can't believe 3060 is still going for $300usd. it was $300cad during the holidays but prices across the board are horrible in 2024. everything is priced 1-2 tiers above where they should be in 2024
It looks like someone at Nvidia is still high on the high-price drug.
Because nvidia can sell with those price. That's why their gaming revenue was up 18% YoY. in comparison AMD gaming revenue was down at significant 48% YoY for the very same quarter.
Yeah, and prices will stay high now that NIVIDA is crowned the king of the financial world, with AI, haha
i see a big drop in pc hardware, less spending power worldwide, a lot of products, prices...
For the right price the 6800xt is a decent deal. Close in performance to a 7800xt so if it’s considerably less it’s worth considering.
Or the 7800xt. More power efficient than 6800 and slightly faster
@@MightyCats2011 7800xt looks like a decent option but if you have 50 bucks extra you can usually find the 7900gre.
It really depends what you find. Like last year I got a 6800xt for 439. I’ve seen things lately where some people have gotten them for less though. Looks like right now Newegg has some open box models of the 6800xt at 399. The 7800xt looks to be in the 479 range. 7800xt looks like a decent card though. I’m the guy that is usually about bang for bucks.

If 50 series gets pushed to Q1 2025, it would actually make sense, no competition from AMD, plenty of 4090’s and 4080’s, what’s the rush

True the price on the shelf is without price. So typically figure another 8-10% for taxes depending where you are.
my next upgrade I will stick with AMD ,the performance price range is amazing , will upgrade from RX6700XT to 7900XT GRE

yup. i'm buying one in 2025. will be freaking expensive though.
The GPU I would buy today is the AMD RX 7900GRE. It performs close to the 7900XT, has 16GB VRAM on a 256 memory bus, beats the overpriced 4070 super and comes close to the overpriced 4070ti super, and the price is $500.
At $500 the 7900GRE is worth it, Specifically the PowerColor Fighter one on Amazon. Update it seems like it is out of stock but luckily it will come back in stock soon.
The only reason why someone would give Nivdia your hard earned money is if you are doing AI or using creative apps like Blender
I will never be convinced a GPU is worth over $600 for any model.
Since we do not presently have a functional federal government, this is not going to happen, but what we need is a federally-enforced pause on AI development until it can be regulated tightly.
Its very functional, it's doing what all governments do over time, enriched themselves, etc...

Nvidia is keeping these prices because there is no alternative. Maybe Intel is going to compete sometime in the future and that new Chinese brand that makes GPUs. Meanwhile we are stuck with Nvidia and I'm OK with it as it's top tier quality product and it's no longer like it was in the 90s that one had to upgrade PC every year. Now you can skip 2 generations and upgrade.
That high price was thanks to semi pro crowd.

@@JanoVaa in theory it is as you described. But in reality AMD brings compatibility and reliability problems. This is why no big system builders like Dell or IBM ever sells systems with AMD components. Too much hassle. You always have driver problems with AMD and often there are some hardware design flaws. People know it and this is why they go for Nvidia anyway even when the prices are higher.

No one is buying at those prices especially when next gen is about to come out. They won't lower prices because they want next gen to be priced just as high if not higher. Suck that amd can't compete, they'd be just as breeding like when their CPUs were better than Intel.
GPU prices going to keep sucking for years to come. Time to change hobbies.
