    More flight sticks should have the left-handed feature. I am fully right handed but for flight sims I use the left hand for the stick and the right for the mouse. A good review, might consider the purchase.

    Actually preordered this stick. It feels great. Coming from the thrustmaster, genuinely feels upmarket. Similar texture to a Logitech MX mouse. Buttons are also way better detinted than the thrustmaster. But the centering spring is very stiff where the thrustmaster had that adjustable. and it makes those precise inputs feel much more like a controller thumbstick than a flightstick. So thats unfortunate. The other unfortunate thing is the ergonomics with rudder input, And it seems thats entirely down to the ambi implementations, For one, the stick is uniformly cylindrical, coupled with the stiff twist resistance, means you really do have to vice grip the stick to twist it. Add to that the gnurled screw that takes the platform off to adjust will likely rub against your pinky the whole time, because thats where it is, Meaning if you do play for a while, you will develop a rash of sorts, and I could imagine breaking skin under more intense dogfights than I've involved myself in. I think its a great value for the money, It feels like a genuine plug and play controller with a ton of unique features that genuinely has a lot to offer if you can live with some quirks, but thats all flight sticks, no matter the price.

    This style of on stick throttle is new replaces some hotas features.
    if you can replace the up down side to side axis with that 2nd hat it might not be bad for a beginner's space sim stick.
    It does look like mounting it to a larger metal plate would be needed though.
    Also having a touchpad could be really versatile for running gimble weapons in star citizen.

    I just ordered it, I’m thinking that the strong spring will mean it’ll have a bit of a break in period and won’t be too soft and spongey after years of use. I’ll be using 3M Velcro to keep it in place if I don’t like keeping some down pressure to keep it in place l.

    Do you plan to have a eq video for the Maxwell? Lots of interest in your eq settings on the Maxwell forum. Thanks for the great content!

    Great review.. subbed. I have the huge Boeing controller with pedals and all that but I'm still setting up my 'MSFS flight sim room with cockpit' which is getting more exaggerated as time goes on 🙄. While I'm building that I wanted something small I can fit under my office desk and pull out when I feel like doing some challenges or jobs. That stick looks a lot larger and solid than others in the price range (saytek) I'm going to buy the clamp-mount on amz also. thanks!

    I got this for my PC, and I do like the flight stick. But the sound will not work when I first turn on the computer. I have to restart to get the sound to work. I thought maybe it was fastboot causing the issue, but it is not the problem, I tested it.

      There must be a way of doing this without permanently shorting the spring. Maybe a small zip tie or washers under the plate to make.more space.

    Other hardware qs; Are you going to have a look at the Sound Blaster X5?

      That's what another reviewer said too, it sprung back to center too fast and also went from hard to move from center to soft as you got out of that center dimple so it was hard to fine tune your movement.

    • @mrljones01

      You can disable the "use recommended dead-zone" setting in the options menu.

    • @ThaiLitzki
      @ThaiLitzki 10 месяцев назад

      Highly suggest you dig into x,y axis dead zones and multipliers. It can be adjusted how much the first movements do compared to maxed out. Helps a lot since you rarely do full lock out.

    If you're on PC, there's honestly nothing that beats the quality/price balance that VKB Sim sticks hit. On console, you're kind of screwed.

  • @Thunderbird1337
    @Thunderbird1337 2 месяца назад

    This stick has 2 big problems. One is the stiffness, which can be fixed (as others said). The other one is the very small movement angle of the stick. And that can't be fixed. Compared to my old Thrustmaster stick, the Velocity One has almost half the movement. This just feels bad if you are used to a good flight stick with a proper movement angle. It simply can't have the same precision if you need only half the stick movement for the same movement in the sim. I tried the Velocity One stick and returned it immediately. It has very nice features, but unfortunately that's all worthless if the stick fails completely in the most important points: Comfort/ feeling and precision. In my opinion a complete misconstruction.

    Eh, I'd rather have the classic ThrustMaster HOTAS One setup.

    • @JBAlternate

      Me too, but they're known for jittering in less than a year. Mine only made it 4 months. For being $80-90 the hotas one should at least last a long time even if it has basic features and feels cheap.
