    Hard to believe the days I BEGGED people to buy early batches of GlenAllachie, those old batches seem to hold up well in hindsight.

    Great rant gentlemen. James coming through big with the batch #1. Of the batches I've tried I'd rank them 4-5-6-7-2. Looking forward to batch 8. Batch 2 is still on a couple shelves in B.C. for $130.

    Cadbury eggs are ubiquitous in the USA. You can get them at grocery stores liquor stores convenience stores they’re everywhere. I remember seeing Cadbury commercials on television when I was a kid.

    I own so many of the core range Sherried cask strength stuff, but the only one I want is the Bunna 12 2022. I would really like an explanation from Bunnahabhain or their d-bag distributors as to why we cannot have it.

    I have a bottle of Batch 2 and I think its nice. Its a good balance of Bourbon/Sherry. Reminds me of some past Springbank 12s less the peat/funk

    Cheers from SoCal. Good job as always guys. Was able to try GA B9 at Black Rock in London last month. Since I only have the B5 to compare it with, I found the B9 to be better. More balanced as I found the B5 to be heavily sherried. Also agree with you as I had the Glendronach CS B11 side by side and the GA did kick its…. Keep the reviews coming. Thanks for what you do.

    Thank you SSC SO MUCH for stating the fact that Johnny Depth completely botched the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory “remake” 😆 Completely agree, same with Alice in Wonderland. Love the added movie clips, especially Billy Walker on a mini bike lol

    Buona Pasqua 🐣, with Billie Walker’s Glenallachie 10 CS one might try more artisanal chocolate perhaps by Godiva, Venchi or even Lindt. Love the inserts 😂 ciao gentlemen. Thanks 🙏 S.

    In that order for me: 5,4,8,3,6,2,7. Never tried 1 & the newest 9 yet. But if you could send a oz of that #1 in the Mtl, I would love to put it against all of them.
    Still have a few B-ups of #5 on the shelf!

    The only Glenallachie I have bought is the standard 12. It was nice, but I didn't get the hype - maybe I'm just a bit bored with sherry-bombs.

    • @paulm749
      @paulm749 Год назад

      I had much the same opinion about the standard so-called "sherry bombs" (Macallan 12, Glendronach 12, etc) and though I find them to be pleasant, they're not really my thing. I would much rather spend some time with a Springbank 10 or a Clynelish 14. It's when I started trying cask strength whisky matured exclusively in sherry that I finally got it.
      It seems that, for me at least, sherry cask flavor is an all-or-nothing proposition. Currently, I have a 12yo Highland Park independent bottling matured in a sherry butt and a 12yo Glenallachie cask strength matured in a PX puncheon, and these are both phenomenally good. The Highland Park is probably the darkest whisky I've ever seen, and I suspect the butt in which it matured was very wet with residual sherry at the time it was filled with the Highland Park spirit, likely even sloshing-around wet. But it works marvelously well, still having that characteristic touch of HP peated heather but with a creamy, chocolaty, dark fruit infusion that has to be tasted to be believed.
      The Glenallachie 12 CS is also excellent, and even when diluted with water down to a strength close to their standard 12, outshines the standard bottling by a wide margin. Tasted side-by-side, the diluted cask strength 12 still retains a rich, creamy, oily mouth feel and much more chocolate and dark fruit flavor notes than the regular Glenallachie 12yo. Nosing the glass half an hour after I finished it, the aroma is still incredibly rich.
      So I suggest splurging a bit and buy a bottle of high quality, cask strength, sherry matured whisky - it just might change your mind about this style of Scotch.

    RE: the Glenlivet comment... I do wonder at what point the bottom falls out of the market for mass-produced non-integrity whisky. I'm NEVER spending money on anything that isn't following the integrity model.

      @@WhiskyInThe6 I’m going to try and predict the bottles here… 10 bottles of 18 year scotch
      Arran
      Glendronach
      Glenallichie
      MacAllan
      Glenfiddich
      Glenmorangie
      Dalmore
      Glenlivet
      Talisker

  • @kingzaire2444
    @kingzaire2444 Год назад

    Age + Colored Spot = over priced even at MSRP.
    Bunnahabhain 12 CS and Laphroaig 10 CS are both less than any colored spot in my area. I don’t even spot em in the store when they’re there anymore. I just walk right past them.
    On another note, Cadbury Eggs aren’t really a big thing here in the states. They’re there but no one talks about them anymore like they did in the 80s.
