I own the Fujifilm X-H2s. I've been a pro photographer my whole life, 66 years. I would not trade this camera for any other camera in the world. I had a Fujifilm XT4 and Canon R7, and sold them both, after testing the 3 in open shade, sun light, and low light. Fujifilm X-H2s was the best of all in all situations. I like it so much; I bought a second one.
Im looking to buy either one of these. I like Fuji better but have seen a lot of complaining about the autofocus firmware updates making it worse over time. What do you think? Im new but want a hybrid I can grow into. Decaused ago I had Nikon F5 old school film, (funny huh). Looking forward to new camera. Thanks ahead for your advise/opinion. Appreciate.
I own an xh2s and i came here to watch the comparison because the autofocus on fujifilm is a nightmare. I think my old nikon d90 could compete. Tracking on the video is awful. Using mostly with native 33mm f1.4 with linear motor and viltrox 75 1.2.
Had fuji xt4 in the past, liked it, sucked in low light and focus tracking. Swapped for A7IV and never going back to cropped sensor again. Love this camera.
Both will overheat in similar amount of time in interior if the temperature is over ca. 27 degrees - after about 20-30 min. of use (unless you use the fan on X-H2S). I haven't had any issues in exterior.
Great job, a lot of effort goes into what you do and thank you for hard work The performance of this Fuji against the a74 is amazing, although I bought my a74 2 weeks ago and still learning on it. I don’t think those who are on a budget would be disappointed with this Fuji
Revisited this upload a week later to A/B both again. Second time around I was surprised that on most of the pictures I preferred the Sony colors, especially the blues. I also remembered how much I dislike Sony's in-EVF implementation of their settings and icons. The first time I tried a Canon it was like my eyes were treated to some sort of Willy Wonka secret blend :D. Nitpicking with zero impact on final output but something Fuji gets right and Sony should revisit. For my personal use-case the cost of cheaper/smaller options is also a factor. With 6 children who all also are engaged in photography, along with an A7iv, getting a used A7iii and used Tammy glass still seems like a better direction than an X-T3/4 with similar lenses. Thanks again for the useful video! I checked out the location you are in... what a beautiful place to photograph... and within driving distance of some of the most spectacular Europe has to offer!
I was planning to sell my A7III then switch to the SH2s, after seeing this video I'll simply upgrade to 7IV. @@TheHybridShooter GH6 is only recommendable to someone *heavy* into anamorphic, since the 4:3 aspect is more correct for that than the 3:2 of the Fuji. But at this moment I feel the need to change the camera, I would like to jump to a more profesional sports camera, such as Z9, R3 or A9ii, but the budget doesn't allow me to make the switch, and then this Fuji came to my attention. Looks like the perfect camera for my needs, also the lens doesn't cost a fortune, I might need to take this camera for a weekend and test it out.
Very well done 👏👏👏 Thanks for the work you put in on this video! My first camera was a Fujifilm crop sensor and I always felt like low light performance was not good. I’ve already invested into Fuji, but maybe I would have bought Sony with this knowledge.
Wow! Excellent comparison. I think this has settled it for me. The low light abilities of the Sony is too important for me to ignore in hopes to have a second stacked sensor camera. I'm probably better off getting a used A9ii which is close to the cost of the X-H2s once I factor the additional cost of the CF-B card.
Photo wise, the a9 mk1 is basically identical to the MK2 If you're running on a tight budget, it's probably better value to get the mk1 Don't do this if you're planning to film with it though.
@@Shawns_snapshots I agree about the mk1 but because I had the A9, I sadly experienced some things with the camera that I did not like: 1) UHS-1 in slot 2; 2) 5 fps for mechanical; and 3) no flicker control option. Sure is a nice camera though. For now, I use the A7Siii for my second camera which has been enjoyable to use for photography.
I know that you are not the biggest fan of M43 at the moment (understandably) but have you considered checking out the OM-1? It also has stacked sensor and very solid video specifications. Could be interesting.
Why wouldn't anybody be a fan? Prints don't get printed as square pixels but as dots, you aren't going to see much difference between full frame and M43 so it's 95% of the image for a fraction of the cost. I can live with that. Plus hybrid shooter isn't a wildlife shooter so he's unlikely to pick up a camera unless it suits his use case) travel, content creation etc. I would also like to see the OM1 reviewed but appreciate it won't happen on this channel for the above reasons.
@@JoeMaranophotography First of all, OM-1 doesn't cost a fraction of full frame. Not that many people print photos these days and I don't think that the printing lowers the image quality requirements, just the opposite. He wrote that he is considering it, so it might happen.
@@TheHybridShooter Given the high quality of your reviews and your growing audience I think that Nikon should be sending you their equipment for review. Thanks for posting another great video!
great review! Tell me please, how do the cameras heat up during use? Which camera feels hotter in your hand? for example x-t4 is very hot for me at work, getting low temperature burns
it's very interesting to see the color differences are shifting between the two. Sometimes sony is more magenta in the skies, while fuji is green Other times the fuji is heavy on the magenta and sony is greener In most cases they look extremely similar in terms of color and it's pretty hard to find differences
Finally a thorough comparison between these 2 cameras. I have been watching reviews for both cameras as I intend to upgrade from my sony A6000 to either sony a7iv or fuji xh2s. I wanted to jump to fuji system to keep my lens options significantly cheaper (aps-c). However, I’d be much using it to film wedding, and will be sticking to 60 fps, & i dont mind the crop factor on sony, so I guess I will stick with sony. After all, it’s the autofocus reliability & the fact I can use my current aps-c lenses for most video works on the a7iv. Anyhow, I feel like whichever camera one should buy, they won’t be missing that much as to what the other camera has to offer. These are, I think 2 great hybrid cameras
@@TheHybridShooter I mean there are plenty of offerings from Sigma, Tamron, Viltrox. Maybe not to the extent of full frame but there still exists a decent amount
Very good video especially taking into account different ISO standards. I use SONY A7riii with samyang 135mm 1.8, I am thinking about jumping to Fuji xh2s, only because we now have viltrox 75mm 1.2 so I could offset poor low light with wider aperture.
I like your reviews and I watched them all. Will you be able to review the X-H2 Fujifilm with the 40 megapixel sensor? I would like to see the image quality that it put out in different lighting, and how the noise is controlled. Thank you.
Thanks Man for this independent review based on facts, listing the pro and cons well balanced and avoiding emotional comments, which are often voiced by fans and payed 'experts' :)
Love my FX3 but that Fuji x-h2s has 14 stops of dynamic range and open gate recording. The A7IV is fantastic, but the Fuji is superior between these two bodies. It is not even close.
Wonderfully well-balanced overview as always, thanks! Having only rented an A7III for 2 weeks, how adjustable are the Sony in-camera colors? On Canon, I had quite a bit of control over the Jpeg output, is Sony similar? In the picture of the Gimbal and Trees, I think it captures the difference I see and so enjoy in Fuji Colors... black is darker (contrast) and the trees (greens) look more natural or perhaps more similar to Nikon on the Fuji. Could this be changed and applied globally on a Sony? Obviously this wouldn't impact Raw output. Lastly, is the round control 4-way selector not a wheel, a-la Canon, on the Sony? I thought it was , but can't remember. I think if Fuji had kept their dial buttons I might be choosing an X-H2 when it drops, but still think between the low light performance, lens selection (used!), and customization, the Sony would suit me better (especially primarily for photography with little video use). Thanks again!
Not on the A7III but on the A7IV for jpeg output, you have almost the whole Lightroom basic adjustment tab. Including but not limited to Highlights, Shadows, Clarity, Sharpness etc. I think the A7IV has a whole lot of options for any Jpeg shooter. Since I shoot RAW always, I don't get to try it out a whole lot. But there are a lot of options.
@@Phoenixrider9241 Great to know, thanks! I usually shoot Raw as well, but love the option to set up my Jpegs for my 2nd card slot. I've been spoiled with Nikon's color science, but have been impressed with the A7iv's as well... it's just the greens that need some tweaking. With 6 kids I don't have a lot of time for post, so if I can get the Jpegs 90% of the way there, it's all I need for quick printing family events etc. Thanks again!
@@TheHybridShooter the a7r4 can drop to a 26mp on the push of a button with 1,5 crop from full frame, what does this camera do? Just asking not intended to be rude
Coming from Panasonic G9 looking for new set up which allows me to use images straight out of camera without much post processing. Which one would be the better choice?
Does the Sony have a dynamic range setting like the Fujifilm does? I’m talking about the thing that goes from 100% to 400% and you have to shoot at a higher ISO for it to be active.
After watching other reviewers blabber on about their personal preferences, I always come back to your videos to see how different cameras actually compare in the field. Your comparisons of low-light performance, dynamic range and detail are by far the best on RUclips. (Also, I like your backyard.)
🤔What do you think about APSC moded A7iv + lens Sigma 18-50 2.8 vs Fuji XH2s. As FF lens is too huge for my daily usage & videos. Price of bodies is almost the same, but I can turn FF on sony any time and use it for photography or low light with other lens. So the question is apsc moded a7iv video quality comparable to XH2s, what do you think about it?
Sony is really killing it these days. Of course when I priced out the body+lenses I’d prefer it was more like buying a car than a camera. Love your reviews. But maybe a thought or two on the price factor? Fuji will need the newest lenses to exploit the added speed or pixel density coming soon. But compared to full frame prices it still seems to be a lot cheaper to build a strong Fuji kit especially with used gear. Also It looked like you used the 16-55mm a lot for this review. Do you think it kept up speed/image quality wise? Do you think it will perform on a 40mp sensor? I want to invest in lenses with the longest future.
Sony kit should not be more expensive if you take equivalence into consideration, in fact it should be cheaper if you are taking third party options into consideration as well. Unfortunately there is no good 24-70 F4 option on Sony (old Zeiss is poor) but something like Tamron 28-75 F2.8 is still cheaper than Fuji 16-55. It depends on exact lenses you need, but in general lenses for Sony FF are not more expensive than Fuji APS-C equivalent.
@@tomapaunovic "When I priced out the body+lenses I'd prefer" is what I wrote - there are 3rd party lenses for both systems that are like $100 or even a little less but they bring their own issues (and aren't my preference even if I own some and they are great). Equivalence is only relevant if you are trying to produce an identical depth of field and field of view on both systems (that is to say, identical pictures), but frankly who is getting into full frame to buy a bunch of F4 zooms? I sure as heck wouldn't even if the FF sensor was a little better in low light. The reviewer chose to compare a full frame camera to an APS-C camera (which are the same price, I know), when Sony also also makes APS-C cameras. So, this is either a testament to how good Fuji is for keeping up, or how bad Sony is for not blowing Fuji out of the water. Therefore, I think the price factor is an important thing to add to the discussion. Any price advantage of Fuji glass (or bodies) are irrelevant if old lenses can't keep up with new bodies, and any superior performance of Sony is frankly irrelevant if the cost of getting that extra performance is multiples of an APS-C option.
@@matt88169 When talking lenses, I think it's really important to figure out what are your needs in terms of FoV and DoF and image quality and then go shopping lenses. High-quality F4 zooms on FF were always really popular, especially among landscape photographers. And it makes a lot of sense, why would you pay more and carry more weight if most of your images are F8/F11. IMHO it would be great if we had even narrower apperture lenses for such use cases. Canon is releasing some of those for RF mount, but those were mostly gimped in some other areas. If you need a DoF of FF 2.8 then that would require big lenses, but that's still your best option since APS-C 1.8 are almost nonexistant, except for Sigma 18-35 and 50-100 who are really big and have limited range.
Great comparison of two very capable cameras :) I paused at 7:32 and was amazed at the clutter in the sony's viewfinder and frame...how can you even compose anything with that much junk shown?
You can easily change what you want on the screen. I only have my exposure values that you see on the bottom and the histogram on the screen. Very minimal
Hi, I am happy Sony owner and I have also had an XT30 in the past. The thing that I most context in the Fuji autofocus system is the management of the the hooking of the eye. With Sony, in a group of people, with AFC you have several ways to lock onto the subject you want. With Fuji, in AFC mode, it is the camera that chooses who to hook and then you have to change the choice. Have they improved anything in this regard with this new X-H2S? Thank you.
Hi There, I'm interested in the X-H2S. My goal is to upgrade from my older Nikon D3400 for photos. I'm looking for a hybrid camera to also easily record outdoor Sports games in 4k. I need something that can Record 4K to SD card and still output HDMI 4k to a field monitor. My Sony FDR-AX53 can record 4k to SD card but cannot output 4k HDMI at the same time. Is this also easy to auto focus during a game as I utilize a Cayer Tripod that works great. Thanks in advance @TheHybridShooter.
Videos with comparison of 2 cameras are very interesting to watch. Great job as usual. Thanks) BTW - will be nice to see stab abilities when you are walking.
I had to make a choice, Xh2s Fuji APS-C and 6k pro res, 4k 120, or A7IV Sony Full Frame with the possibility of switching to aps-c, a 7k oversampled in 4k in Full Frame, better in low light and auto focus much more stable '' for the moment ''... the choice was very very hard but I opted for the a7 IV. That said, the Xh2s is overpowering! :) Congratulations Fuji for this superb work.
@@scottk8823 I'm not sure what 6K camera are you talking about?!!!!! A7 IV that we are discussing here is 2.5K. Generally, the professionals who use it to make money do have that money to spend. GFX100S is only suitable for certain types of photography.

Photo wise, the a9 mk1 is basically identical to the MK2
If you're running on a tight budget, it's probably better value to get the mk1
Don't do this if you're planning to film with it though.
I actually am considering it, but I would have to buy it to make a review, so I am a little bit hesitant :)
@@TheHybridShooter Rent it.
@@ponchodawson7741 That wouldn't be economical :) I only review stuff that I buy for my personal use, or review units from resellers / manufacturers.

Awesome video as usual. Could you do a similar comparison between a7iv and z6ii? Thank you

great review! Tell me please, how do the cameras heat up during use? Which camera feels hotter in your hand? for example x-t4 is very hot for me at work, getting low temperature burns
Thank you! Both are very similar in terms of temperatures. An advantage of Fuji is that you can attach that aux. fan.
@@TheHybridShooter Good advice, thanks!
Great video 👍🏻
it's very interesting to see the color differences are shifting between the two.
Sometimes sony is more magenta in the skies, while fuji is green
Other times the fuji is heavy on the magenta and sony is greener
In most cases they look extremely similar in terms of color and it's pretty hard to find differences
Excellent comparison. I have a lot of Fuji glass but had my X-T4 stolen. I think the A7IV is more suited to my needs now.
Thank you!
excellent work very honest and trustworthy...
Thank you!
Thank you! APS-C lenses aren't really cheaper than FF anymore. 3rd FF lenses usually offer better results and value than high-end crop lenses.
@@TheHybridShooter There are 3rd party apsc lenses that are even cheaper though
Not enough of them.
@@TheHybridShooter I mean there are plenty of offerings from Sigma, Tamron, Viltrox. Maybe not to the extent of full frame but there still exists a decent amount
Plenty is a relative term. Selection of 3rd party zoom is extremely limited. It is getting better though.
Very good video especially taking into account different ISO standards.
I use SONY A7riii with samyang 135mm 1.8, I am thinking about jumping to Fuji xh2s, only because we now have viltrox 75mm 1.2 so I could offset poor low light with wider aperture.
could you do a review of the canon r7, thx
Unfortunately no.

I like your reviews and I watched them all. Will you be able to review the X-H2 Fujifilm with the 40 megapixel sensor? I would like to see the image quality that it put out in different lighting, and how the noise is controlled. Thank you.
Yes, I will but it hasn’t arrived yet.
Thanks Man for this independent review based on facts, listing the pro and cons well balanced and avoiding emotional comments, which are often voiced by fans and payed 'experts' :)
Take a bow... That's the most detailed comparison I have ever seen. 🙇
Thank you!
Great review.
@@cohoonatube most welcome. Happy to help😄

Does Sony have a usable crop factor on this camera?
I don’t understand this question.
@@TheHybridShooter the a7r4 can drop to a 26mp on the push of a button with 1,5 crop from full frame, what does this camera do? Just asking not intended to be rude

Does the Sony A74 have a Neutral picture profile
PP4 - Rec. 709 is basically Neutral picture profile.

I think the xh2s is gonna be the winner for my needs. Thanks for the video!
Coming from Panasonic G9 looking for new set up which allows me to use images straight out of camera without much post processing. Which one would be the better choice?
Both have very good in-camera processing, so you can decided based on other features.
I came from the G9 to an a7c. Have been very happy with it. Still debated about getting the a7iv, but haven’t missed the G9 since switching.
It will be nice to see A7IV vs X-H2/X-T5 comparison
Does the Sony have a dynamic range setting like the Fujifilm does? I’m talking about the thing that goes from 100% to 400% and you have to shoot at a higher ISO for it to be active.
Yes, it has Dynamic range optimizer function for JPEGs, although it is not quite the same thing.
After watching other reviewers blabber on about their personal preferences, I always come back to your videos to see how different cameras actually compare in the field.
Your comparisons of low-light performance, dynamic range and detail are by far the best on RUclips.
(Also, I like your backyard.)
Brilliant

🤔What do you think about APSC moded A7iv + lens Sigma 18-50 2.8 vs Fuji XH2s. As FF lens is too huge for my daily usage & videos. Price of bodies is almost the same, but I can turn FF on sony any time and use it for photography or low light with other lens. So the question is apsc moded a7iv video quality comparable to XH2s, what do you think about it?
Buying a FF camera to use it extensively in APS-C mode is a very bad idea, you loose a lot of image quality in APS-C mode.
@@TheHybridShooter thank you, probably I will buy XH2s, but price is comparable to fullframe analogues and it confuses me a bit)
"Hello my friends" - love it! And thank you!

@@TheHybridShooter is the 4k120fps of XH2s better that 1080p120fps of a7IV?
Hi, I am happy Sony owner and I have also had an XT30 in the past. The thing that I most context in the Fuji autofocus system is the management of the the hooking of the eye. With Sony, in a group of people, with AFC you have several ways to lock onto the subject you want. With Fuji, in AFC mode, it is the camera that chooses who to hook and then you have to change the choice. Have they improved anything in this regard with this new X-H2S? Thank you.
I haven't tested it with more than one person, so I unfortunately can't answer that, but the subject detection should allow you to do that.
Yes you can change it
The highlight roll off is better on sony. Man I don't know which to get.
A7iv greatest weakness is its rolling shutter. I own it for 2 years. Everything good on a7iv.
