I am a total beginner. Whenever one of my kids rips holes in the knees of their jeans. I cut it off and hand sew the remaining piece into shorts. The leftover denim pieces I use I tried to hand sew into a quilt. Right now its kind of like putting unmatching pieces of already finished and shaped cloth meant for their original purpose. I don't have a is wing machines but have you guys ever heard of a workspace in the city called Gangplank?
No we aren't familiar with Gangplank, although I googled it and it looks like something that is available in Arizona. Collaborative Workspace, sounds like a great idea, We are in Australia. I have to say that if I had to hand sew a quilt together it would never get done. I absolutely admire people with the patience to do it. You can make this quilt on just about any sewing machine, it doesn't need to be flash and fancy.
Thank you. In the summer in the the United States I have very little to do so I consider this busywork. My mom told me my uncle had a quilt made out of pieces of old, torn jeans so I decided to take on the project. I expect the finished project to be comfortable and display several darker shades of blue to give a rough yet comfortable vibe.

I really like the SIMPLISTIC LOOK of this quilt and will be using this technique for the throws that I want to make for myself and family members. I could even use blocks if I wanted to. THANK YOU for showing this fantastic tutorial!
Thank you for your great comment. I think I can see what your family will be getting for xmas.:). These really are just the easiest quilts ever to make.
Amazing. I am a beginner too. Love your instruction (and accent)!
Thank you. This one is great for beginners.
Our sewing ministry met today. The group loved how they turned out and the adhesive spray which none of us have used before. It worked really well!
Love how you worked it so that no binding was needed. Very smart and creative thinking! Thank you.
Thank you Joanne. This method does make it quick and easy to finish a quilt. :)
And by the way, it wasn't originally our idea. This technique has been done for a long time now.
Have not started quilting but this has really encouraged me that I can make a quilt. Great tutorial. Blessings

Thanks for tutorial. A tennis coach from a middle school used to buy material all the time and make these for people. She passed away last summer, so now we have a lot of people with wonderful memories of her.
You are welcome Nancy. Some people are just so giving and what a lovely way for this special lady to be remembered.
You make it look SEW easy! I have my fabric and I'm ready to try. I'm sure mine will not go as smoothly as you make it SEAM. Good thing Joannes has 50% off coupons.

Sewing machine
This sounds like a great idea, and I am sure it will look lovely when it's finished.
Alanda Craft.....so love this for a quick quilt, very good instructions! Thank you!
Just used your no-binding method today on my first ever quilt - thank you for the great instructions!
Excellent Tiffany, happy to hear we were able to help out. Perhaps you would like to share a photo of you quilt on the website, here is the link if yoy are interested www.alandacraft.com/submit-your-project/
Great idea. Thanks. Can you tell me the type of presser foot you are using? I love this video!
We have used an open toe walking foot to do the ditch stitching. The rest of the quilt was put together using a regular sewing machine foot.
Thank you for answering so quickly! I will be making quilts using your method. I know I'll get a lot more made. 😀💕
how to stitch in hand?
I have never sewn a quilt and have always wanted to. Many Thanks for posting your video!
Then you will love this one Sandi. It is really easy and as long as you can sew a seam, you can make this one. Great for a quilting beginner. :) And we do have the written instructions on the website. I sometimes find it convenient to have the written instructions to follow as well as the video.

Paula does the majority of the filming and directing. And I agree, Danine, she does a fantastic job. We are a team of 2 so we create, film, edit, write the blog posts and keep the craft/filming rooms clean and tidy. Life is pretty full on most times. But we love it.:)
