightstick or pedals. I'll just place my Velocity One on a laptop lap table. I tried using an Xbox One controller, but controlling the throttle is a pain and that white dot bothered me too much. I'll still be using my mouse to activate toggles and buttons, but hopefully this will resolve the issues I have using a controller.
It's a lot better and far more immersive than using the gamepad for sure.
I received mine yesterday. I could not find a setup for X-Plane so sent it back today. Stick with my current setup.

The circular wheel for config buttons control it when you don't turn the wheel. Right side starts/pauses the chrono. Left side resets the chrono. Info is on the Turtle Beach support page.

Do you have any issues looking up (H2) using the external camera? Mine seems to lack fine camera movement, only on the external view and only when pulling the H2 thumbstick stick downward to look up. Cockpit view works just fine.
Invert the external view up down in control options if you prefer it to work the other way around. I don't have any issues in the cockpit - do you have another controller connected?

Check the acceleration settings on the cursor. If you turn acceleration off maybe the touch sensitivity will be better on that button?

I got mine this morning. Pity you can’t connect the velocityone rudders to it but if you have both the velocityone flight and velocityone rudders turned on and connected to the Xbox you can use the rudders and brakes with it.
I only have the two lights on the stick itself working so will contact them for an exchange. Everything else looks good and firmware update worked first time.

Hey Huddy, got mine last night. Connected it to my Series X this morning, all leds work on all buttons and around the base of the stick itself. It is currently updating on the Xbox as I type this. Maybe the key thing is the leds not working indicates some issue with the stick?
Thankfully all resolved now and all LEDs light up.

Thanks for the review! I received mine last night and was trying it. Do you know if there is a way to adjust the stick tension like there is with the Thrustmaster Hostas One? This one seems very very stiff to me, but maybe my Thrustmaster was too loose? Maybe I just need to get used to it?
I've not found a way to adjust the stick tension manually, but you can choose a different profile from the Flight management display.

Here’s my thoughts on the joystick
Firstly I am an Xbox user and before anyone says get a gaming PC, I am trying to save up for my PPL
My complaints:
1) The twist rudder because the range is a tiny bit too small
2) Personally I think the stiffness is almost perfect but if you fly fighter jets, the base will most likely lift off the table (thankfully I only fly GA) but you can mount it using the screws if you wish. - Someone suggested mounting a heavy plate onto the base
3) the screw to adjust the handrest can be a bit tooo tight considering you can only twist by hand and not a screwdriver
4) Bluetooth is unnecessary that money could have gone elsewhere or cut from the price tag
But aside from that the stick feels premium, it has the right amount of buttons, I never realised how useful the trim wheel is until using it like it’s better then assigning buttons for elevator trim. The trim wheel can either be set to analogue (regular trim wheel) or digital (like B737 trim tabs) which is cool.
Hall Effect sensors (contactless magnetic sensors) mean that you will probably never get stick drift like my deadzones are set to 0 and there’s no drift.
I love the adjustability of the hand rest because I’ve got small hands so I can adjust it to easily reach all the hat switches. And the hand rest can also be swapped to the left hand- there’s a nice feature to compliment this which swaps over the inputs to opposite side when you switch hands. For example when I switch to left hand mode, the throttle input swaps from left side to right side and same for everything else meaning you don’t have to go into settings and reassign all your buttons
The OLED screen which I thought would be gimmicky turns out to also be useful because I plug my headphones directly into the joystick so volume control can be done without having to press the Xbox guide button and interrupting the simulator. Aside from standard functions the screen can also show you the joystick position graph (Cartesian plane) and there’s a left handed mode which I already talked about. There’s also changing the led colours, input mode (linear, s shape)
The LED lights can be turned off (which I do) but there’s only a limited amount of colours to choose sadly there wasn’t a red option so that’s why I keep it off
There’s a trackpad but I don’t use it atm which you can adjust the sensitivity for on the OLED screen.
Excellent observations and comments. I also wish there were more colour schemes to choose from (for the LEDs); the forthcoming Bluetooth connectivity via mobiles, might expand these options 🤞
Does anyone know if this stick will work with Flightgear, my preferred flight sim. I don't want to purchase if it won't interface with FG calibration set up.

Auto-answer : yes it seems it's well ambidextrous (have checked on the website). That's a great news, because on flight stuff, there's not a lot of offer for stubbonr left hand user like me ;)

It's light enough to have it on your lap without it becoming uncomfortable & the connecting cable (to your PC or Xbox) is generously lengthy.
How is the update going?
I received my Flightstick a couple of hours ago. It came with 1.0.7 installed from Turtle Beach. I pre-ordered on Amazon. Shipped on the 17th and recieved on the 20th. I use it with my Series X and so far so good. It would have been nice if the stick had adjustable spring tension ???
How do you find the tension? I really like it.
@@Huddison I find it a little heavy. I have to rest heavy on the stick to prevent the use from lifting. More with the helis than the planes. A well trimmed plane is almost hands free.
i sended mine back to the seller. the h2 stick had stickdrift. at zero position it slighty moves down.
SU11 killed ground textures/LODs on Xbox. Hoping the devs roll out a fix soon!

I use an Xbox S and I can't properly use the thrust reverse (as for example on airbus 310) because this starts at about half run of the throttle and not at the detent. Do you have any suggestions?

Im using the thrustmaster stick with pedals and throttle, which feels plasticky and doesnt allow left hand stick. Do you think this is good enough to justify replacing my current set up?

I got mine today and after using it it'll be replacing my CH Products HOTAS and pedals setup.
Thinking about using these to try dual stick on pc. I have a logitech x56 right now though, and it's hard to let it go lol.

For whatever reason my flightstick will not work in msfs. I can move the cursor but A does not work to select anything. I have tried mapping everything in War thunder too and then enter a battle and nothing works

I setup the flightstick yesterday. I viewed your video looking forward more on the flightstick. I have one issue, the throttle doesn't want to work after you get airborne, I paused it several times to check and reset in control options but it made no difference. The engines are stuck on 100% and I can't change them. Also I am running it on PC, may try XBOB X and see if there is a difference.
Yikes: do let me know James. I do feel issues like this are more an Aspbp issue rather than a TB fault.
@@Huddison I have been flying in a happier state of mind. In my case if I leave the flightstick in Default, it works well with these heavies (A320, A310-A300, 787-10, 737 Max).
I think you're supposed to use the touchpad with your thumb while holding the stick lol, not gently caressing it with your index finger. It looks like there's some delay on it but to me it seems like you have to hold your finger on it and gently turn it to actually use it.
See my latest V1 FS settings video: it works just fine on PC MSFS.

Why would you pick this over the T.Flight Hotas One which works well? It doesn't compare to the Warthog HOTAS and TPR rudders on my PC but fine for casual XBox One X play.

One of the most satisfied experiences with a new product. Turtle Beach knocked it out of the park. I was very afraid of it feeling very cheap for how much they asked for it. Its not. I just hope the rubberized textures hold up over time. It is smaller than I expected, And the base has virtually no weight to it. Which may be a bit of an issue with nothing to mount it too. But its honestly minor. Absolutely would recommend this as a casual flight stick. Easily the best entry level and casual stick.
It's a stunning deal for sure.
It has its firmware version in the main display, As well as a live timer for when you're using it. It feels like something that should be in the $300 range. Certainly from the likes of Logitech.
I will have to figure out a mounting solution for it because it has no stick tension adjustment like the Hotas one. And by default, the stick out tensions the weight of the base. You can pick the base up with the stick set to neutral center axis. Almost the opposite issue of stick drift.
In terms of functions and features, the V1 FS has more options and I personally love the tension of it. The trim wheel is very convenient too.
I wasn't much intrested in this as I've got the hotas xbox one and the a320 replica one for xbox and pc but the trim wheel is so convenient I'm intrested in this at lot!
It does have some great features and I really like the stick tension.
I'm trying to update my flight stick however after downloading the app, when I open it it shows all kinds of Turtle Beach devices but not the Flight Stick. Any idea what could be wrong? Thanks Huddison
You have downloaded the TB Control Center app and not the Turtle Beach Velocityone Flightstick app: a little confusing, but they are slightly different. Both are available from the MS Store though.

Hi, I just bought this today. I've noticed that when I turn the led light off, I can still see a little bit of a glow from B7 and B8. Does yours do this?

Just plugged my V1 FS back into my PC and well, now all the LEDs (buttons & around the base of the stick) have all lit up!?

does it work with all xbox one and x series games or just fly simulator?
Good question: I believe it works with Elite Dangerous and other 'Space Games'. Ask on the TB Discord; I'm sure they will give you the full run down.
Which will you recommend, the yoke or the stick? I'm planning on getting my PPL.
The Yoke offers more options and immersion.
Could it be used as a alternative controller for aircraft on battlefield 2042?

Thanks for the Video! Can we extend the cable??? I have my unit clear across the room and may need a couple extra feet. I know I can add a cable but will it affect function?? Has anyone successfully extended?
Since the "far end" (opposite of the end which plugs into the stick) of the cable is a standard USB 2.0, you should be able to use any USB 2.0 extension cable with zero problems.
Received mine yesterday and after some sensitivity adjusments and calibration iit seems to be a great stick and a joy to use it. It's well made and loaded with features. TB should sell a boat load of these any time soon. The MS TB app said the firmware is up to date on my stick. One big caveat though, TB's on line support is non-existence and I hope it will change soon.
They have a helpful Discord server I find.
I had an issue with my V1 some of the lights not working out of the box, after emailing them they were very quick to exchange it... but I had a problem with the courier rather than TBUK when the UK dept of TB couldn't sort it TB in San Diego contacted me, it was exchanged in 48 hours by UPS..... I guess the Yanks don't like bad service lol.... :-)

The way they manage updates is a nightmare. They really need to sort this out.

Shame about the firmware issue. I didn’t have any problems with mine, updated straight out of the box through the xbox app. Loving the stick so far , feels really good for the money & so many features. Game changer!

It is like a mini V1 Flight Yoke, but in Hotas form - your choice ultimately.

Are there detents in the levers?
Yes in both directions (up & down); more on that in my next video.

Someone will need to figure out how much weight is needed to counteract the force of the stick. Otherwise it is practically unusable anywhere but on a desk/table with a secure mount.
It is better secured somehow, for certain.
Simple solution for all table top sticks is commercial velcro. I have used it on the extreme 3d. No movement at all.

i got mine today.
I tried it out after work but MSFS wont let me save a custom profile. The default Helicopter profile for the Velocity One Flight stick is not that good.

@@coll1nz229 It's not a hardware fault just needs a firmware fix. Here's my solution.
I noticed the lighting bug on yours where the base buttons don't light up. Happened to mine as well after playing with settings. Fortunately it's easy fixed by going into Lighting>Colour>Off to turn off the lights, then unplug the joystick and plug it in again. Now when you change to a colour all the lights come on again. Seems to get into a confused state but turning off the lights resets the values. Should be a simple code fix.

I'm having the same issue where my button lights are not working. Tried your fix but still nothing. I had them come on once but once i unplugged it and back in again they haven't come on since! Very annoying seeing as the lights are working for other people
Sorry that this is off the subject, but New Issues with VF1 & MSFS 40th editions: Here is my Bug reporting to MSFS Forum:
🤣After the 40th Edition Update on Xbox S was updated and the prior version of Velocity One Firmware installed I DID NOT experience any issues other than getting familiar with new aircraft and creating a profile for the DC3. I attempted to create a helicopter profile. Abandoned that profile after realizing I had limited knowledge of creating proper functions for the Helicopter (which did not respond well). After changing to a proven Aircraft and applying it’s associated profile, the flight properties were somewhat erratic. Realizing there might have be a compatibility issue with 40th edition and VF1, I checked for a firmware update,(1.4.0) which I installed. That’s when I experienced the loss of profiles and inability to retain them. Those profiles had been reinstalled in the past after bugs related to FS and VF1 which they had resolved.
After installing new VF1 Firmware V.1.4.0 neither Duplicating nor creating New profile settings are retained.
It should be noted that Prior Settings of the FMD (Flight Management Display) of the VF1 needed to be reset after the Firmware 1.4.0 Update, which hints at the issues being more related to Turtle Beach than Flight Simulator. Those FMD settings which had changed included colors, brightness, etc. Experimenting with setting the 3 FMD Profiles “Default”, “Single-Eng. Prop”, or “Twin-Eng. Jet” help not at all. Those settings interaction implications & relationship with MSFS were never well documented from the beginning. Being there was a strong relationship between Turtle Beach’s VF1 and Microsoft based on the patented and authorized Xbox Logo dead center on the Yoke, one would think that serious “bugs” would have been explored and ironed out by the two entities. Patience is a virtue, but my daily flights are a no go while my planes remain in the hangar. Help!

@@Huddison Thanks for the quick reply. I was unsuccessful connecting with discord. I was not the first user on the MSFS forum to report the issue. Unfortunately neither MS or Turtle Beach have recognized the problem is as widespread or serious enough to address. I'm expecting that it will eventually be addressed by one or both of the entities. In the meantime the pre-canned "Single Eng. Prop" works for flying Cessna 172, etc. Most of the assignments are generally logical, just not user definable.

Unable to duplicate or create a new profile, I was able to modify the "Default" profile, yesterday, which appeared to "stick" (for a while). Primarily using the game pad with some interaction with a wired mouse (which has worked in the past). While testing settings on the tarmac my XBox controller "timed out". Upon reactivating it some issues returned. I suspect the mouse may now be the culprit since the FS & Firmware updates. Being today is a holiday I will be taking a break from Simulator troubleshooting. If and when I learn more I will report back to you and your viewers and at the FS Forum.
Does Microsoft flight simulator work with any Xbox console and does the joystick work with the Xbox to fly it with and which monitor should I buy?
You can use the Cloud to play MSFS on the Xbox One I believe, I don't know if the flight stick will work though. It does work fine on the Series S & X.

Got mine today haven't unboxed it yet working night shift
Received mine this afternoon, worked out of the box, downloaded the app, updated the software OK. Before update could not get track pad to work at all, but after - some movement but not good. The quality of the joystick is amazing at the price. I need to understand how to navigate the Xbox interface without having to use the normal controller?
A mouse would be best.

I have a massive issue. Problem is I manage the 310 perfectly no issue however it’s IMPOSSIBLE to taxi or even line up properly ! The rudder is just impossible the 310 doesn’t turn AT ALL…. You can see the riddle full left or right but it hardly turn! I have tried all the setting on the rudder on the velocity one but absolutely nothing change ! 319/320 or else no problem at all but with the 310 it’s close to impossible. Any idea ?
There is a setting in the A310 EFB/tablet that let’s you chose whether to steer with the nose wheel or not. Maybe you have set it to off?

On Xbox or PC? On PC it should be fine.
@@Huddison on PC. I have never used flight controllers before and since this model is new, I am not sure if it will work correctly in War Thunder

I'm hoping they come out with some kind of quadrant or some other throttle control. The two additional ports in front seem to be a good sign.

What if you hold the trigger and use the thumb wheel? I would try that.

The only issue keeping me from buying this is the lack of separate throttle like my Thrustmaster T-flight HOTAS One. I desperately want to though, my T-flight is old and suffering stick drift, in spite of me cleaning it. I hope a throttle is in development, so I can remap the displayed axis for something else in Elite: Dangerous, Star Citizen MSFS also so I can replace my T-flight it with this one.

Not having a separate throttle like i did with the Hotas One actually doesn’t bother me as much as I thought it would. It’s not ideal, but it has good tension and works fine imo. The quality is much better. The stick alone makes it worth buying over the hotas one

I'm using XBOX flight sim..... yes i know I'm an amateur, but let me tell you....I'm so close to throwing this stick out the window......controlling the tiny fiddly {which you ever so briefly hit upon?} pad of a curser is a nightmare...after 5 hours fiddling about, I've come to the conclusion its near impossible to set anything up no matter what touch sensitivity is set. When reopening my xbox controller for any button editing it causes a conflict with the stick??....yes I'm using the latest firmware also 1.0.7. l have also installed the microsoft app which does nothing but to only add my already latest update...... maybe its just me?.....maybe it's my stick? .. either way im not happy with it???>.. 😁👿😤😤...btw,people are wanting this flightstick primarily for the X/S XBox, not PC........... anybody else having such problems?
The Touchpad doesn't work well at all on my Series S, but great on PC - I reckon it'll need another firmware update to improve things.
