- Following on from last weeks Glenallachie 12 Year Old and 15 Year Old comparison, this week we are trying the newly released Glenallachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 6.

Historically not in love with Glenallachie on the whole, but these recent CS expressions are starting to convince me. Really loved the CS5, the 6 sounds great! Great review!
Yeah definitely! We think the batch 6 is more interesting and has deeper notes than the Batch 2, we haven't tried any of the batches in between.
The GlenAllache 15 is the best value for money 15 year you can buy in my opinion, would recommend you give it a try if you haven't already.
I completely agree. There's a lot of hype surrounding Billy Walker and Glenallachie in general. I just got a bottle of this Batch 6 and it is very nice. Nevertheless, it remains a typical sherry bomb. Sherry bombs have no distillery character and have to be judged on whether they are a good sherry bomb or not. This is a good one but it's not alone in that judgement as there are plenty of fine sherry bombs for £100. I was not a fan of the 15.

Got Batch 4 in the cupboard. Picking up Batch 5 today, which I bought at auction. Hoping I wouldn't have to go through auction for Batch 6, but sounding like I will.
I recently bought a bottle because I knew I'd not be likely to see it again nearby. It's Ledaig 18, and I drove an hour away to get it. The bottle is still unopened on my shelf, but having just watched your video comparing that one to the Caol Ila 18, I think my afternoon today has Ledaig written all over it. Glenallachie of any sort has not made its way to my area, but I'll be keeping an eye out for that, especially this cask strength one. Also, I noticed in that other video you have a few Loch Lomonds on the shelf. Their 18 year old is odd and interesting, a favorite at the moment considering its price, and I am the only one of my drinking pals who likes it. Well, that works out just fine. The fewer the merrier, as they say. Thanks for insights, Grail.
The Ledaig 18 is absolutely magical! You'll love it! Hope the Glenallachie gets to you soon, its a real treat! Totally opposite end of the scale from the Ledaig. Yeah Loch Lomond is one of our local distilleries and they are doing really interesting things, you should try their Single Grain too if you get the chance!

Thank you! Yes, its a combo of Oloroso sherry, Pedro Ximenez sherry and Rioja wine casks. Its a total sherry bomb of a dram but a wee bit more coplex with the rioja cask. Hope it gets to you down there soon!

All I can find where I'm at in Texas is the Batch #2. I'm guessing I'll have to get into the auctions to find the other batches.

I wish I liked Glenallachie more than I do - It ticks all the boxes of my Scotch criteria, but it’s never cracked my top three, even after trying the 10, 12 and 15 year.
It just shows it can be exactly what you want on paper but you have to try it to know for sure!
