    Well done!

      The x100v was meant to serve for still photography with (mostly) one lense. The X-T4 was a hybrid (still+video) and the x-h2 the flagship for more moneys... now they revert back to making the X-T5 a still shooter again cause they want people to spend more money on the x-h lineup - disappointing imo...

      @@manuelight Well the X-T5 finally went back to its roots, being a still shooter, which is a good thing. The XT-4 was trying to be both but many (still photographers) disliked the fully articulating screen. And now Fuji finally differentiated the XT and XH lineup. If you want a more video oriented camera, then yes you'll have to pay more, that's with any system.

    • @ThorDyrden
      @ThorDyrden Год назад +14

      @@funnybeingme For me it's not the "need to pay more" argument... let's be honest - what are 200 bugs more or less, when we look at our lens-collection being worth 25x that at least?
      It's more like - when you want a hybrid - you will prefer some differnt user-interface - like a fully articulating screen, a mode dial with a lot of custom-settings etc... imho both cams X-T5 and X-H2 are optimised for their intended primary use-case, based around the same sensor. And this is a good thing - thanks Fujifilm.

      @@Chindogu133 I agree with the photometrics switch. With regards to the X-Pro 4.... uhmmm I think it might have been axed! (Just my personal thoughts). As usual there's a rhythm to the releases by manufacturer's. High-end, mid & low-end. The high-end came in Q2 & Q3 the mid in Q4. Now for the low-end... Will it ever? There was the X-T3, X-Pro 3 and X-T30. Then came the next iteration, X-T4 and then nada! No compatriots or siblings. Then the XS-10 came, then the X-H2s and now we're at the X-T5 and still no word on the X-T4 nor the X-T40... Di you still have hopes for the X-Pro 4?

    I'm just back from my local camera dealer, where I traded in my X-T4 for an X-H2. I had been thinking I should wait and try the X-T5 first, but this review really helped me make up my mind NOT to do that. Key learnings: (1) I don't shoot a lot of videos, but when I do, they tend to be long. Both the X-T5 and X-H2 have theoretically unlimited record times, but the review showed me that the X-H2 will record longer because the X-T5 is more likely to have heat issues. (2) When I got the X-T4 I thought, "Wow, I really like having separate dials," but I've realized that in practice, I never use them; I keep them locked and use the front and rear control dials for adjustments. So, the X-H2 layout is closer to the way I actually use the camera. (3) I liked the X-T4's fully articulating screen a lot because it let me fold it away from protection when carrying the camera. The X-T5 doesn't have that and the X-H2 does. So, thanks to DPRTV for helping me decide this is NOT the right camera for me!

    Thanks for the video guys. Always much appreciated. As I am primarily a stills photographer, I'll be interested to see the full review, with studio test scene of the X-T5. However, I suspect that the low light performance will suffer from the higher number of pixels. I currently use the X-T4 and X-T2 for wedding photography, although these days I only do a few each year as I am semi-retired. In low light shots in churches, registry offices, etc, the X-T2 produces less noise than the X-T4 on high ISO shots from around 1600 ISO up and the higher you go, the greater the difference. This actually shows quite well in your website comparisons in the reviews of the cameras, when looked at side by side on the studio scene. Especially shows up in the dark areas.

    It's always a bit of a pickle for me, because I'm one of the few people that wants a camera that does it all but in a small retro body. So downgraded video features (not that this is worse than the XT-4) is not so great to me (but the camera is still perfectly capable). I personally wish all cameras had the LCD screen of the Sony A7R V. It's the best of everything (and if you don't think it's rugged enough, just don't pull the screen out).
    That all said, I have to be realistic, and most video work I do, won't require anything that this camera doesn't already have and most of what I'd do with it would be still photography anyway. But I figured it's the internet and I needed to get my complaints in.
    Still, this camera is quite tempting, and perhaps I'll pick one up at some point. I only fear that I'll like it so much that my other camera won't get any love.

    What is the benefit of releasing the H2 with the 40MP when this XT5 is there... I think Fujifilm is making a mistake with trying to appeal more to photographers with XT5 when they already have the XPro line. Regarding the fun dials, they could have reworked the XPro line with that and made the XE line more premium. This XT5 doesn't seem too much of an improvement over the XT4 when the 4 has more hybrid capabilities and vertical grip.
    Edit: I usually support more options for the consumer. But when one brand releases too many products that work similarly they tend to artificially restrict some of the features in lower end models. So far that's mostly been film simulations for fuji line. They have been good at updating firmware but have slowed down. With more products I am concerned about their ability to continue supporting previous models. Not expecting them to provide firmware for XT2 but if this continues then I suspect the XT4 won't have the same firmware life span as the XT2 line did.

    I think that 40+ MP non-stacked sensors make more sense as photography-oriented cameras rather than all-rounders (which is how the X-T line was historically positioned). The only one of the current crop of such cameras that clocks out fast enough to have "reasonable" rolling shutter is the R5, but it pays a hefty thermal price for that (literally) blazing-fast clock-out. I say this as somebody who owns an R5 and an A7Riii, and has shot/rented several other such high-res bodies.
    Obviously stacked high-res sensors as in the A1 (which is my main camera these days) and Z9 can escape some of these tradeoffs, but even the A1 is somewhat compromised for video inasmuch as you have to drop to Super35 to get good 60 fps footage.
