    Another mounting solution: I bought some suction cups with M5 size threads from Amazon. Screwed into the bottom of the Flightstick, I can have it mounted on a lap tray if I'm sitting on the sofa, or on my cockpit setup when I'm using that. With the help of a few drops of water on the cups' bases to aid the suction, they work really well.
    (A word of warning - if you buy suction cups, the "sourcing map Suction Cup with Screws 30mm Dia. M5 Thread" are the only ones from Amazon I found with M5 size threads - others, which were advertised as having M5 threads, had M4s. I had to return two deliveries before I found some that fitted; it really was third time lucky!)

      @@Huddison I'm really enjoying using the Flightstick; it's made such a difference to me. I don't consider it to be too stiff - with a bit of resistance, I feel I can maintain control over aircraft better than if things felt looser, and with the Flightstick mounted, that extra bit of resistance is no consequence. Of course, since my Flightstick is so new, I can't comment about how it feels now compared when it was brand new but it certainly is a quality item, so I'd be very surprised if my experience over time is different to yours. Thank you once again!

    I have been using the V1FS for the same amount of time and I have not encountered any kind of problems with it and that includes the RGB lighting. When I first got the stick last year it did seem a bit stiff but now it's kind of "broken in" and feels absolutely perfect. I have the same setup as you, the Turtle Beach stand with Turtle Beach rudder pedals and I can say with great enthusiasm that buying the stand really makes using the V1FS so much more enjoyable. I mostly play War Thunder, so I have put my V1FS through the rigors of battle the past year and it's still performing perfectly.

    I own and use this flightstick and would highly recommend it. Initially used for flying helis and any light aircraft which nativity use a stick. The tension I'd say is no issue as all full size aircraft I've flown, the controls stiffen to a similar feel about 80 knots +.
    My biggest (pleasent) surprise is that I have flown a commercial full motion sim of an Airbus A320 and the actual Airbus side-stick feels very much the same.
    Great video and review. Take care everyone.

    I would add that for use with helicopters, if you don't have rudder pedals, there is actually a twist axis on the V1 which can be used as the anti-torque input. However, this axis, like the other two has pretty strong springs. When hovering for extended periods the spring resistance can cause wrist fatigue which tends to result in unintended cross-talk in pitch and roll axes. Some of this can be reduced by dead zones but with the inevitable introduction of imprecision in those axes at the most critical phase when very precise and direct control is required.

    For me its a solid 8 or 9. If it had force feedback It'd be 10.

    I got mine 3 days ago and it's a huge difference over xbox controller. Personally I would be annoyed if it was loose like most joysticks and kinda toylike. As I am new to MSFS I thought I would start the lessons from the beginning as I have only done a few of them. My problems is the controller works great and shows up in controller options, but in the lessons it shows up blank when I want to see what control bindings I have during a lesson, unlike xbox controller which shows all the controls. So I have to use the keyboard to continue with a lesson as I don't know what button to press, then MSFS thinks I'm using a keyboard to fly and only gives me keyboard commands instead of the flightstick commands which it does for parts of the lesson. So I think I will have to do the lessons with xbox controller and use the flightstick for well flying. I am still very happy I bought it. Thanks for all your helpful videos they have made a huge difference to the learning curve in MSFS2020.

    I find the tension very good for GA flying. I was lucky enough to spend a few days flying around in a Diamond DA20 (real world) last year, and the stiffness feel of the real stick during flight isn't a million miles away from the velocity stick. On the ground its a totally different kettle of fish however, but thats not surprising. The stick is a keeper for me 👍

    I have one and whilst the flight stick is stiff it has remained smooth since i have had it. On others the movement has become gravelly in time. I do have a problem with the trim wheel I do sometimes hit the B17 key which makes the plane go crazy. BTW I would give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  3 месяца назад

      Check if you have another setting for B17 already in controls Options (it sounds like you have). I prefer B16 & B17 for trim nose up/down nowadays.

    It's a matter of preference, but for me the stick was always too stiff. I DIY'd it by cutting the tension spring in half (instructions can be found here on YT). Much better now! TB could easily have made it possible to adjust the tension without taking the stick apart, but for some reason they didn't.

  • @norbertwenkel9139
    @norbertwenkel9139 3 месяца назад +1

    Thanks for your one year review. I´m using the stick since summer 23 and agree mainly with your comments. The high stiffness of the stick is one of my complains but mainly the sudden and erratic loss of the trimwheel in analog and/or digital use is the major one. When the trim wheel does not work correctly sometimes a new calibration and/or setting to digital and back to analog again helps. But it is erratic and the reasons for that behavior is not known to me. And whats about the rumbler motor inside the stick. No action/function is known for that. Take care and kind regards out of germany.

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  3 месяца назад

      I may do a dedicated video on why analogue trim wheels behave in such a way in MSFS. They seem to work as intended in other sims.

    • @norbertwenkel9139
      @norbertwenkel9139 3 месяца назад

      @@Huddisonthank for your response. The behavior of an analog trim wheel in MSFS is quite known. what I try to explain is that when e.g. trimming down even in the digital mode the indicators on the stick switch erratic up and down. That is confirmed by showing the response in the windows joy.cpl. So for some reasons the sensor inside the stick does some strange things. As I wrote earlier when doing a recalibration of the stick and switching from digital to analog a few times the trimwheel seems to work but just for a while.

  • @DarkWatcher-Gaming

    Hi buyed this today, they fixed the trim issue you have talked about in another your video?

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  21 день назад +1

      I'm afraid the analogue trim is an inherent issue with the sim rather than the stick.

    The trackpad fails to operate correctly. I hoped they would release a software update which would make it useable - year on still not usable! I want to use only the stick - not have use a mouse or keyboard- use it on the xbox only.

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  3 месяца назад

      The trackpad is a wee bit too small to be useful; it was a nice idea though.

  • @thomas1988de1
    @thomas1988de1 3 месяца назад +1

    Also a big fan of the device but I wish they'd release a updated revision which addresses some of the minor issues:
    - Touchpad is horrible
    - Buttons beside the trim wheel lack any feedback
    - Stiffness can be too much depending on how it is positioned.
    Also a standalone throttle in a similar style / price range without fancy things like the touchpad would be awesome.

    • @Huddison
