Hoping that Fujifilm reads this comment section. Please please update the camera remote app. It just doesn't work 95% of the time. It's so frustrating. Love my X-E3 and want to use the app but it makes me want to throw the camera away
It's honestly a big reason I'm lukewarm about my XS10. My Sony a5000 had a great mobile app, and it was several years older. But the Fuji app is an inconsistent mess. It's a crapshoot to see if my camera even connects.
You are not alone buddy. I only rely on laptop with a card reader instead of using crappy app
@@ManpreetSingh-cs5kp I have actually resorted to getting a stupid adapter so I can plug de USB cable in my phone and transfer it that way. I use my camera mostly with friends and it would be nice to be able to quickly share the pictures with them instead of waiting untill I'm home to get my laptop.
In a perfect world the camera stays connected to the app and will autotransfer whilst shooting so I can see them in Google Photo's right away.
Same. It’s like solving some Indiana Jones type riddle every time.
100%. This app is part of the reason I sold my X-T4. It’s absolute garbage.
Chris and Jordan always manage to make a whole, fun TV episode out of product reviews! Thank you for having such a good time and sharing that with the world. :)
The first channel I head to right after the Summit 😆
Jordan's running effort makes this a perfect video!
APS-C perfection. Amazing how Fuji manages to create such great cameras for so many years now. They really do live the japanese kaizen mentality.
This is truly aimed at video shooters, and while I’m not one, it is exciting to see Fuji up their game!
Thorough and entertaining as always.
Very much looking forward to the video shootout with the GH6 - hope you can really put them both through their paces in varied conditions
Good job fuji.. the APSC king. No doubt.
The new zoom is really good addition to the lens lineup too.. and it being Internal Focus make it even better. Good job.
i'm set with my non-Fuji gear but always enjoyable watching your reviews and learning about the new toys. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Really excited to watch the final review.
Wow the video of this entire review is so incredibly sharp. I’m watching in 4k on a high end Samsung TV and it looks sharper than 4k from streaming services like Netflix. Go Fuji!
What a great review video. Congratulations guys.
Man the video from this camera does look good, awesome job Jordan (and fuji)
Checkmate. And nice shots Chris
Awesome!! Thanks for doing a review.
Hey Chris. Thank you for the review on the Fujifilm XH2-S. Noticed another Wotancraft camera bag in the video. NICE!!!! Fujifilm & Wotancraft are my my favourite combination. Cheers!😊😊😊
As a long time fuji user (xt2 and xh1 owner) I’m so excited and happy for this camera. I’ve slowly expanded into video and while I love fuji for photography I’ve been bummed that the xt4 didn’t keep up with the competition. I have a lot of hope for this and it’s potential with future firmware updates. Definitely ready to upgrade 😁
Ooooh the camera I don’t need and won’t buy since I have an X-T3 but am super excited to see the review for.
the full HDMI port, the improved writing speed and the planes, trains, automobiles makes an excellent case for upgrading - I'll just have to wait for the next Fujifilm sale days ;)
Those colors 🤩 Can't wait to get my hand on it!
That looks pretty nice! Great job on the video as usual. ;)
This video looked great!!!
The king is back, thank you Fujifilm
This looks like a pinnacle APS-C camera. Fujifilm is showing us what they will be perfecting this decade: Stacked sensors. Electronic shutter. Have to refine that AF. And fantastic video recording!
Looks like a great camera. Great colours!
Finally they are here, these following weeks will be interesting for Fujifilm followers.
Jordon was one of the best running backs in the CFL.
Would love to see the final review. :)
Pretty tasty review. I need to start saving up
Top work fellas.
I know Fuji will improve the autofocus over time, as my Fuji X-T30 has had multiple updates, all improving autofocus. I just hope it comes sooner rather than later...
really excited to see how this camera's feature set trickles down to other fuji models
Not sure if I need this with my XT4 treating me well. But if I didn’t I’d certainly be impressed!
same
I'm guessing in terms of image quality for still photos, there may not be a dramatic difference. All the powerful specs mainly focus on video and I think Fujifilm has made it right this time.
@@djstuc oh sorry, I might have missed that. There were so much to take in 😆
@@djstuc 14? Damn, that's impressive for APS-C.
Hope que get some kaizen love.
I will definitely wait for XH2
Since the X-H and X-S both have the flip out screen, I hope a future X-T5 goes back to the X-T3 style screen. That side tilt is great for portrait, which video people might not care about, but fits in better with the dial centric, X-T sort of setup.
Indeed. Full flip is only necessary for pointing the display forwards. Otherwise tilt is much better since it always stay centered, and it can be pushed back to the camera much quicker, while a flip display must be rotated 180° every time.
And I hope they don’t remove the ISO, SS and SCM dials.
@@Pedro76mchlkg they won’t
Me too, I was really hoping (with very very little faith admittedly) that the X-H2 would be a normal Fujifilm tri-axial screen. I just don't get along terribly well with a full flippy screen as it does nothing but slow me down since I literally(!) never shoot any video.
I might give this a rental, but I don't know that I'll buy it. I bought the X-T4 twice and sold it both times. Great camera, but I liked using my X-T3 and X-T1 more.
@@Kamukix I still have my xt3, was unconvinced the 4 would be much of an upgrade. I also hung on to my xe1, that first gen x trans sensor just gives a nice skintone to people.
Jordan cracks me up!
Phew, glad you got those RGB lights up!
nice subtle nod to the new lens too!
Is it actually possible to have great improvements to the autofocus and ibis by July when the production model is released? And would an upcoming xt5 or xt5s likely be a cheaper version of this or more pricier version?
10-bit video finally becoming the standard thank goodness. And a power zoom competitor to the Sony 18-105!
Thanks! Looking fwd to the comparison with the GH6. Keen to see the X-Pro for this gen.
Love the jab at c-11 bill
Jordan, Love the angry man rush towards the camera during the focus tracking clip.
Fuji always goes all out. I'm kinda jealous. The X-T4 looked interesting but wasn't enough over the GH5 for me to justify switching. But the X-H2S looks like a real GH6 competitor (maybe even OM-1 competitor, all in one) and it really makes me consider going to Fuji.
Believe me, I've been using monsters like the Canon 5D4 or the 1DX3. I still have my Canon 1DX3. But don't underestimate the XT-4. It's a monster too, despite the small size. You rarely miss your shots with this camera. Paired with the 50-140mm, it's the perfect equipment. I will definitely stick to it.
@@guillandanthony711 I don't underestimate the XT-4. I'm sure it's a great camera. Just that a lot of the features most people seemed excited for already exist in my GH5 and the slightly higher resolution and better AF wasn't really worth switching the whole system for. But with ProRes, a great EVF, minimal rolling shutter, it sounds like a nice upgrade. All that smaller and lighter than the GH6 with better battery life. I really need to get my hands on it but it sounds ideal as a hybrid cam.
Come to Fuji. The colours are so good.
I think autofocus will be key for this camera. At this price point, it will have to justify $1000 more than the R7, roughly the same as the A7IV, and slightly more than the GH6. Hopefully, your full review is going to be comparing all these for value.
The camera is way better than R7 and GH6 for sure.
@@nigerian-nightmare let’s wait and see.....the R7 autofocus looks bang on....
@@chrissharp4105 You're right on auto-focus. Fuji won't even come close but the auto-focus on fuji with the newer lenses are good enough.
The X-H2 is a far more video-centric camera though. Minimal rolling shutter, 6k video, raw video, etc.
Nevertheless this is also a sport- and wildlife-centric camera, and for that, the autofocus isn't enough. So far. Let's see what's the AF will be at the time of the release and how much firmware updates from there will help.
Anyway, I suppose the target audience of the X-H2s isn't the same the target audience of the EOS R7. The X-T5 will be.
@@nigerian-nightmare well if that is the case, then Fuji are lying. That is not what they say in their commercial...
I'm a Nikon shooter, but I've always had high regard for Fujifilm equipment. This review has really peaked my interest in this camera.
Hmmm… the most important part for me is the autofocus and I think that the jury is still out on that. I noticed in many of the reviews I’ve watched, people keep remind us that they are “pre-production” models, but shouldn’t the bodies they give to reviewers basically be sorted out since they are gonna critique them? Great review as always guys.
Just sold my XH1, this looks like an amazing body update.
Whoa stoked for this video
Looks good. I know it’s only first impression but any news on the new sensors ISO performance? I’m hoping it can give a bit cleaner images at higher ISO then the XT4
Full review can’t be far away🤞
Fuji has such fantastic skin tones!
I was expecting to see some stabilisation reviews. But thanks anyway. Brilliant review
@DPReview TV Are you going to do a more in depth review of the lens or can you share what you thought of it? F/5.6-F8 seems slow for a 150-600mm
Price is a bit high, but looks promising!! I'm curious how good the stabilization is....does it beat Panny now?
damn how did jordan fit into those jeans lol. great review guys
Did you have the chance to test it out with any of the older lenses? I’m curious as to how the new autofocus system works with the previous lenses given they’re debuting new ones as well.
I hope they release a firmware update with the subject detection to the newer cameras in the lineup like the XT-4 and the XS-10
all reviews about Fujifilm X-H2S !! 😮😮
I love Fuji, always have done. That said, I'm not a video shooter. The overheating (or lack thereof) is incredibly impressive. Especially as basically the entire Fujirumors community went apoplectic assuming that the fan plug-in meant that the camera would melt within the first second. That said, I'd hoped for serious improvements in AF, which it seems like there hasn't been. Hoping that firmware can correct and correct quickly.
I'd be waiting for the X-T or X-Pro series, anyway, but as the first of the new sensors, I'd really want them to come out swinging with the AF.
Is it still the case that the stellar IAF in the Sony a6400 I purchased, now some years' ago + a mint 2nd Sigma 56 1.4, for taking portrait shots of non compliant subjects and ever moving children, is still superior to these 2 major offerings.
Fuji have had way too long to nail IAF, or whatever name you wish to give it.
Fwiw, the sensors in my XT20, XT2 and S10 still do an excellent job.
Yes, I may be different, however video is of secondary importance to me, yes, I appreciate this is the video centric of the 2 new body releases.
Don't be soft with Fuji, they have been able to see Sony, Canon and Nikon release bodies with excellent IAF.
Remember the release of the early X series, XT20, XPro1 etc, these were greeted by general criticism of very, very slow AF, not assisted by the slow AF of some older, if still worshipped, lens, e.g the 24 1.4. I purchased that lens and in 2022, on focusing, it is both noisy and, relatively slow.
Is Fuji rushing these bodies onto the market with the intention of remedying the significant AF issues found in the early X series via the same type of fix, via firmware updates ?
I certainly trust not.
Ralph Klein Park. Will be a great spot to photograph people drinking with the new relaxed regulations. That body/lens combo would be perfect for that.
thanks for this, guys.
as usual, Fujifilm not being able to give us a 200% ultra solid, ultra-consistent camera, from the get-go but it is still early..
i just wish they’d make faster lenses. my 16mm f1.4 is outstanding. i wish i could have sth similar to the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8.
cheers from Portugal
Really looking forward to the GH6 comparison.
I’m guessing no waveform, as Jordan didn’t mention it?.. I’m not gonna rely on Fuji adding this in firmware, as they definitely no longer live up to their ‘kaizen’ promise.. still waiting for a simple thing like Nostalgic Neg filmsim on the X-T4. Excellent video as always, guys 👌
I'll wait for the X-T5 (2023???) I cannot give up the SS, ISO and EV dials. They are the Fujifilm experience I enjoy so much. I am sure an X-T5 will have the AF improvements with a v.5 processor.
Did they fix the flashing light zoom issue when filming and zooming? If I use the 16-55mm f2.8 on an X-T4 and zoom in or out while recording video there will be little flickers of light. I’m really hoping this has been addressed!
When I saw the spec for the 18-120 f4 I was wondering how they made it lighter than the 18-135, but then I noticed it has no OIS. So its good for these bodies with IS. PZ is good for the video guys, especially if it turns out to be parfocal.
The 18-120 still has the same issue as the 16-80. When you transition from 20 back to 18 it does a little bounce back into the wider angle
I believe it is parfocal they mentioned that in the official Fuji presentation.
Forget about the camera … Great job getting in shape :)
I'd be curious as to how good 4k 120p looks compared to other cameras such as the those from Sony, Nikon, Canon and Panasonic that shoot at this frame rate. Also what is the crop factor in 4k 120p? (For wildlife, the crop factor may actually be a benefit.)
That's one thing they forgot to mention. In my test there were no crops in any mode. (Though I only had the camera for 3 days so who knows)
1.29 crop in 4k120
Will there be a seperate review of the XF 150-600 soon?
curious to see the X-H2S with various lenses, like the smallest 27mm 2.8. wonder how would it look like haha
not sure if it's the grade, or if there is a little bit of ir pollution (although could be solved with ir cut filter if so). mainly notice a slight red tint at 2:30 in the clouds
I find it surprising that there is no mention of the new IBIS system at all. Fujifilm is claiming gimbal-less style performance for video and 7 stops for stills. I’m assuming it was not ready with the pre-production hardware?
Noooo! Don't shoot down at those poor birds. Get down to eye level.
Besides that: Great review as always. My favorite camera channel by far. Great work, guys!
Curious if Fuji will be the first medium format camera maker that uses stacked sensors in their 50/100mp cameras.
Hi Chris and Jordan. Love your staff. Knowing how the camera market is evolving in the next 5 years, phone cameras becoming so good and replacing many small cameras……. Apart from your phone, great for holiday snaps. In your opinion, what are the options moving forward for a serious stills camera? Do you jump to large format, and if so which brand is looking good in the next 5 + years to invest in? I am not holding you to it as every person has
different ideas. However your thoughts are valuable. Nicholas
I like. I think I want.
Loved your review! Always informative and in depth! In another review by Taylor Jackson, he showed how this camera was quite a bit better than the Canon R6 for people which was impressive. I’m sure for birds this will be refined by Fuji or just like you showed just need to tweak the focusing settings. Thanks 😊
is possible if fuji compare with canon R7?
I work at a camera shop.... and we are getting orders already!
I think the PSAM wheel for Custom modes now needs to be LCD. According to the setting we made C1-C2... C7 part text and/or icon should be customizable
What was the temp in the basement? I find outdoor in bright sun 80 degrees F leads to overheating on the X-T4
Jordan’s flower pot hat is adorable!
I’ll wait for the XH2
Great review. Sounds like an innovative camera.
If we can screw on a fan why can't we screw on a modular screen? (i.e. have a flippy screen version and a X-T3 style screen which we can buy separately),
So neither photographers nor videographers need to compromise for latest tech?
Instead of eliminating SS, ISO, and exposure dials, could there be 3 tactile (clicky) dials each with LED on top? (LED would display SS, ISO, Exposure), and lose the top screen?
By making dials with displays, the quick settings C1-C7 would have maximum positive effect, and assuage people who love direct setting dials.
Converting the physically set SCM switch to a button allows C1-C7 to logically control everything possible, which seems like an improvement.
Nice basement setup and RGB 😀
@Text_me on telegram @dpreview01 😂
Mind boggling. Listening to this description is moving me to going back to film in the Hasselblad V cameras. Limiting but so much simpler.
I have the GH6 and this camera is similar in many aspects. The 8K would be a game changer if under $2500 for the next version
I think it is a great camera and doesn't really go overboard with features just keeps things somewhat simple coming from an Older XT1 and currently using an XT3 with a 1dxii between those too I think this camera really shines. It's not trying to compete with a Canon R5, but I think it trumps the R7/R10 when it comes to video, esp the 2 F-Log settings, and the ability to shoot 6k and RAW. 26mp is enough for me on my XT3 heck I love shooting with my 5D classic still. I think the 33mp in the Sony A7IV is sort of that all around sweet spot and being FF it has that advantage being priced pretty much the same.
As an XT3 shooter I do still want some more MP and is why I would still love a GFX50s as it's affordable for me, however it will be interesting so see what they release when they do announce more on the XH2-h which could mean High Megapixel as that 42mp or whatever would be pretty sweet so It might be worth waiting for that who knows. I don't NEED 8k or even really 6k but it's nice when sensors upsample from those higher resolutions in their 4k modes.
For Fuji Video shooters I think this is a sweet upgrade. My only question is this a camera that can withstand time and competition for say 2-3 year mark.
In your opinion is the autofocus improvement and burst shooting speed impressive enough to warrant the upgrade as a wildlife photographer shooting stills (but high action)?
What is the average turnaround time from preproduction to available to purchase (in your experience)?
Big improvements from Fujifilm
What about AF? Eye tracker?
Is the X-H2S good for portrait? Fashion portrait?
What AF percentage did you get on people after adjusting settings? The test on Jordan running was using default settings, no?
Beautiful RGB lights!
Some odd decisions by Fuji but overall it's an interesting package. AF is a little disappointing but we'll have to see where it is in a couple months. Would have been nice to see some substantial IQ improvement claims but that's not the end of the world.
Bodes well for the next generation of XT and Xpro bodies though
do the custom dial settings save things like: timer on/off, card location saving, jpg vs. raw? on the XT4 my issue is that the Q-menu will not save functions such as timer, file type/size format, nor SD card saving order/style. I want to switch between real estate bracketing with timer and other settings immediately to action, or portrait and it cannot be done with one switch of a menu setting on the XT4. super annoying. Does the XH2s solve all of these now ???
Overheating is a huge concern in Sacramento, where it gets up to 108°F (42°C) several times a year.
I was a bit perplexed at the gripe that 40fps only works in Release Priority. I would have thought that was expected for any camera shooting that fast! I mean... that's so fast that what camera can confirm focus at 40fps! The fact it can do Focus Priority at a lower frame rate like 15fps is still absolutely astounding to me. As long as its AF.C and Release Priority at 40fps I'm impressed! (but then I 'm often easily impressed).
Serious question, what camera CAN do Focus Priority at 40fps? And more importantly actually PROVE it is actually using Focus Priority for 40fps and not just defaulting to Release to cope. I have learned (for example) that even if I set my AF.S and AF.C to Focus Priority on my XT4, but also enable the 'AF+MF' option (set to On), then the camera is actually acting out as if it's in Release Priority (basically its a bug I think). Don't believe me? Try it, I know others whom have confirmed this to be true as well.
Hey Jordan, you didn’t test that 150-600 for video? It’s a super lens for it, no real movement when focusing and beautiful rendering too. Also I bet nothing looks small in Chris’ hands.
